    There's a 2600mAh battery built in

It’s an included 18650 battery that is removable, it is not built in.

      Bill tin

  • Any torch with onboard charging protected by a tiny rubber bung is unlikely to be truly waterproof.

      Yes don't take it swimming.

Or it is to stop crap (lint, debris, dirt) from getting into a fragile micro-usb port? X0 and X2 are waterproof to the same rating but feature just an aluminum flap.

      • It's obviously for both. IP68 claims are meaningless without test figs. Drop it in your camp wash basin or a creek and pull it you quickly and you should be okay.

        • Well not if they have been independently verified

      • "IP68 Rating Dustproof and Waterproof WUBEN USB port with waterproof injection molding process, there is rubber cap to prevent the charging port from mud and sand.H1 can be submerged 2 meters underwater, also works well at a temperature of 10°C-60°C Micro-USB Charging Port"

"IP68 Rating Waterproof No Fear of Heavy Rain

The USB charging port is also waterproof alone"

        • Lol.

In many places, there are no standards. And in between, there are scammers employed by businesses, organised crime, and government. Then, there are lone-wolf scammers working on their own; the mercenaries of modern commerce.

          • @resisting the urge: Igaf and resisting the urge, I don't disagree with your sentiments but have you ever owned a Wuben product?

Do you have any first-hand accounts of these things you are stating in the context of Wuben?

            • @ColdFusion: Are you suggesting that Wuben products are individually endorsed by reputable independent international agencies, using scientifically sound practices that are practically or specifically beyond the influence of authorities and state bodies? That production variances are measured, and each product endorsed to meet the manufacturers claims for its expected lifespan? Eg Tüv

Because if not, there is no guarantee for the consumer.

Many manufacturers do a better job than others, but few submit their products for 3rd party endorsement (the only way to be sure, without buying and destructively testing things oneself)

              • @resisting the urge: No, I asked a simple yes or no question

                • @ColdFusion: Nothing branded Wuben. But similar things, many with ports are marketed as meeting IP68. And which clearly do not, after minor use,

Not impossible for Wuben to break the mold, but plenty of opportunity there to do so!

            • +2

@ColdFusion: No, but I have many sorfins with similar (arguably better) charging port covers and I did have a close look at the image of the Wuben port. Looks secure enough but It doesn't even appear to have overlap over the recess. That wasn't the point however. The claims by marketing description writers on many mainland Chinese products (and the ludicrous descriptions for that matter) can usually - but not always - be taken with a grain of salt.

I suggest you read some guff about IP68 standards - it's already a user definable standard, which is why reputable companies will state their test parameters. Manufacturers can get away with IP68 labels on products which are obviously NOT made for underwater use and would rarely be subjected the prolonged submersion. That's not unreasonable IF they've actually done some limited testing.

I've not seen any independently verified tests and I'm almost invariably skeptical but stick your Wuben under a rock 2m below the waves at your local beach and come back in a week and tell us how it went.

              • +1

@Igaf: Not sure if putting it 2m below waves for 168h is the IP68 testing methodology so as you suggest I'll need to do some more reading. I think the statements about the quality and lack of verification are fair but I would urge you to look into the torches and the brand. They are doing some awesome things in the torch space. I own 3 different Wuben products. An example, the Wuben X1 has a cooling fan and therefore does not claim to be IP68 but rather has a claimed IP55 rating. The fan itself is waterproof but they are reasonable with their rating. If you look at a teardown of the H1 you'll see there are gaskets and o-rings with greased threads to prevent water from getting inside. Perhaps the port could be a point of failure this would need to be tested. To actually perform a fair test I would need to get a variety of waterproof headlamps (with multiple of each) in a standardised testing environment. I do not have the facilities or budget to perform this testing. Not sure a big rock at the beach would work but maybe you are onto something. I do know you generally shouldn't leave anything under a rock at the beach under 2 m of water but obviously as a scuba headtorch this torch should be tested that way.

                • +1

@ColdFusion: Well aware of the brand. Same goes for Sofirn and Wurkkos.

I take MOST Amazon (esp) marketing spiels for many mainland China products with complete skepticism in the first instance. If I'm interested I'll then chase reviews, customer comments etc. Others can chose for themselves but let's not kid ourselves about Chinese standards labelling. In many cases it's as credible as some torch lumens claims.

                  Caveat emptor.

  • 1200 Lumens is a lot to strap to your head. Could get quire hot after a while.

    • +1

Not really. Anything above 3000++ gets hot AF. Also they step down in power when overheated.

  • what arer cool ppl using this for ?

It's great with a GoPro for bedroom antics hands free :P

Although, I find this one cheaper, brighter and longer lasting :D

    • +1

Yeah, was about to grab it until I saw this

      • +1

        Same here

      • +2

Surely everyone should have ample supply of micro USB cables by now. One would even be included.

        • I wouldn't let it stop me purchasing what appears to be a decent product but that standard has to be one of the worst ever implemented. I rate it right up there with the ludicrous l/100km fuel consumption standard.

Great headlamp and super bright. Been using it for 6+ months and love it. Why spend hundreds at Anaconda when this performs so well for under $50?

    • What kind of battery life do you get on the medium setting? I’m looking for something with about 6-8 hours if possible

      • I hope 1lumen doesn't mind but here's an extract from his tests. You can see the runtime graphs in his review. Little diff between high and medium because like most good torches it ramps down - in this case after 40s: https://1lumen.com/review/wuben-h1/#flashlight-batteries-cha…

        Extract:
I performed 2 runtime tests: high mode and medium mode. Honestly, they’re not that different. The main thing is that high starts out around 1170 lumens. But by 40 seconds into the run, output quickly ramps down to 535 lumens and stays there for the remainder of the run until it finally dies at 150 minutes, having topped out at 48°C.

In medium mode, the Wuben H1 starts out at 480 lumens and stays there for the remainder of the test. It lasted a total of 173 minutes and topped out at 46°C.

        Lumen measurements (for each mode)

Moon: 1 lm (spec: 1 lm)
Low: 95 lm (spec: 80 lm)
Medium: 480 lm (spec: 400 lm)
        High @ 0s: 1164 lm
        High @ 30s: 1171 lm (spec: 1200 lm)
Aux White: 12 lm (spec: 10 lm)

        Throw numbers:
        Lux at 5m: 167
That equals 4175 cd (spec: 3900 cd)
Which translates to 129 meters (141 yds) of throw (spec: 125 m)

It seems$48.96, not coupon can be applied.

    • Same. Can't seem to see the 25% off coupon

  • Anyone know of any reputable / decent 18650 batteries at a decent price?

I just bought 5 of these lamps and need to have spare batteries for them.

  • I got these from a previous deal, it's ok. Waterproof held up. But have gotten brighter headlamps from AliExpress for about the same price. The AliExpress ones were better for squid fishing and spotting them at night. Can't remember which brand or lumens, just that they were decently bright my guess 3k lumens.

    Available again

  • I had this and returned it.

Its comically bright. Not practical when youre camping, its very uncomfortable for others around.

    • +1

You do know it has 3 different settings right..? And that you can angle it down so as not to blind people.. I think it is excellent..

      • can confirm here, the dimmest is too dim the next level is a little too bright. I do like the red light mode as I use it mainly during astro shoots but I also don't like the micro-USB port, would be much better with USB-C.
