  • Is Forza any good these days? Last thing I saw was alot of it was built around online play and no real single player experience

    • +4

I think Forza Horizon 5 is amazing but I still prefer motorsport

    • +9

Forza Horizon 5 is incredible. Definitely an arcade racer but the cars feel weighty and handle really well. Great tracks, great open world, lots of variety with cars and terrain. Fantastic visuals and very well optimized. I'd rate it as my favourite racing game of all time, have easily sunk over 200 hours into it. Defo recommend

Good for single player though? Cant stand online racing games - literally one of the most toxic environments out there……..behind GTA Online

        • +6

The entire game can be played without having to participate in online events.

          • +2

@sallan75: Apart from the "Trials" achievements each week where you have morons trying to take you out when you're supposed to be working as a team to beat the AI players.

            • @dav3: So satisfying thrashing all the online jerks in the weekly Trial who try to ram you etc.

        • +1

Great for single player. I just like driving around the landscape and unlocking new cars in barns, taking part in a few races to get some cash, and buying different drivetrain upgrades to make my cars more interesting. I highly recommend a Morgan 3-wheeler with a six cylinder engine shoved under the bonnet.

        • Yeah I only play singleplayer. Sometimes it'll launch online but I can't even tell - if you're offline it'll fill the landscape with "drivatars" so it still feels alive, it's great. But all the events / races are made for single player and you can fine tune your difficulty (AI settings, breaking, steering assists, driving line etc.)

Also, your garage is earned through in-game currency, or by lottery wheel spins which are earned by leveling up, but no real world money / mtx is involved

but the cars feel weighty and handle really well

The vehicle handling in Forza Horizon 5 has ruined many other racers for me.

    • +11

Forza Horizon's most notable selling point has become it's greatest weakness - the number of cars/vehicles.

There are too many cars, now. The handling and sound is very generic for most of the cars.
Gameplay wise, it don't feel like there has been any note worthy improvement since 3.

If you like racing games and prefer vehicle physics which are somewhere between sim and the atrocious physics NFS use, then you will probably enjoy this.
I think it's worth $45 but unless a major change comes, I'm not enthusiastic about purchasing the next Horizon.
Across Horizon 3, 4 & 5, I feel like I've been playing the same game for several years, just with a different map.

      • +1

You sound like you know your racing games. Any better ones on PC you would recommend?

        • +2

Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione. If you're cashed up - iRacing

      • The upcoming Motorsport title has been left to develop for a while and is supposed to be a significant update to the vehicle physics. Hopefully that will translate down the line to the next Horizon title.

    • Yes it's the best one.

Not a bad deal paid $49 for a key from GTA about a year ago.

Never played 4 but 3 was the first one I played, good thing is Hospital records is in both of them :).

    • I know forza is really good, too good that I keep avoiding it even it’s on gamepass. I’m afraid of getting into another hobby and spending near thousands buying racing wheel and accessories.

  • +9

almost as much as 3 years of Gamepass - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/784047

which you mention is in the library

Some people Don't Wanna go through some turkey shit and also some people like to own their games on steam and the price is going up in 2 days

      • *Turkiye

      • +3

sure, just linking the deal since you mention gamepass in the OP.

  • +5

Loved Horizon 4…didn’t click with Horizon 5 at all. The map is too big and a bit boring compared to 4 with its amazing transitions through four seasons.

    • +17

Felt like horizon 3 had so much more character then the following two, maybe thats just bias since it was set in Australia

      • +7

maybe thats just bias since it was set in Australia

Maybe bias, but I think it's the best one.

        • +4

+1. Forza Horizon 3 for me, not because it was set in Australia, it just felt the best.
          Then FH2, followed by FH4.
          I really haven't enjoyed FH5.

    • +1

I played a bit of 3 (bit bummed didn't get DLC before delisted) and enjoyed 5 so might get 4 on this sale since it seems a common theme with players saying 4 is better.

  • +1

    Mehico

  • premium edition is 69 thats the one you want with all the dlcs. I have seen it cheap before on steam so i wouldn't say thats the best price.

  • +1

If you've played this via xbox on pc, can you migrate game to steam addition?

    • +3

Nope, they're completely separate. So new save game, and no DLC purchases will transfer

      • Thanks for the answers

  • +3

I think it's important to know that if you like this game specifically it is worth buying rather than rely on Gamepass. Because Microsoft removes older entries once the new sequel appears due to licencing issues etc

    • +5

Good to note, but majority of gamers aren't going back to play older FH's. And by that time, buy FH5 at that time if you want to keep it and go back and play it as it will be super cheap. Paying $45 for one game that's on gamepass with the cost of gamepass on these stackable deals is a waste.. A PC gamer should have gamepass already anyway as there is a whole library you don't have to buy separately. It's a no brainer if you like value for money.

      • +1

Yea play on game pass, if you want to play it still in 5 years time, it'll be $10 and so it then.

    • Past series entries, like Forza Horizon 2 and 3, vanished from digital storefronts roughly four years after launch; two years after their respective successors released. It's looking like this won't be the case for FH4 anyway, as its own 'end of life' period would be due in 2022

September 2022 forza community manager posted

Hey everyone, no need to worry, we’re not planning on delisting Forza Horizon 4 anytime soon!

at horizon 4's launch with the introduction of game pass i thought they had the licenses issue sorted out, maybe i confused this and it's just an extension

at minimum horizon 4 will be 5 years, expecting horizon 5 would be no less waiting maybe beneficial as prices typically drop to around $10-20AUD (H3) when delisting had been announced, prefer MS store version as i can play on both XBOX & PC and worst case scenario anyone who misses out i see the full PC versions on the deep seas, argh me hearties ☠️🏴‍☠️☠️

microsoft allows you to purchase keys to share with friends if you already purchased the game, saved a few FH3 spare keys for a rainy day, sad when i missed out on Forza Horizon 2 DLC with no hacked firmware to play now it's been delisted

  • +7

Pfft.. Just buy Gamepass. I couldn't imagine most PC gamers not taking advantage of PC gamepass. There is a lot of content. With the stackable deals going around, its cheap as chips right now.

    • +3

One reason is that gamepass is terrible on pc.
For example: I installed flight sim 10, tried it, then uninstalled it. Later find out the 100+GB is still on my hard drive and as the admin I need more rights and plenty of googling before I am allowed to remove these files.
You also can't run any game unless you are online and their servers are operational (including fully single player games like Guardians of the Galaxy).

It is not the normal PC way.

      • +1

i personally have never had any of these problems, in the xbox app there should be a setting to set a 'home' or 'primary' pc which allows offline play

        see PC Game Pass FAQ

Games from the Xbox Game Pass catalogue can be played while the PC is offline, but for no more than 30 days before the PC must reconnect to the internet to verify an active subscription.

and Play games on Windows 10/11 using offline mode

personally found some aspects of xbox games on PC superior to any other platform such as owning a game, not only playing with other user accounts on pc but also other user accounts concurrently, been many years since i tried this but was able to install Forza Horizon 3 & 4 on 4 seperate pc under the same microsoft account switch user profile on each pc and play multiplayer with all user accounts having purchased only one license

  • Has anyone played this on a M1 Mac through some sort of virtualisation?
