I’ve got one of these, and while I use it, I wouldn’t recommend it.

We are all waiting for you, with baited breath, to elaborate as to why you would not recommend it.

        Baited and following now

The light it throws out isn't particularly nice, and it reflects way too much off my keyboard, often making the keys difficult to see. Obviously, this issue would depend on an individual's keyboard/monitor placement.

It feels very cheap and I don't think it justifies the price. Personally, I think a decent, cheap desk light would be a far better solution.

I agree with the comments about reduced desk clutter, which is valuable if you have a small desk.

I have it and personally find the angle it throws light at not useful, it's a very small angle and throws the light dead under the monitor instead of where i am reading/writing

        • Do you find it introduces glare on the screen? That's my biggest fear in getting one. Ie. Ruins my viewing experience.

          • @fufufu: No, there's no glare on the screen whatsoever.

I have one of these, and I do recommend it

Stupid question…but why would you need one of these?

its like a lamp that doesn’t take up any desk space, lighting directly onto your table. Some say that it could also help with eye strain and just generally some atmosphere lighting is good.

        • Thanks. Makes sense

The angle is a huge part. I do work on paper in front of the screen and a monitor light doesn't get blocked by my hand or head.

        • Why not just have proper room lighting from the ceiling? I guess if you have the lights behind you this may help, or a room with insufficient lighting. I never considered one as my home office has LED lighting above me.

          Thanks.

That's the same question I asked myself after I bought it on a previous OzB post.
It works well, sits comfortably on my Dell 27" screen, feels well made, casts a nice light.
But I never use it, it turns out that I don't need to light up my desk space!

dont' think you need the wireless controller so why don't go for this instead.

    • Looks like the IKEA one is fixed colour temperature, and doesn't specify its CRI. The IKEA lightbar also doesn't seem to be able to adjust its angle easily just going off the product gallery.

      • Does this one specify CRI?

    • The IKEA one is dotty. I went to IKEA with every intention of getting one and then saw that the LEDs are distinct dots so I passed

    • The wireless control is the best feature

      • I've used the controller about three times in two years.

  • New or old version?

  • Have had this permanently on for about a year now with no issues . Really like it

  • Yep I got these for my dual monitor set up and would highly recommend.

They're great if you want light on your desk/keyboard but don't want the clutter. I don't even need the room light at all.

Another perk is they light you up well for those video calls.

    • Where do you place your webcam? I got a USB webcam which is sitting/clamp on my monitor, I want a lightbar too but don't know where to place it haha

  • I have got the benq light bar about 2 months ago on special for $219. Although a more expensive than this one, but I would say that it is one of the best gadgets I have ever bought. No more eye strain, better view of my desk. Having said that, I am used to work in a complete dark room.

  • Has anyone tried to mount this on an Alienware 34" ultrawide? The shape of the monitor looks like the worst to mount one of these lights. Is there a work-around? Photo of the top here: https://blog.keepcoding.ch/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/A73010…
