I usually get a physical sim at the airport.

    • No way….

eSims are cheaper and more flexible.

      • Agreed. Vodafone NZ pricing is shocking!

  • Do you have a Latitude 28° Mastercard? If so, it is free….

If not, download and create an account on the FlexiroamX app, and you will likely get a nice discount emailed to you soon after registering.

Their NZ data plans are pretty cheap.

  • I recently used one of these - it worked great:

I usually pick up a skinny sim at the nearest supermarket whenever I'm in NZ.

Did you get the Entertainment book for $10 the other day?

  • check https://esimdb.com/new-zealand for the best rates

monitor @TravelKon if they will have another deal

Just got back from NZ on a 10 day trip, they sell them at the airport for $49NZD for 10GB and 200mins + texts.

Don't recommend simsdirect esim, I purchased and it never worked had to chase them for refund on my holiday

  • I did Queenstown in April. I left it too late to get a travel SIM sent and I like having data as soon as I get off the plane.
$2 Optus SIM + $20 prepaid roaming (14 days, 10GB data only) was my choice.
I noticed it bounced between a few networks, but I always had service other than a few blackspots driving to Milford Sound.

  • Have a look at eskimo travel for Free Data.

    • Used this free trial (and a subsequent recharge) in Europe. Great service, easy to use. ESIM is a must for still receiving 2FA SMS etc from your usual number, whilst avoiding data charges for the rest.

  • I bought a vaguely dodgy travel sim before I went over in Feb, and was disappointed to find it not work when I arrived. Went to the Vodaphone kiosk in the airport and got the travel sim from there

For the convenience of having someone there to set it up on the spot, and confirm everything is working before you walk away, I'd absolutely spend a bit more. I also had enough data that I didn't need to worry about running out

I believe you can get it in the Duty Free section of the airport too, which will be slightly cheaper!

  • Hi there

I have an unused/unactivated One.NZ/Vodafone sim which I purchased for $49NZD. I'd be happy to sell it to you for $30AUD if you'd like. I have the receipt and you can pick it up from my place + take copies of my ID (in case you're worried about getting scammed). It gives you 10GB + unlimited NZ mins and texts for 60 days. Back story is my brother bought it for me when picking me up but I bought one inside the terminal!

    Dm if interested.

    Cheers
    Rich

  • Nomad esim but it’s data only. I went to NZ two weeks ago and paid $27 for 10GB for 30 days. Activated the sim before I left and it worked as soon as I landed there and switched on roaming. You can also activate it at the airport if they have free WiFi (Auckland airport had good free wifi).
