I would just download and then delete it. Then you should be able to redownload it for free after it becomes a paid app and there is some more user reviews.
Don't even have to download it, just press install and cancel right away.
Wouldn't Play Protect block any harmful app if you installed it anyway?
Nope. Plenty of harmful apps have made it through.

Getting shaky installing ANYTHING I don't explicitly need anymore.
Play has constant pull-downs of infected apps. If you don't need it, pass. Especially with no good history to go by. Imho.
How is this different or better than the native apps that do the same thing?
When I try to add a video I get error.

Just launched app with no reviews, downloads, or price history to say this was ever at $3.29 normally, and doesn't do anything more than your basic photos app, this is no better than the myriad of sketchy "Torchlight" apps.
