About this item
Deco uses a system of units to achieve seamless whole-home Wi-Fi coverage — eliminate weak signal areas once and for all!
With advanced Deco Mesh Technology, units work together to form one unified whole-home network with the same network name. Devices automatically switch between Decos as you move through your home for the fastest possible speeds.
A Deco M5 three-pack delivers Wi-Fi to an area of up to 510 metres, while a Deco M5 two-pack delivers up to 350 metres. And if that’s not enough, simply add more Decos to the network anytime to increase coverage.
Deco M5 provides fast and stable connections with speeds of up to 1267Mbps and works with any internet service provider (ISP) and modem.

Mine very stable, must be some thing wrong with your device.
i dont get any dropouts…..ever.
Using it all day, every day, 5 person household, with many IOT gadgets.
Always keep your firmware up to date!
you might need to reposition your devices??
No issues with mine in the last 12 months since purchasing.
Not to be harsh but that sounds like that has something to do with something else on your end.
This has consistently been reviewed as one of the best value mesh available even after all these years.
Also have the same unit and get incredible coverage as well as am actually able to get the full speeds we pay for which ironically doesn't happen when you use the router that Telstra provides.
WOW!! Bargain price, I am using this exact model, 3-pack, at my place…..pretty big place and it totally made the world of difference to wifi coverage, super happy with it.
I've been using 3x setup of these for the last 2+ years. They have been great. I am only using the Wifi portion with a separate router.
What speed are those using this getting at other nodes. Im looking to upgrade from Tenda mw5's
This or the eero 5?
The Wifi connection and mesh experience highly depend on the floor plan and the location of the NBN box at home.
I started with 3-pack M5 but then got additional two M9 (M9 devices have a dedicated Wifi channel for the connection between them) to resolve the connection/poor signal issue caused by the doors and walls between the living room and the NBN box.P.S I should have bought 3-pack M9 instead of 3-pack M5.
Do these work with PPPoE?
Yes, PPPoE works fine with these
Deco is compatible with all ISPs and has Dynamic IP (IPoE), PPPoE and VLAN ID.
Not for FTTN (DSL)
Authentication protocols and nbn tech types are two different things.
Deco M5 is compatible with FTTN if you put a VDSL2 modem in-front of it. In most cases the setup is;
FTTN, FTTB = VDSL2 modem configured as a bridge + Deco M5 configured as a router.
FTTN, FTTB = VDSL2 modem/router + Deco M5 configured as Wi-Fi access point(s).
FTTC = nbn NCD + Deco M5.
FTTP, HFC, fixed wireless = nbn NTD + Deco M5.
Just FYI check your local bunnings.
I had seen this sitting with the smart home stuff for about $150 for a few months. The other day it dropped to $75.
Thanks for the advice. Just managed to snag the last box at my local Bunnings for $149 though I had to ask the staff member since they kept it in the stockroom at the back.
No Wifi 6? Does that matter?
One important thing to know/do, is ensure the network "flow" is in a logical order.
I installed 3 of these originally along our house, and then added a fourth in between two due to slow speeds.
This initially didn't fix anything, and it was only when I looked into the connectivity between them that I realized the fourth (which should have been second in the chain) was stupidly connecting to the "end" one out in my shed.
Once I rearranged them logically (from memory had to reconnect one at a time in sequential order), speeds went through the roof
Do these have to be set up in a chain? I have the nbn box in the middle of my house, so I want to connect Deco2 to Deco1 and Deco 3 to Deco1 (as Deco1 will be in the middle of the house plugged into the nbn box). Do I need to go Deco1 > Deco 2 > Deco 3?
I’m almost certain you can setup like that.
If nothing else is working, try setting up base, then first satellite, then disconnect power to that satellite, and repeat setup. Once all done, plug all the unplugged ones back in
I have the 3 x M5 pack for about 2+ years and use the ethernet backhaul between the house an outlying cabin, works really well. You can hard set Wifi devices that are static (ie tv's,desktops) in the config. The mesh system works well, for the price its good value.
I have a subfloor under a concrete slab in my home which gets very poor wifi coverage from current modem. If I grab one of these anyone know if I can connect one of the nodes with an ethernet cable instead of relying on the repeated wifi? As I'd like to run a cable into the subfloor and connect a node there to give the area coverage.
And I also want to retain an ethernet cable to my gaming desktop in the main house.
Would this be possible with Deco M5?
I have used this with ethernet over powerline, if that's what you are asking.
You can connect these via ethernet cable.
I have the first one connected to a switch. Xbox, PC and the next node also connected to the switch. It didn't require any special configuration, it just works.
In other words yes you can cable them and also keep the PC hardwired.
