such good reviews… I wonder though, how come you need an adapter for windows? why can't you just use Bluetooth?

    • +5

I -think- you can use bluetooth to connect, but the adapter is lower latency / higher polling rate.

    • +1

In Bluetooth mode it emulates a Switch Pro controller, in 2.4GHz it supports XInput.

So your mileage will vary if you sync it as Bluetooth.

  • Does cash back work with this?

  • Will this work with the PS Remote Play app connected to the iPad?

    • +1

The official PS remote play requires a DualSense controller iirc.

      • +1

        Yes, or Dualshock 4.

        • +1

Yep correct sorry, just assumed they were talking about PS5!

          • +1

@mangobango: You can also use the DS4 to play ps5 games but only via Remote Play.

            • @The Value: Oh really? Didn't know that, assumed it was DualSense only for PS5 even on the official remote play app. Good to know.

      • AFAIK 8BitDo controllers in ‘A mode’ emulate a DS4 controller (they’re even detected as such) so it should work?

    • you can use chiaki for remoteplay, it will work with chiaki

      • On Android yeah, but don't believe they have an iOS app.

      • And also PSPLAY on Android or MirrorPlay on iOS.

  • What makes this better than the SN2 pro? Out of interest.
I get the feeling it might be heavier in the hand too

    • +3

Charging dock, different shape, hall effect sticks that should last longer

    • +1

I have both. Prefer this because i like the xbox style where left joystick is closer to my thumb.

    Purchased - thanks!

Great but gotta say, I really was expecting more from prime day than a few dollars off here, a few dollars off there.

I have wish lists stocked and ready and almost nothing has reduced in price at all.

    • +3

Prime day is getting less and less attractive every year. You may want to lower you expectations a bit. I haven't spent a single dollar on the past 2 prime days.

    • +1

Unfortunately this is Prime Day sales now. Nothing is really on sale.

    • I was thinking the same. I was tossing up between this white one (needed Prime Membership) and the black one. White one was about $5 cheaper than the black one but needed to pay $9.99 for Prime. I ended up pulling the trigger for the white controller anyway because I figured I'll make use of the subscription for a month + whatever else I might end up buying from Amazon.

      • The white looks good. Plus honestly, the subscription is cool. Prime Gaming and Prime Video make it worth it.

    • How interesting - I'm the exact opposite. Hadn't spent a cent during Prime Day for a few years but have already spent over $1500 last night on a camera, accessories, an external HDD, and am currently considering this controller, headphones, and a wireless charger for my phone (probably won't though because I've already spent way too much!)…

I think what it really comes down to is people finding deals and posting them here, because I've noticed some items on my Amazon wishlist aren't included in Prime Day but then it's posted on Ozbargain under a separate listing for the Prime Day 'version' (just do a search on Amazon and you can see the two versions in the results for some items).

    • Pretty sure the MSRP on this is $120, regularly on Amazon for $99, with regular sales at $87… how much lower do you want to go?

      • Half price would be a good sale.

And its been $87 for a while

        • Considering it's a new and low margin product with with significant R&D behind it, not sure I agree $60 is fair… that's the sale price of an XBox controller.

You'd be lucky to see those hit $40 at end of life, and they're far cheaper built beyond the chassis design.

          • @jasswolf: I know but this is a huge sale by a huge company. I'm hunting bargains here, not $6 off the normal price.

They're a massive company. This is their sale event of the year. Let's gooooooo!

Will this be ok to control my submarine?

    • +1

Yes, but you'll need an adapter.

    • You beat me to the joke!

Also I think only Game Cube controllers are compatible with subs.

  • +3

Buying so I can think about playing in 10 years when the baby gets older

    • +2

The day will come! My kids are around 10 and the main thing holding back my gaming is them hogging the PC. It's pretty cool playing Minecraft with them :)

      • 🥲

        • +2

My kids (5&7) love watching me play Zelda… there is hope for you!

      • I do “Minecrafternoons” couple times a week with my 7 & 4. Spent 2 weeks building a sonic house for 4yo then he accidentally blew it up with TNT in minutes….
OB tip. Purchased Minecraft on the android tablet for $9.99 and was able to use the same Minecraft account with separate Microsoft account in another PC simultaneously.

Reviews say this doesn’t work with an iPhone. Can someone please confirm if it does or doesn’t?

  • I have the 8Bitdo Pro2 controller, while that one is an amazing alternative to pretty much XB controllers and Joycons, I find the triggers a bit sensitive. Playing Diablo 4 with it and I randomly trigger some skills

Wondering if the Ultimate is also sensitive e.g light touch triggers input.

Trying to decide between Gullikit KingKong and 8BitDo Ultimate, thanks!

    • You should be able to adjust the trigger point in the app

      • Whaaaattt havent explored that thanks!

  • Does anybody here know if this works with the nvidia shield? specifically when gamestreaming over steam, and if it does which model works best?

    • It does work with the shield.
Im bot sure about gamestream and steamlink though becausei use sunshine/moonlight for my gaming.

      • Hey @Pwoar hoping you can help me out

I've got it set up on the shield, i'm able to use the controller to controller the shield, and can also use it in steamlink

however as you would expect, steamlink is pretty cr4p compared to sunshine/moonlight. So i tried it with sunshine/moonlight and i can't get the controller to work with this. It only works in mouse mode, which is pretty pointless. Any pointers to get sunshine/moonlight working well with this controller?

        • Sounds like you might have some configuration issues if its defaulting to mouse mode.

Regardless to toggle between mouse mode and control mode you hold start (the right of the middle buttons) for a couple seconds and it should switch over. The screen does have a popup to indicate that it has.

          • @Pwoar: Yeah have been toggling, that toggle was the only way to get the mouse to work. Are you able to show me your config settings?

            • +1

@whitepuma: Just want to mention that I didnt change any of these settings they were default. I recommend you uninstall clear out all old files and reinstall. Either way, my sunshine configuration pages:
Configuration> General . Choose the appropriate gamepad for you tcontroller there. Im using x360
Configuration>Input and play around with those settings there, its pretty self expalantory.

              • +1

@Pwoar: Just want to say, managed to figure it out. my settings were all correct. so i reinstalled sunshine, gave the computer a restart and it all started working perfectly :-)

                Cheers for the help @Pwoar

  • I'm a ps5 and pc player, after years' gaming, I do think Bluetooth would have delays. Especially the qte games, like dead by daylight

    • This is not only for controllers, but also mouse and keyboard. I think wired < 2.4g <<<<<<<<<<<< Bluetooth for delays features. Yes, it is.

    • You're not wrong, this includes a 2.4 adapted for PC, Bluetooth is mostly for switch compatibility
