CTEK CT5 Start/Stop Battery Charger - 40-166 at repco for $88
This charger is better than mxs 5.0 if your car has start/stop according to google search

https://www.carguide.ph/2017/04/ctek-ct5-startstop-is-must-f….
Like its best-selling MXS 5.0, which has an 8-step charging process, the CTEK CT5 START/STOP delivers a charge rate of 5 amperes per hour, enough for most cars and SUVs. Unlike the MXS 5.0 though, it delivers a higher voltage of charge required by deep cycle or EFB batteries.

old tech that doesnt charge lithium batteries, i had to buy twice after getting a similar ctek charger

  • Logic tells me once the battery is fully charged and charger is disconnected how good it's for stop/start is dependent on the battery and car🤔

think this is a cut down version of the mxs5… it has less features, with the same power output.. no mode button for different battery options..
also saying a battery charger is better for cars with stop/start shows its snake oil sales pitch for the people that dont know any better..

    • please see more details from a google search and happy to have anyone correct me :)

      • Just marketing bullshit, stop start or not won't make a difference. Lead acid is dumb, as long as you don't let it drain out to dead you will get a few years out of it. But it will die a sudden death anyway no matter how expensive your charger is. A $30 projecta one will do the same job regardless, it might even pump more than a pathetic 5amp anyway.

        • Add to that, the article is just a marketing piece of bloatware that explains nothing superior about this charger, if you have some basic knowledge about battery and electronics.

      • Stop/start batteries simply have higher CCAs and designed to be cycled more. Nothing magical about the charging process. If you swap out the special (and crazy expensive) battery in your car for a standard one I'm pretty sure it will work and charge just as well (just won't last as long).

That said I really hate S/S. I wonder how much petrol you can save to offset the extra $200-300 you have to spend to change the battery.

        • Thanks for the info. I actually hate that function and turn it off most times. Noise from restart is worse than engine running all the time. sounds like I should be getting the other mxs5.0 given that has more functions.
