Plastic Container Says Dishwasher Safe, but Also “Max Temp 40 C”?

I bought some of these Ikea chesse grater containers https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/uppfylld-grater-with-container-…
And it says right there pop the whole thing in dishwasher. But at the bottom it says max temperature 40 degrees. Dishwasher must get a lot hotter than 40. So is it safe to put these in dishwasher?

Use google, put your dishwasher model number and check the max temp?

It says the mode I use, universal plus, gets to 65 degrees in rinse. The lowest temperature rinse mode goes up to 45 degrees. So I guess the machine isn't capable of doing down to 40 degrees and I should hand wash them.

The temp can also vary depending on the cycle chosen.

The tougher cycles (pots & pans, heavy washes etc) will be hotter than say eco or light wash cycles.

    Check your dishwasher!

turn off the water heating option, if able.

TBH, most dishwashers can be run without heating the water at all.

Eh I'll just hand wash them. I hand wash a lot of things actually out of fear it'll get ruined.

  • 40 degrees? That seems oddly low for plastic, most people don't even hand wash things at that low of a temp

Lol 40 degrees is too low to even shower in…

Most likely just covering themselves from issues. Pop one in and see how it goes! They are cheap enough!

We have a general rule in the house, anything that isn't dishwasher friendly is normally tossed out ;)

  • Surely the worst that can happen is a little warping around the thinner plastic. We’ve had a few lids go floppy after dishwashing (oh and a crazy straw straighten out)
