These are awesome combined with HomeKit

Nearly $100 bucks for a 1080p camera? What’s good about this , just HomeKit ?

    • Google nest cams are all 1080p too I believe.

    • Yeah, in 1080p it's harder to see the low res and aberrations of a cheap security camera lens.

On a plus side, your footage is going to take much less disk space than the glorious 4k.

I have 3 of these, but they don't live up to the advertised features. They often disconnect from the Wi-Fi network and I can't access the footage randomly, although it works fine when I plug the SD card into a computer. Sometimes they don't record at all, despite Aqara's firmware updates. Also, motion detection doesn't work well in low light.

They only 2.4g so would disconnect when microwave or similar interference

      • I don’t use the microwave in the middle of the night or during the day when I’m not at home. The connection still drops

        • Do you have close neighbours with microwaves, maybe?

    • I have one for 3 years since they first came out and it worked flawlessly.
Still using it to monitor my 3dprinter

    • Can you recommend a simple home security camera that can detect motion and record only moving objects ? I bought one from Kmart but you need to dedicate a phone or tablet to run it, ie the moment you get out the apps it stop recording. So the camera has to be able to run in the background. Also it must be not subscription based. Don’t have to be HD but must have ext memory storage like SD card. Preferably can run on 5G but 2.4G wifi ok too.

      • I assume you’re looking for an indoor cam?
Wyze cam is affordable and has no monthly fees. They offer motion detection, night vision, and two-way audio.
Eufy cam has a local storage option, eliminating the need for a subscription.
Reolink also supports local storage via a microSD card and doesn’t require a subscription for basic functionality.

Or just give this Aqara camera a try. If you don’t like it, Amazon offers hassle free 30 days return.

Returned mine because when I assigned to block a portion of the view in the app and unable to remove it no matter how hard I try. And even after several hard resets, it couldn't get rid of the blocked area. Went with eufy indoor camera and had no issues at all.
