Hey Folks,

Hope everyone's doing well!

We've got some new singles to showcase - Yirgacheffe and Finca La Florida - for those who love a fruity espresso. The Yirgy especially when satisfy anyone craving a classic washed Ethiopian espresso. We've also been able to bring back an old fave - Mantiqueira - a sweet sweet Natural Brazilian.

You've cleaned us out of the red wine glasses! However, we took the cue and have sourced some white wine glasses to keep the fun rolling.

Also plenty of new filters down in the bundle builder :)

Please let me know if you need a hand.

Cheers,
Tim

    Where is the deal?

    • +1

Thanks for your feedback! Different options for different people and tastes I guess? We keep an eye on what other roasters/stores offer (both in terms of the type of coffee they sell and the price point), and I believe in a like for like comparison we're competitive.

      • This isn't OzCompetitive. But I have ordered from you in the past and was very pleased. I'll probably get the Brazilian. I might get some coffee too.

These would have to have a ridiculously high cupping score in order to make this a deal.

    • +2

What cupping score would you expect for this price?

    • with free wine glasses this should have 98 Halliday score!

  • -6

its way expensive. there is no deal here.

    • +1

Just so we're on the same page here, what are you comparing these prices to? They're certainly higher than blends I'll grant you that, but then again the raw coffee that goes into them is more expensive too.

      Cheers,
      Tim

      • Yirgacheffe is one of my fav and price seems like a good deal but never had tried this brand. I just got 3 bags from Single 0 so will pass.

Don't even bother trying to appease these Moccona drinkers.

Keep doing what you're doing - Great Coffee and Great prices.

        • what you doing is great too

          • @Zeee: I think you are due for another post asking where the deal is.

    • +3

Same logic is when people post a Tesla deal. Is it a deal, when you can buy a corolla for half the price? Yes. It still can be.

      Stop being small minded.

Tough crowd… Some half-priced beans at Coles that were roasted 6 months ago that might please them…

I'm a big fan of your posts and offers. Can't fault the service, has become my go to and great to try new blends.

That's the crisis mate, we can't all afford such expensive beans :)

  • Why are filter roasted single origin beans a fair amount more than espresso roasted single origin beans? Why can’t the Atypical - Ethiopia Yirgacheffe for example be roasted for filter and sold at the same price?

    • Forgot to reply! I think this one comes down to batch size and popularity. As filters aren't as popular, many smaller roasters do smaller batches of filter roasts. While this reduces wastage it also reduces the amount of coffee produced from the same (or very similar) amount of staff time. And then if all other overheads are assumed to stay the same, you end up having to charge more on a per kg basis.

  • For those who tried Atypical Candid, it is still $39 for 1kg bag + 2 wine glasses.
Ordered one again last night (going back to Candid from one of my favs, ONA aspen)

    • Glad to hear it :)

Lots of Moccona fans here… I don't understand the wine glass bundling but the discounted /kg prices seem decent if they are roasted properly.

    • Absolutely! My parents love a bit of Moccona too. Yeah it's a bit random, we got hold of some red wine glasses a few months and people responded well.

Always a combo of good green and roasting which is definitely being taken care of here :

      • What was the cupping score for the Atypical - Ethiopia Yirgacheffe if you don't mind me asking?

        • I've just fired off an email to get the exact number, but from memory it should be around 85.

  • Don't really need the wine glass…..Anything else you guys provide haha maybe even the Tin?

    • As in the Atypical tin? We can probably pinch a couple of empties :) (obviously unused!)

  • Which of the beans has the most tea-like, fruity/floral taste? My friend had some yirgacheffe coffee bags as favours for her wedding and it was so good, but the yirgacheffe beans I've tried thereafter didn't seem to match the lightness. The closest I got was Ethiopian koke honey.

    • Let me have a check! Do you know who roasted that Yirgacheffe you tried last time?

      • It was a Taiwanese company, so I have very little info, sorry.

  • So some reason the discount doesn't apply at the checkout 😕

  • Any idea if the Yirgacheffe will be back in stock soon?

    • All gone I'm afraid :(

  • Hey hey, any chance of offering any other bundles for filter roast in future? I am not interested in getting a kilo of the Hey Buddy blend if I am honest :)

    • Evening! Are you thinking preset bundles, 1kg of a single origin or something else entirely? If it's the first two, we've got in on the to do list (second probably sooner than the first) :)

      • 4 x the best discounted filter bags is just a fraction more expensive than 1kg of Hey Buddy so that's what I have been doing. For the tiny price difference I prefer to get 4 x different bags. If I got 4 x bags of Pillar Rwanda Karambi it works out to $55.80, if I was being as cheap as possible.

        • Gotcha! We'll try and work on getting 1kg packs added to the Value Pack promotion a regular part of our process :)
