OZB_GHOST_SPECIAL

Morning OzBargain!

Again, I’m just astonished at how much support we’ve received from our last deal. We’ve only just had the time to whip up a new deal after fulfilling our orders.

I will keep it short and sweet again for OzBargain. Today, we’ll run back a similar 4070 build like our last deal but with some changes! Unfortunately, the new AMD stock prices have gone up due to our Aussie dollar dipping slightly to the US dollar and increased costs overall from AMD. I have done everything I can again in this new deal to bring the price down from our previous one without compromising quality. We are now using an upgraded MSI B650 board compared to the Gigabyte B650 K (better build quality and more ports available). I have beat the PCPartPicker price by $173 despite all this using the latest componentry with marginal discounts.

As always, our prices are unbeatable in the industry with the componentry we use as we operate on the slimmest margins.

You will receive a free copy of Starfield (valued at $119.95) with each purchase as part of our promotion!

Our reviews and Google Reviews are a testament to our service

We’ve also been working extremely hard with the feedback given over the months and are excited to announce the following:

  • We are now stocking more white options due to popular demand – you’ll notice a white chassis, CPU coolers, keyboards and mice!
  • We are now stocking accessories that we think have astronomical value. This includes peripherals like Keychron keyboards, premium mouse mats and MSI monitors! There are bundle and save options available as well with your purchase!
  • We are now also stocking premium Noctua CPU fan coolers due to popular demand
  • The all-new Lian Li Galahad II Trinity has just landed in Australia and is in stock with us
  • We have increased our Staffing to offload workload and improve operations so that I can focus on working out the best bargains for the community
  • Any bottlenecks in our workflow have been eliminated and where possible we have automated workflows

To maintain our service quality, our despatch times are now estimated to be 7-10 business days as we still are a small team and are finding difficulty meeting demand. We strive to work to work on your PC immediately, our working schedules have currently been the time we wake up and sleep 7 days a week. Our promise is that quality comes first for us, we do not rush our work.

Once despatched, our delivery times are unbelievably fast as we use premium express couriers nationwide to uphold our service! The following are our estimated delivery time frames with our couriers after despatch:

  • Metro Sydney – Same-day delivery (for business addresses, authority to leave and customers available to take delivery)

  • All PCs shipped are packaged carefully – no internals can move during transit as we use Instapak foam that moulds around parts inside along with fragile stickers and tape all over your box
  • Your PC is built with passion, we don’t take shortcuts and keep all cabling tidy whether you can see them or not

This deal will run for strictly one week until next Sunday, July 16th. Our stock is extremely scarce with the amount we've secured for this deal!

  • can we have atx mb option ?

    • +6

      Hey Myth88,

Absolutely! Shoot us a message on our live chat and let's work out which board you're after. We've got some ATX boards in stock mate :).

    • +1

  • can I have 3080 instead of 4070

    • +7

      Hey Shabaka,

Please shoot us a message on our live chat, the way our discounting works is that we purchase in bulk to pass on the discount.

I will try my best with a 3080 and see what my suppliers can do to bring down your price mate!

      • much appreciated my mate

    • Why 3080? 4070 with 12gb VRAM alone will outweigh anything else, not to mention 4070 has DLSS 3, more energy efficient.

      • currently have 3080, worth to upgrade to 4070?

        • +5

          nope

        • No, but if you’re choosing new GPU between 3080 or 4070? I think 4070 at least worth $100 extra even their similar performance. As 4070 has 12gb VRAM, DLSS 3, more energy efficient (lower temp). The extra benefit upgrade from 3080 to 4070 doesn’t even worth $300, 4070 cost way more than that.

          • @stevelo: 4070 memory bandwidth is a lot more limited though. 3080 will do better at 4k.
also the 4070 is worse for emulation due to such poor bandwidth. i'd go the 3080 honestly. 4070 is junk imo. dlss3 isn't worth paying extra for

            • @S1nn3r86: https://www.techradar.com/versus/rtx-4070-vs-3080
              3 categories
              3080 - 0 wins
              4070 - 2 wins
              Tie - 1

You can definitely place your bet on 3080 10gb VRAM, I will not suggest $900 3080 10gb VRAM to people I don’t hate in 2023. Even 12gb VRAM is on the edge in 2023. It’s the same choice you make in 2022, more expensive 3070 ti 8gb Vs cheaper 6800 16gb.

              • +1

@stevelo: Uhhh the link you showed me clearly has the 3080 ahead in most games at 1440p and 4k ? Not sure what you're on about lol. I paid $800 for my 3080 second at the start of the year, now ive seen them as low as $650. I think that would be the better option instead of supporting this crappy generation. The 4070 should of been what the 4070ti is. Most of models are a tier down from what they should be. If this card was $700 and called a 4060ti it might be worth it

                • @S1nn3r86: If you can find 3080 below $700, it’s a much better deal than $900 4070. But I’ve not seen a brand new 3080 below $800 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/3080%20type%3Aozbde…. 4070 is similar performance to 3080 if not better at 1440p, at 4K 3080 is slightly faster. https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/yWK8rTPGdyuM4o8pnTqBVm-120… https://tpucdn.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4060-ti-founder…
                  3080 and 4070 price atm https://au.pcpartpicker.com/products/video-card/#c=492,507,5…
I will choose 12gb VRAM, DLSS 3, better energy efficient 4070 for similar price.

                  • @stevelo: the 3080 is faster at 1440p and even more so at 4k. dlss3 is junk imo. whats the point of fake frames when it increases latency. maybe sometime in the future it could be worthwhile tech. the only benefit of the 4070 is that its more efficient.
dont forget the 3080 also has a 12gb model too

                    • @S1nn3r86: 4070 is faster at 1440p, check again above link. 3080 10gb is $10 cheaper than 4070 (link above), how much is 3080 12gb? Link? Or you just bluffing?

                      • @stevelo: bluffing? lmao im just pointing out that there is a 12gb model. the first link you shared "(techpowerup) showed the 3080 being faster at both 1440p and more so 4k. the other one you shared shows a 1fps difference in the average. hardly a win. thats within margin of error. 4k is the limiting factor, i play at 4k so for me the 4070 isnt as good. its also alot worse in emulation. At least for switch emulation which is something im into. The lack of bandwidth is a limiting factor. both cards are over priced honestly. the 3080 should be lower in a price by now and the 4070 is a joke at the price. its not a huge incease over the 3070 so it doesnt justify the increase in price. the only decent cards from nvidia this gen are the 4080 and 4090 but they're over priced. if the 4080 was under $1,400 it would of been a decent card

                        • @S1nn3r86: Check https://youtu.be/qsC9VXK3ct0 at 0:35, especially 1% low fps then you know what am talking about. will games require more VRAM in 2024/2025? Most likely.
                          I agree that both 3080 10gb $889 and 4070 $899 are overpriced, 3080 12gb even cost $1149, compared to 4070ti $1169. https://au.pcpartpicker.com/products/video-card/#c=492,507,5…
                          It’s okay if you think 3080 10gb>4070 or 3080 12gb>4070ti, it’s your money.

                        • @S1nn3r86: thanks for the comments about the switch emulation. I'm looking at building/buying my first PC and was hoping to have good performance for both switch games and stuff like Elden ring, starfield, armored core 6 etc.

suppose i'll need to read up more on bandwidth. Not sure how much i should spend before diminishing returns really sets in…. perhaps 2.5-3k

don't want to waste too much time thinking since iv'e already been procrastinating on buying a pc for like…. 10 years lol. i'm sick of being a 30fps pleb

                          • @comalley888: i used to be one of those 30fps console only people also haha until about 3 years ago when i got my first gaming pc. i still use it like a console, its hooked up to my 75" tv and i use my series x controller lol. but now i can play at whatever settings i want. i can never go back to 30fps…it literally makes me nauseous and gives me a headache lol. i cant remember where i saw it but someone tested a 4070 against a 3080 with the yuzu switch emulator and it ran alot better on the 3080 because of the bandwidth being alot better. so for emulation i wouldn't bother with anything under a 4080 with this gen and they're horribly priced still. if they were down to under $1,400 it would be a decent buy imo. its only a matter of time :) they'll keep coming down in price

          • @stevelo: @stevelo & @S1nn3r86, may be take your readings as a guide-only.
Note that the systems used in these tests are more-superior than what you'll buy, eg better CPU, Mobo, cooling, ram etc.
It's likely that your system will deliver slightly-lower FPS than the findings of those reviews.
Ohh, there is the fudge-factor via paid-reviews….they want you to spend.
            Happy gaming.

            https://www.techspot.com/review/2663-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070…

            • @ab c: Everything i said just my opinion if i have to choose between 3080 10gb or 4070. In your 2nd link, i can't agree more on "we'll quickly note that 12GB is now what we consider to be the bare minimum - that is to say, you shouldn't purchase a graphics card with less than 12 GB VRAM when spending over $200 in a new GPU. It is our opinion that 8GB should be reserved for entry-level gaming products now, and anything less than 8 GB isn't suitable for current generation gaming."

      • 320bit bus width

I'd rather have raw power for 4k instead of fake frames, thank you

        • They have similar raw power…
          https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/yWK8rTPGdyuM4o8pnTqBVm-120…
          https://tpucdn.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4060-ti-founder…
But, 4070 12gb VRAM, DLSS 3, less power bills, less cooling needed, cheaper PSU needed. Not saying 4070 is great, but still better than 3080 10gb.

          • @stevelo: those are 1440p. what about 4k numbers?

            • -1

@shabaka: 4K also similar performance, but 3080 on top 4070 below. few fps difference, vs the benefit 12gb VRAM, DLSS 3, better energy efficient? Get a 4070 if price is similar bro.

              • +1

@stevelo: that's the problem, it isn't. for more money I am getting the same performance, even less at 4k, and supposed to be happy, but nah, I am not buying 4070

                • @shabaka: Except you can get a good deal on 3080, https://au.pcpartpicker.com/products/video-card/#c=492,507,5…. They are similar price, your money your choice.

                  • +3

@stevelo: except with 3070 hitting $540 last sale, 3080 12gb should really be this price

not in a rush, I reckon market for 40x0 cards is not going anywhere. 4070 is definitely not the card to get, it's gimped. not going to pick it ip without solid gen on gen step forward. am I supposed to believe that lower wattage and fake frames is what I should be looking for? well yeah, I would like to see all that plus some solid performance bump without cheaping out on the bus width.

team green rolled out 4k capable cards too early and now they've got nothing else to give, so they are now taking it away essentially (or holding out on the generational improvement deliberately) to upsell higher tier cards.

dirty games says I, and I will not finance this out of my pocket.

      • stop watching hardware unboxed and thinking VRAM is the only thing thats important, like wtf

        • -1

As long as you have the VRAM needed for the games and graphic setting you desire, it's not important. You still can use 6gb or 4gb VRAM GPU as long as you happy with the low graphic setting or low resolution. There are few other reviewers beside hardware unboxed saying the same thing, you don't have to believe them. But i am don't think they will lie about something to destroy themself.

        • I am playing The Last Of Us on 3070 (8gb VRAM) in 4k fine (DLSS quality preset), but it's a tight fit

but I won't be playing it unless I got it free with a GPU I recently purchased

console ports belong on consoles, and that's where I intend to play them, if I even intend to.

plenty of great AAA titles play fine on 8gb in 4k. all this VRAM hysteria is laughable

          • -1

@shabaka: Great, stick to your 8gb VRAM 3070. Will it last longer than cheaper 6700xt? 3070 already proofed has VRAM issues in few games, are you expecting it performs better in 1 or 2 more years? Oh yeah, you still can reduce your graphics settings, save yourself money and buy a 3060 when you can lower your settings further.

            • +1

@stevelo: DLSS >> FSR / ASR, and I need CUDA, so yes it'll last longer and happier

at any rate I am not seeing a valid upgrade path at the moment, unless 3080 12gb gets reasonable price, or 4070 Ti at least

              • @shabaka: DLSS 3 much better than DLSS 2? So 4070 better ?
8gb VRAM last longer than 12gb VRAM? or are you saying 4gb or 6gb VRAM GPU will last longer than 8gb VRAM GPU too? Read more reviews bro. Those people spend thousands hundred’s dollars into their testing machines.

                • @stevelo: DLSS 3 is incremental improvements over DLSS 2, not worth the jump. apart from fake frames to boost FPS to hide bus width drop, which is a dirty trick nothing else

12gb is fine and 8gb is fine today, but no real reason for upgrade today, and no sensible upgrade path either..

              • @shabaka: Both 3080 and 4070 are overpriced

  • +21

I am not going to buy as i am not into gaming but upvoted for such a passionate details mate, good luck!

    • +1

      Legend mate! Cheers!

      • +3

Same! Competition in this space is always welcome.

  • What would this cost if you did it yourself?

    • +1

      Hey Leftspeaker,

The lowest price to do it yourself excluding any shipping costs to you is listed PCPartPicker price here - https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/mMtPbK

Let me know if you have any other questions mate!

      • +1

Thanks! I shoukd have looked myself.

    • +1

Roughly 2k if you go by the picker list shown in the deal.

      • How do they makec money? Lol

        • +8

Haha, we get this question a lot actually! What we do is we operate on the slimmest of margins just to stay afloat. We secure bulk stuck from our suppliers and pass on this discount to our customers as we believe in this industry there should be more fair and transparent prices.

  • -7

    TLDR. ;)

    • +6

Haha, I thought I did well this time with the length. I tried with as many dot points as possible, too much to cover!

AMD wraith stealth Stock cooler on a 7600X?

The 7600X does not come with a stock cooler, placing a previous gen stock cooler on it will cause thermal throttling (3:48):

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poo82SUm934

Might even get better performance with a 7600 and the include wraith prism cooler

    • +4

No, it doesn't. That's why we had to purchase them separately for the 7600X. It's not the best cooler for performance and we would definitely recommend upgrading to an aftermarket option.

We are trying to keep the cost down as much as possible for OzBargainer's, the Wraith cooler suffices but isn't the best. There are plenty of options on our website to upgrade to an aftermarket air cooler for a reasonable price!

The Prism cooler doesn't come with the 7600 either, only with the 7700 and 7900. If we were to use those CPUs in our base build, it'd increase the cost and diminish value sadly.

Hopefully, that clears it up a little for you!

      • Your right the 7600 comes with a wraith stealth, my bad

But I have to disagree regarding thermal throttling. The 7600X will not boost up to 5.3GHz for any kind of sustained period with the stock cooler. Based in the video it pretty much instantly throttles back the speed.

If you watch the video you would see it instantly spikes to 95 degree and pulls back the clock speeds to below 5Ghz.

The entire point of getting the 7600X over the 7600 is higher clock speeds out of the box. With the stock cooler the 7600X drops below the max boost of the 7600 (5.1GHz).

If you are going to knee cap the 7600X like that you may as well get a 7600 and chuck the included stock cooler on it and save yourself some cash

Just chucking on a stock cooler to be able to say you have the X variant is a waste in my opinion, you are not getting any performance improvement in this scenario and you are spending more.

        • +1

Got it. Will keep that in mind in future.

In most cases, most of our customers who purchased our previous build upgraded the CPU cooler so that the throttling won't happen. Though, with that being said, it's important to note what you said.

In future, I will see what I can do with the pricing and stock for the 7600. At the time of writing this, the 7600 was out of stock nationwide so we had to go with the X and wraith cooler (additional cost). It's not preferred by us at all to do it this way.

          • -2

@Nebula PC: Appreciate you taking on the feedback

I think its important potential buyers understand they are paying a $70 premium for the base build ($20 for the wraith stock cooler and $50 for the 7600x over the 7600) for no extra performance

Maybe its best to wait until the 7600 is back in stock and then you can give that as an option to those of us who don’t want to pay extra for performance they won’t see?

            • @jean360: Sadly there was no ETA on the 7600 CPU stock since a month ago, we have to keep operating despite this and provide the best possible deal for the community at the time. In an ideal world, everything would be in stock but it's not the case as we are ordering from a plethora of suppliers to provide the best deal for our builds.

The extra performance customers will see for sure! Customers have the ability to upgrade to extremely fair-priced aftermarket air coolers :).

          • +1

@Nebula PC: Just on this, maybe in the post and the site have a section that says "Highly recommend to upgrade CPU Cooler to avoid thermal throttling"

        • +1

Good catch mate, will look into this cooler and pricing with suppliers.

          • +1

@Nebula PC: What about the peerless assassin 120? Extremely highly rated for a $60 cooler Linus Tech did a great review of it and it even kept up with water cooling.

            • +4

@XCelR8: @XCelR8 we tried stocking that but seems like they do direct distribution with Amazon only for Australia. They don't have a distributer locally meaning we can't get any discounts on that model and pass on the savings :(.

@Nebula PC: Great research and response!

Probably still worth stocking with a markup compared to the others :S

Not buying atm, but Support such an effort to genuinely make a deal. Flag and marked:) for later

    • Cheers mate!

  • I got a similar build a few months ago, upgraded to a better CPU cooler and a 4070Ti.

Nebula had fantastic customer service and I was very happy with the build time and they packaged the PC excellently for shipping. That GPU was not moving at all.

    • What was your final price with 4070i

      • So mine ended up being 2.5k total, I altered this deal

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/773118

Prices have dropped a bit since then, and Nebula include a 1TB SSD on this deal now, even with a lower price. I'm pretty sure I chose a different brand PSU as well which cost slightly more.

Great write up. As someone who’s just about ready to jump on an upgrade, I’ve been keeping an eye on deals like these. Great to see some more competition in the space!

    • Haha, awesome to hear! Let us know if you have any questions mate, happy to help!

Hey, thanks for posting again, I've been keeping an eye out for your next listing!

I tried upgraded to 7800X3D and 4080 and the code didn't work.

    • Hey Richplatt,

I just tried the same configuration and it seems to be working, could you shoot us a message on our live chat so we can get into more detail?

      Cheers!

      • Yup, working now thanks!

        • +1

Awesome, if it keeps happening I will simply remove the discount code and make our website price the deal price!

How much did this end up being 👀👀

  • If you're ordering make sure you note that you want the extra parts that come with your motherboard / psu otherwise you won't get them included.

    • I’m not familiar with builds. What kinds of extra part you mean?

      • Usually, extra cables from the PSU and motherboard that are not in use. We build our PCs to spec to reduce confusion with for people who aren't too familiar. If you require the extra parts please let us know!

        • Oh damn, have read this after placing my order a few hours ago, i would like those unused cables please

          • @SlightlyDusted: Could you PM me your order number? I'll make a note now mate! Cheers.

Bad practice to not include these with everyone's builds.
Particularly as you may not be around in future when people need them

          • +1

@Lonewolf1983: We'll honour them no matter what.

Prebuilds typically don't come with the extra cables due to the confusion caused for people who aren't familiar with PCs as mentioned earlier my friend. All our builds come ready plug and play :). Only a small minority of people request and require the spare cables.

            • +2

@Nebula PC: Every one I have bought has included it, as do I when I sell a PC

Put a label on the bag with single page explanation if it's "confusing"
People will probably appreciate you saying "hey don't throw these out, they may be useful in future!"

As I said, you may no longer be a business when people need the cables.

And are you posting them out to people when they need them?
Waste of your money to do this when it should be done at time of sale….

              • +1

@Lonewolf1983: They would most likely incur further shipping costs I'm assuming since the pc is packed tight, as you'd expect It would definitely cost more to accommodate everyone and when they're running on already slim margins, this just doesn't make sense, understandably.

                • @PotsyMcGoon: easily pack cables in the side of the boxes alongside the cases - there are voids in the foam

    • Do you mean we need to ask for the power cable for the PSU to the wall ? It’s not included?
Sorry, I have always used laptops for gaming, and now wanting to move into PC. Wang to make sure I have everything ready to go

      • +1

No you'll get that. But your expansion SSD standoffs won't be there or extra power cables, sata for expansion devices not included in the build.

        • Thanks. I will make sure I ask for a set as I have spare SSD I want to chuck in there

  • I bought it from Nebula from the previous deal with a few upgrades. Responses were always fast, even at night time. Can’t fault the customer service at all. Machine runs beautifully. I kind of wish I went with a full size mother board as the case I chose was massive

    • Because of how if looks?

  • +1

Tried updating the parts I wanted and then applying code with no prevail…. Could you guys check in on all your options prior to going live. ID cPK_Mks2oQV68hLAXauKm_-m

Hang on, we're just having some trouble with the discount code system for some reason… Working on it. It will work, just need to keep trying.

    • Or did I change too many things and the deal doesnt work like that :) ?

      • nono, you can upgrade and change as many things as you'd like and it will still apply the same discount amount!

      • I've just made a test build with multiple changes and it seems to be okay - https://gyazo.com/d9d11251ad66e539625b7083b38ed4bf

Could you double-check? If not I will simply change the price to the deal price without the discount code.

        • It's working! Thanks

          • @Gravehaunted: Awesome! Let me know if it happens again!

Sorry about that mate, very unprofessional of us.
