This Lenovo is a good business-grade monitor, it's not like the recently-posted Dell gaming monitors which have faster refresh rates. This one has a full dock built into it with Ethernet, and with USB-C connectivity it will power your laptop as well to really help reduce cable clutter. It's WQHD so has plenty of pixels, and while it's only 60Hz that's perfectly fine if you're looking at emails, spreadsheets, and documents all day long. I also find the 1500R curvature is very comfortable for my field of view.

If you're thinking of buying I would highly recommend opening an online chat with a Lenovo rep and asking for a better price. I did this when I bought the previous model and managed to get another $15 knocked off the price. I also tried cashback through Reward Gateway (8% on monitors), but I don't know if this will come through as it was a sale item - I'll know in a couple of weeks.

  • Is 34 big enough for an Ultrawide? Is it like two 24 inch 16:9 screens side by side?

    • Not quite, think of it as a 27",1440p monitor that has been stretched out sideways.

My wife isn't really technical at all, but I got her one (not this one) for wfh and she hasn't looked back.

Why should she look back, when the monitor is in front of her :p

        • To thank her husband for getting her a monitor

      A "normal" 1440p monitor typically consists of 2560 × 1440 pixels. (16:9 ratio)

This monitor consists of 3440x1440 pixels.(43:18 ratio)

So its just like a "normal' 1440p monitor with an extra 440 pixels of space on each side.

  • I feel like the 3423DWC is still the better monitor than this, and not to mention cheaper

      and not to mention cheaper

hmmm…not any more, it seems it's gone back to full price already.

The Dell is often less expensive when it's on sale and it's got a higher refresh rate, but it's also lacking the Ethernet port, only has 3x USB-A ports (the 4th is a USB-B), and with 1800R curvature it's going to be slightly flatter. I don't game or work on video so for my needs the Lenovo would be a better option, but some people would be perfectly happy with the Dell.

  • I’m not reading much on the Lenovo site but is it like a thunderbolt dock built into this monitor?

    • +2

The specs only say "1 x USB 3.2 Gen1 (Upstream, by USB Type-C)" so that means it's going to be a USB-C dock. If it was Thunderbolt then it should specifically mention so as that would be a selling point.

      • Thank for the details. Would definitely make it a huge selling point if it was.

just got myself the LG UltraWide Ergo 34WN780-B for $549 - not too shabby considering it's an IPS with great viewing angle and the only thing is it's flat - not curved. But I'm done with curved monitors now, after using that for a while whatever other monitor you see will be bent outwards…

BTW a 34inch ultrawide is basically 2 x 1720x1440 which is closer to a vertically stretched 16:9 1080p screen (1920x1080) and for WFH it's a great choice. For gaming I'd go for a 4k 40inch screen but that's just me.

    • Where did you find a 34WN780-B for $549? Cheers.
