Unsure if LenovoPro glitch or price error, but upgrading ram to 32gb seems to drop the graphics card and drastically discount the overall price (I'm confused as it doesn't present the option to drop the graphics card however it automatically does this when upgrading to 32gb ram)

8% shopback currently should yield a further $133.45 cashback bringing total out of pocket to about $1701.55

Seems to only work on LenovoPro (cant comment on edu store) and includes 3y on-site warranty.

Stand-out feature is the spectacular screen, however open to comments to understand whether you'd really be able to take advantage of the screen with only integrated graphics card.

Seems expensive for basically a business/office laptop? What software is going to benefit from 32gb memory but not an dedicated graphics card?

I bought a Lenovo a week ago from one of the other posts and seemed better value.

      Probably something like Google Chrome?

Lots of porn tabs that don't slow down Teams or Zoom video conferencing during school or work.

Software development? You don't need a dedicated GPU to connect 2 monitors.

      • Why bother with a 16" high res screen then?

        • I wasnt speaking about the screen, just 32GB and its use cases.

    • VM

    • Another thing i found interesting is that normal or Pro store doesnt advertise an igpu variant as description (before building) states it has a rtx4050 at a minimum… so could you potentially get lucky and be supplied with a 4050? Persoanlly i didnt want to risk plus im looking gor a 14"

I have been looking at the same model as the price dropped from 1 July. I had the same query on the screen without dedicated gpu. Reviews indicate battery life may not be so great (although most of the reviews are for the mini-led display on the 14" model) which might not be ideal. I am looking to upgrade from an XPS13 with Oled which only lasts 3 hours doing basic office work.

    • A 16" form factor is quite large especially after the portability of a xps13. If you're like and have it plugged into external monitors 90% of the time, and use it stand alone casually or on aircraft, go the smaller size.

A i7 processor is also potentially overkill for basic office work.

      • Thanks for the input, swaying towards the smaller size for the reasons you gave. Whilst I realise the i7 is probably a bit much, the software I use chews up Ram and so the 32GB is quite appealing.

        • I was surprised but DDR5 memory is much more effective than DDR4.
Been using a i7 32GB DDR5 machine for some cad stuff and it's performing better than the i9 with 128GB of DDR4.

    • Have you considered getting a new battery? I doubt anything in this price range would be much of an upgrade if you're just doing basic office work.

  • Sadly doesn't seem to be working on the education store 😞

  • It does work on EDU as of this morning

  • Using shopback will unlikely result in cashback because of the amount at stake. So just beware.

  • Seems the price has shot back up with Lenovo realising their pricing mistake. At the usual price and with such a small battery, there are definitely better options out there.

    • They seem they have reduced discounts accross their whole range. Upgrading to 32gb ram still removes graphics card and lowers the price, but as the model isnt reduced as much as it was previously, the overall cost after build is ~$300 higher.
