Cheap price on this 1TB M.2 SSD for those out there who have devices still using M.2 SATA instead of M.2 NVMe. Alternatively it's a good cheap option for portable storage with an M.2 SATA enclosure.

It has a sequential read speed up to 560MB/s and sequential write speed up to 530MB/s which is pretty standard for SATA. It should be using 3D TLC flash with pSLC cache instead of DRAM cache and 500TBW endurance with a 3 year warranty.

Not PS5 compatible.

Ooo a SATA one, finally. Lots of odd jobs need these, and thats not bad.

    Not PS5 compatible.

I love how this site has made even devices that aren't the same protocol need this disclaimer.

there are a LOT of technically and mechanically (I fall into this category) illiterate people out there.

EDIT: I've been eyeing this off as I'm waiting on an Intel N100 based micro form factor pc to arrive and it comes with a 512GB M2 SATA, but well 1TB would give me that extra breathing room for downloading linux ISOs etc. to this extremey low power consuming (6W) windows 11 PC.

    • Need to start labelling hard drives with 'Not PS5 compatible' too at this rate.

      • Yeah I'm gonna put it on everything.
If different connector, and different technology (not even just in tech specs, in the TITLE) isn't enough? eesh.

  • would this SSD be good for a Synology NAS as NVME cache?

    • +2

No, as it's not NVME, it's SATA.

      • Ah woops, missed that. Thanks

Would this be ok for use as a chopping board for when i want to cut miniature baguettes?

    • Why not use a 2$ Kmart board for that

      • Why not use the $2 coin as an even more miniature round cutting board.

    • it depends on how miniature they are. if they're smaller than 22x80mm, this chopping board may be more suitable when its on sale.

It even keeps the baguettes warm!

    • Yep

    • Check asus support page manual for your laptop model for final confirmation before purchasing an SSD M.2 Sata or NVME.

On that ozb post there is a link to a review of the same laptop line - https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-ROG-Strix-GL502VM-Noteboo…

U posted the link - got pics and all on the page to see the SSD

The system drive is an SSD from Micron (M.2 format 2280). The total capacity of the drive measures 256 GB and the user will be able to use 200 GB of this (the rest is for the Windows installation and the Recovery partition). The transfer speeds of the SSD are very good as this is a SATA III SSD. However, the laptop can use even faster (and more expensive) PCIe/NVMe models.

      • Heh yeah I'm out of touch of building PC's so not up to date on standards. I'm still using IDE on my hard drives. I have no idea what M2 or nvme actually mean hence why I asked

        • You end up buying that laptop? in 2017?

        • IDE

SATA HDD mechanical interface been around for ages

          • +1

@cobknob: Not as long as IDE ;)

            • @0 0 0: I know I still have an old system that supports IDE on motherboard Asus a7n8x-e deluxe lol. Even the optical drives used those annoying ribbon cables.

            • @0 0 0: You don't have to mess with master/slave on your IDE? I shiver remembering that and IRQ errors due to wrong configurations.. :(

  • bought this earlier today as needed a non nvme ssd for the spare m.2 slot on mobo.

was waiting out for a 2TB one but too hard. will just get a 2/4tb SSD

  • 2tb is 125.99
