[VIC] Free Can of Fanta Orange 250ml @ Melbourne Central Railway Station

600

There's a whole bunch of people giving out free ice cold cans of Fanta Orange at the Swanston Street exit of Melbourne Central Railway Station, dunno how long they've been there but they were there when I picked up one just after 12:20pm

Fun fact: Fanta was created in Nazi Germany due to the US trade embargo that prevented the import of Coca Cola syrup

    • Cool!

Tons of iconic consumer products were created in Germany during Nazi rule: Adidas shoes (famously used by Jesse Owens during the 1936 Berlin OIympics), Jagermeister (named in honour of Herman Goring, lol), the modern birth control drug, the Wankel rotary engine, Jerrycans, the magnetic tape (as used by VHS/compact cassettes and tons of other formats), the first mass-produced television sets and low-cost radio receivers, to say nothing of all the modern-day German corporations with significant ties and history with the Nazi party and Nazi war effort.

My cursory search said that Jägermeister was named after the Jägermeister (translation: hunt master) who was an official in charge of hunting/gamekeeping matters for centuries prior to Jägermeisters (the drink) invention. I assume the reason for the name is the inventor's interest in hunting

At the time, Herman Göring was Reichsjägermeister (Reich hunt master) and the Germans, being familiar with the position sometimes called it Göring-Schnaps

So from the Wikipedia page, it's not named in honour of him but some people did use his name when referencing the drink

Interesting promo… pure branding. I mean, we've all hand Fanta before.

    • Huh?

    • I remember years ago they had all these different flavours of fanta, I liked their pineapple and their passionfruit ones.

Isn't it just Fanta, What is Fanta orange

    • -1

It's the orange flavour Fanta. There are many other flavours.

      • @onetwothreefour lol.. yes, but if just say Fanta it means its the orange flavour.

        • -1

          Maybe to you it does.

No you just haven’t tasted purple grape Fanta yet not available here

    • There's even 'flat' Fanta available through the Coca Cola Freestyle machines overseas, quite different to the normal one sold here 😉

    Fanta-stic!

  • fyi, this contains ACESULFAME-K and SUCRALOSE

    Sunkist > Fanta

    • 100%, KFC are insane phasing it out

      • O really? That's bad news :(

  • +1

    ah Fanta, the Fuhrer's choice

  • It doesn't taste as good as before… less intense and less colouring

    • +2

It tastes awful now. Flavour is more like a weak Berocca.

  • As a kid I remember Fanta coming in all sorts of colors - green yellow red orange purple - we could go through a case of 24 bottles in a few hours. It’s weird how they don’t sell the other flavors direct and we have to go through an Asian grocery store to get the other flavors.

I think you can only get raspberry at colesworth

but Grape fanta was the shit
