ASRock Z690M-ITX/ax DDR4 LGA1700 mITX Desktop Motherboard $229 Delivered + Surcharge @ Centre Com

270

Seems cheap for a z690 board with bios flashback.

ITX formfactor is a +, although it will come with all the - of being ITX (i.e. 2 dimm slots, etc) if you weren't actually after ITX.

Surcharges: 1.2% Card & PayPal, 2% AmEx.
Free shipping excludes WA, NT & remote areas.

Is there any other disadvantage to ITX besides 1 x PCIe and 2 Dimm slots?

Less I/O ports on the back, e.g. USB inputs

    • +1

      tighter cable management

      2 Dimm slots

This could be a good thing, if you ever look at supported RAM speeds the motherboards with 2 slots are usually rated higher.

      Less SATA?
Higher chance of getting finger pains while assembling?
      More costy case and PSU?

    • The disadvantages of ITX itself are the 2 you mentioned + less m2 slots, given there's not enough physical space for more than 2 mkey + 1 ekey (unless they use the underside).

Other than that, it's true that many mb manufacturers tend to skimp on IO ports on the back, although they don't actually have to.

I would buy mITX boards over ATX or uATX (where prices are roughly the same, like this deal) even when building in an ATX case given:
      1. no real use for more than 1 pcie slot.
      2. greater flexible to reuse in a smaller case later (i.e. when demoting a "main build" to htpc/storage array/etc).
      3. haven't "added" RAM "later" in over a decade.

      • They also have BT and Wifi as standard, whereas ATX /mATX boards don't always have it, and you need to read the description to see which ones do.

        • There are ITX boards out there that don't have Bluetooth or Wifi as standard. Only the cheaper ones though.

    • My biggest issue with itx are itx cases and fitting in big gpus.

While it is frustrating to have that constraint, you can put a positive spin on it and see it as a challenge, as enthusiasts do. One example would be Ali from Optimum Tech on Youtube, where he tries to pack in as much power into the smallest volume possible. Generally speaking, people who buy ITX boards are more likely to be enthusiasts, so GPU size isn't necessarily going to deter them.

This is a deal cause you normally pay a premium for the ITX form factor.
If you don't specifically need SFF (small pc) then don't buy this.
