  • Is this better than the 980 Pro?

  • +1

tempted to use this with my 990 pro 2tb as a spare storage/games drive

    • Overkill but sure!

      • Nevaaaa!

  • +1

I'd suggest going for this as an alternative: https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/lnm790x002t-rnnng-lexar-nā€¦. Far superior Read/Write speed.

Also if you are with Afterpay you can get $10 off from BPC as a perk.

The Crucial has DRAM cache, the Lexar doesn't.

      • +1

The Lexar NM790 supports HMB 3.0 and Dynamic SLC which uses system RAM instead. Seems to work just as well. The Lexar drive also has higher endurance.

    • No DRAM tho

Tbw is all just approximate. 1200 vs 1500 is essentially the same. Both very high. The speed difference is also incredibly negligible and applicable to specific workloads. If speed was for some reason super critical you'd have to look at your workload and how the ssd performs.

Personally I'd always take crucial for the same price as it's a good brand with great memory.

    • Which is Best for PS5?

  • +3

getting closer to that $99 sweet spot hahaha give it time..

  • What's with all these SSD's trying to compete with each other just after each sale lol

    • NAND is currently in oversupply. Prices will continue to fall for the rest of the year.

      • Not necessarily, Samsung/micron etc are all cutting nand production, only a matter of time before it goes back up.

    • win for us

  • Recommend for ps5 ?

    • Perfect for PS5.

      • What's you recommendation for heatsink for PS5 usage?

    • I believe you'd need one with heatsink
Edit: actually it says this one has it

      • +1

no heat sink with "it works well with PS5 and has Heatsink compatibility"

        • +1

The ElecGear heatsink should be fine yes?

  • ordered one :
12% lower than recent and around 24% (!) lower than the quarter's $207 'hover' pricing … sure it may well likely go even lower again soon enough

  • Do you think heat would be an issue for gaming when paired with this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/787768

  • And I just bought a KC3000 1TB for $105… yeah its a better drive, but the P5 Plus would have been suitable…

  • Got one of these in my PS5, it works great. Paid $243 for it in December, which was cheap at the time! Thankfully I have 28 Degrees :D
