Welcome to the ultimate guide of Xbox Game Pass subscriptions!

IMPORTANT UPDATE 26 JULY 2023:

OlduBil: "Transfers from foreign bank accounts to our bank accounts in Turkey are not possible".

  • OlduBil is no longer accepting deposits/transfers from foreign bank accounts. Please DO NOT make any transfers into OlduBil (i.e. your Türkiye Mastercard) until further notice!

  • If you already have the funds in OlduBil from a previous transfer, you are free to use it for anything. For those wanting to top up your Türkiye Mastercard, please DO NOT initiate any transfers into OlduBil from Wise or Revolut until I have a new update

  • This deal is expired and is effectively over at this point in time. Every transfer done is at your own risk!

18/07/23: OlduBil has increased their top-up fees to 9.3% (up from 6.25%) stating "Dear customer, our global operations cost increased due to high inflation rate in Turkish Lira. In order to continue the service we provide you we had to change our top-up commission to 9,3%. We appreciate your understanding and support."

Updates:

  • 26/06/23 11:40pm - Turkish Lira have crashed even more, so I've corrected all prices in this guide!
  • 26/06/23 11:40pm - Fixed the incorrect plan total amount, thanks to @6wolfy9
  • 27/06/23 1:30pm - Due to the sudden and large number of transfers from you guys, Wise is now giving a transfer date of 3rd July. Please avoid Wise if you can and go the Revolut route. I can confirm Revolut transfers are much faster within minutes (or hours at the latest). For those who have already initiated a transfer via Wise, feel free to cancel the transfer (or let it send anyway in case you want to buy cheap Turkey products and services or sign up to other cheap Turkey subs) and go to Revolut.
  • 28/06/23 1:00pm - Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer. - thanks to @netsurfer
  • 03/07/23 2:00am - Edited method, I'm so sorry for making all of you pay for an extra month for no reason for the 36 months plan. Please forgive me.
  • 04/07/23 6:30pm - Microsoft must have caught on, and are blocking OlduBil Virtual cards due to security issues (good fraud prevention). This is an easy fix, and THIS DEAL IS STILL WELL AND ALIVE! Here's what you need to do:
    • Log on microsoft, then go to Contact Us. Click "Contact us" to bring up the 'Contact us' window. For the first dropdown field "What are you having trouble with", select "Subscriptions and Billing". For the second dropdown field "What's the issue", select "I need help purchasing content". For the third field "Describe your issue", man up and say something. Click "Next" > "See contact options" > "Chat online" then you'll be connected with an agent instantly. Tell them you are not able to add your credit card and ask if there's a problem on your MS account. If they ask ridiculous questions, pretend it's all working fine and start a new chat.

Credits to @Scrooge McDeal, who suggested I make a guide on this awesome ALL TIME LOW deal! And you probably know me by now - if I make a guide, best believe it's gonna be good (let me know if someone else can do it better pls). Like Netflix and Disney Plus and literally every guide I've made, I spent a chunk of money out of generosity to test the current validity of this method (I tested transfers from Wise into OlduBil) as well as annotating screenshots throughout the sign-up process (see screenshots in the instructions section). From this testing, I believe this opens a new doorway to a variety of insane deals and prices we weren't able to previously obtain. Please show some love and any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

Modern problems require modern solutions. Like Youtube, Netflix, Discord, Google One, Microsoft 365, relocating (virtually of course) to Turkey is usually the best option, with some methods saving hundreds or thousands of dollars each year added up.

The processes below are very easy, just take it slow and you'll get there! Just remember you'll be saving hundreds at the end of the day. The 14 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan will cost ₺374,94 TL ($21.64 AUD, or $1.55/mth) and the 36 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan will cost ₺1034,72 TL ($59.68 AUD, or $1.66/mth). Note that despite the long term 36 month plan has a higher $/mth, it works out cheaper because if you signed up to 14 months, you'll be paying almost 3 times higher if you want to extend at the end of the 14th month.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • You must have no current subscriptions

Part 2a - Topping up your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard with Wise (App or Web)

Wise fee: ~A$2.13, OlduBil fee: 6.25% of transfer (~A$4.35 for a ₺1200 TL transfer)

Update: 28/06/23 1:00pm - **Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer.

  1. Log in or create an account on Wise. You can use the Wise website, or the Wise app on the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android).

  2. Top up Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Wise account (at least $30 AUD for the 14 month plan, $75 for the 36 month plan but no more than $160 because OlduBil allows a maximum deposit of ₺2750,00 TL ≈ A$160 per month). You can add Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Wise account via PayID (instant, no fee), POLi (instant, $1.18 AUD fee) or Manual Bank Transfer (business days only, no fee).

  3. Convert your Australian Dollars (AUD) to Turkish Lira (TRY). This conversion should be instant. To do this, click onto "Australian Dollar", then "Convert", then select AUD → TRY and type in the amount you wish to convert and press "continue" then "convert". Wise charges a 1.07% fee for AUD-TRY conversions.

  4. Send your newly converted Turkish Lira to your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard. To do this, click onto "Turkish Lira", then "Send", then select "Same currency". Enter the amount of Turkish Lira you wish to transfer (Note: Wise charges a ₺24.34 TL flat fee for a single transfer, so this fee will be added onto the amount you enter). Click "continue", then "New contact", then "Someone else". On this page, leave the "their email" box empty, and tick "I know their bank details". For the "Full name of the account holder" field, type in "TURK ELEKTRONIK PARA A.S." and for the "IBAN" field, type in the IBAN you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. Continue and in the "Review transfer details" section (see screenshot), double check everything is correct and then for the "Reference for TURK" field, you must type in your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard number (without spaces). Tick the confirmation box and then "Confirm and send". This transfer will only be initiated during normal Turkey business hours and takes around 10 minutes on Wise's end. My transfer took 2 hours to land into my OlduBil account.

Note: Make sure you only transfer the amount you actually need to pay for your subscription (add a few dollars extra in case due to currency fluctuations) because due to regulations, OlduBil does not allow withdrawals unless you originally signed up with a Turkey phone number.

Part 2b - Topping up your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard with Revolut (App only)

Revolut fee: ~A$1.79, OlduBil fee: 6.25% of transfer (~A$4.35 for a ₺1200 TL transfer)

Update: 28/06/23 1:00pm - **Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer.

  1. Download the Revolut app on the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android) if you don't already have it installed.

  2. Open the app and log in or create an account (if you don't have it already).

  3. Top up Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Revolut account (at least $30 AUD for the 14 month plan, $75 for the 36 month plan but no more than $160 because OlduBil allows a maximum deposit of ₺2750,00 TL ≈ A$160 per month). You can add Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Revolut account via a debit/credit card (instant, no fee), Apple Pay (instant, no fee), Google Pay (instant, no fee) or Manual Bank Transfer (usually instant, no fee).

  4. Convert your Australian Dollars (AUD) to Turkish Lira (TRY). This conversion should be instant. To do this, select "Australian Dollar", then "Exchange", then select AUD → TRY and type in the amount you wish to convert and press "Review order" then "Sell AUD for TRY". Revolut charges no fee for currency conversions.

  5. Send your newly converted Turkish Lira to your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard. To do this, go to the buttom tabs of the app and click onto "Transfer", then "+ New" (top right corner), then select "Send International". Scroll down and select "Türkiye" as the destination. Enter the amount of Turkish Lira you wish to transfer (Note: Revolut charges a ₺30.15 TL flat fee for a single transfer, so this fee will be added onto the amount you enter). For the transer method, select "Bank Account" (this is probably default anyway). For the Reference field, you must type in your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard number (without spaces). Click "Continue", then on the "Who to pay" page, tap "+ New" (top right corner). Select the "Business" tab. For the IBAN field, type in the IBAN you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. For the BIC/SWIFT field, type in the BIC code you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. For the "Company name", type in "TURK ELEKTRONIK PARA A.S." and ignore the email field. Press "Add the recipient" then on the following page, enter the VakıfBank address (the one from Part 1 Step 3) and review the transfer and estimated arrival, then send it off to Turkey :))

HELP POINT using VakıfBank: TBC but very similar to Aktifbank (just different bank information) see above screenshots for process

Note: Make sure you only transfer the amount you actually need to pay for your subscription (add a few dollars extra in case due to currency fluctuations) because due to regulations, OlduBil does not allow withdrawals unless you originally signed up with a Turkey phone number.

The "Turkiye" legend/GOAT has done it again.

My wise transfer is saying money will arrive on July 3rd, anyone is experiencing the same thing?

    • you probably skipped this part and used different method during money transfer.

      From part 2a:

"You can add Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Wise account via PayID (instant, no fee), POLi (instant, $1.18 AUD fee) or Manual Bank Transfer (business days only, no fee)"

      • Nah, I'm doing the transfer to the Turkish oldubill account, I already have Turkish currency in my Wise account

        • Apparently I'm on the same step. Sent it anyways.

    • Yeah, same boat here

EDIT: Just tried cancelling and re-sending, new payments are also indicating "Should arrive by Monday, July 3" now, when it was noted as 10 minutes previously.

    • Damn looks like Wise can't handle the pressure :(
BTW these estimates change all the time, keep checking from time to time. Worst case you cancel the transfer

  • Can anyone confirm if this method works for Plex lifetime pass? Is the virtual card accepted?

  • "at least $70 AUD but no more than $160" so I can't just whack in $23-25 aud to grab myself the 14 months?

    • I've changed up the description, please read instructions again :))

  • Too bad I can't change Binge and Stan to Turkiye too.

  • Wise is 'running some checks' after adding $70 via credit card for Qantas points. Says it will clear latest on 30 June..

The suspense is killing me :O

  • +1

This is some next level detail - amazing work @I Smell Pennies.

Currently, anxiously awaiting the transfer to the Odubil account!

    • +1

Thank you. Keep me updated on how long it will take! I might make a transfer from Revolut

      • +1

        Will do mate, thanks.
I used Revolut - transfer says:

        • Today - Verified by Revolut
        • est Today - Leaving for recipient's bank
        • est 27 June - Received by recipients bank.

I'm on the second part so hoping it's sorted by tomorrow, fingers crossed.

        • Fingers crossed indeed. Because Wise is now saying 3rd July

          • @I Smell Pennies: Money went through - took about 12 hours after I submitted it, so pretty quick considering I done it after business hours.

  • Hi Op

I am stuck on last step.

I had transferred 70 aud which ran short for last step of ultimate conversion

Next transfer, wise is asking for id verification, so instead tried paying with international card but opening turkish ultimate link takes me to aud page and once i proceed it comes back with region error. Can you please help me.

    • Hey. Due to currency fluctuations and the fee it seems like $70 isn't enough, so I changed the guide to $75. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Why not do the ID verification? Also, if you're going to do another transfer, maybe top up more in case there's more future deals you'd want to join in on.

opening turkish ultimate link takes me to aud page and once i proceed it comes back with region error.

You don't want it opening the AUD page. You want the TRY plan, not the AUD plan.

      • +1

Yes Op, i have been taking it slow and had been following steps but did not knew the original deposit had changed.

Do not have id on hand and will be tommorrow to grab my id from my home currently away for tonight. Anyways thanks op for quick reply. I will continue the last step tommorrow.

        • You got until 6th July. Also, Wise is taking up till 3rd July apparently.

I'll make a Revolut transfer now and keep everyone updated on how long that takes

  • Received this email from wise:

Sorry, it looks like your transfer of TRY to TRY to TURK ELEKTRONIK PARA A.S will arrive later than expected.

Lots of people are using Wise at the moment, so it’s taking us longer to process transfers. It should now arrive on July 03, at 06:06 UTC.

We’ll let you know the moment your money’s on its way — and sorry again for the wait.

    • You can blame myself, or all those OzBargainers making a transfer right now :P

      I'm going to test Revolut

      • +1

I blame myself for not being fast enough to be among the first ones to transfer 🤣

      • I used Revolut and it still hasn't gone through after 3 hours. The expected completion date has also disappeared and now it says "We need a bit more time to process your transfer - sorry for the wait".

Seems like both wise and revolut have gotten ozbargained.

        • I just initiated a Revolut transfer of 1500 TL at 1:20am. I'll update when it gets transferred into OlduBIl.

Also it's 6pm in Turkey now, they probably stopped transactions as it's after hours.

  • Has anyone tried if this technique works with discord nitro? seems a bit simpler than going the apple id route.

  • Do most people use their existing Microsoft / XBox account or another account? Also, if an existing account still has 1 month worth of GamePass (standard, not Ultimate), would purchasing a TRY based GamePass add to it or it is best not to do that?

    • Had a free month on my normal account so couldn't add it, made another account and option seems to come up now. Not an issue since I've hardly used my first account anyway. My assumption is that most people either don't have an active account or made a new one.

  • +1

Epic post. I don't normally use GP but for this price it's hard to say no. How much did the 3yr ultimate GP cost all up with fees factored in?

I’d say $72 maybe, based on this ridiculous fee OlduBil charges.

But once you get this Turkey virtual card, we can get ANYTHING Turkey related for cheap!

  • +1

    You are absolutely legend

  • What if I already have an existing Turkish Wise Visa card? Can I use that as well?

    • Try and let me know. 99% it’ll pump you an error because I tried it already

  • Did a Revolut transfer last night around 10pm but still hasn't appeared in my Oldubil account yet. Anyone else? Should I just keep waiting?

    • +1

Yes, wait until tonight because they only process transactions during Turkey working hours. 4pm here is 9am in Turkey

    • I did a Wise transfer about 11pm last night but still hasnt come into my OlduBil account now - has yours?

  • +1

This Old uncle Bill sure knows how to give M$ a run for their money!

  • +1

Thank you, OP! Unreal effort in putting this together.

What's the cheapest way to get a Nintendo Switch Online subscription?

    • +4

Thanks for the support. I’ll have a look for you today! Send me a PM to remind me

  • Is anyone able to download OlduBil from the Playstore ? It says the app is not available in my region.

    • Try using a Turkish region account. Same apply to ios

      • Didn't need a turkish iOS account to download OlduBil

  • I don’t even know if I want GPU but for this price I’ll find something on there, lol

    • +2

Probably get the money back in free months of subs to things like Disney+ that pop up occasionally under perks.

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

  • +1

My money still hasn't been recieved on my Olibilu account, it was 5pm turkish time when I did it. Do I keep waiting? Has anyone else had the same issue? Transferred money from wise.

    • +3

A lot of people are still waiting. It's a deal posted on OZB. Also, the organisations involved won't give us VIP treatment for such a small amount of fund transfer. Can't expect 24x7 service.

    • +2

They procees it during Turkey local business hours. I’d assume 4pm or 5pm Turkey time to be cut off.

4pm AEST is 9am over there. So have a lookout around 4pm today onwards

I did a 1500TL transaction via Revolut at 1am today. It’s giving an expected transfer of today so I assume after 4pm

    • Does anyone have a list of subscription services to try with this? Tempted to use it for other services too

      • It should work on anything Turkey related! Any service that processes transactions in Lira. I tested on spotify last night: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/784080

        • Interesting that your Spotify post has overtaken this one. I guess Spotify more widely used.

    • Transferred last night at 830pm WST. It said it would be processed "tomorrow" but it's not there yet.

      • Just got a notification from Revolut that it was sent and will arrive today

        • Arrived!

    • Yeh I'm same boat about same time y/day (11pm/5pm there), still not there now for me…..

  • +1

Thanks for this! Hardest I've ever worked for a deal. All worth it in the end.

  • +1

Im still sitting at step 2A. Money has been deducted from my account but Wise needs to 'run some checks' before crediting my balance. Really annoying.

  • +1

Damn I just renewed for 3 years using the previous deal. Oh well. Great post!

  • +3

ETA from wise of 03/07 for transfer… hopefully they are just giving themselves breathing room!

    • Same….. did it 11pm last night

    • Same here

  • thanks op for the time you took to write up such a thorough guide.

  • +3

I was able to cancel my active subscription using the phone call method that TeddyBear mentioned. When they asked me for a reason I told them my doctor said I need a break from gaming for my mental health. I also made sure they didn't honour the balance of the subscription because I didn't want the temptation. They didn't ask any questions after that!

    • +1

      Modern problems require modern solutions.

    • LOL. I was straight up with them and said I wanted to book in another 3 years at the lower price. I didn't even need to make anything up!

  • Thanks for all your work with various Turkish specials. I've been comparing prices of gift cards vs the fees with OlduBil and they look about even to me - note I'm not talking just about the amazing game pass deal - but Netflix, Office 365 etc. It seems OlduBil will be easier in the long run than topping up with gift cards. What are your thoughts in general on the best way forward with all these services? Will you move all your subscriptions to be paid from OlduBil?

    • Thank you.

Will you move all your subscriptions to be paid from OlduBil?

No. I will keep Spotify (Google Pay method), Netflix, Youtube Premium, Disney Plus etc all deducted from my Australian banks.

I'm only using OlduBil for any future services that reject Australian cards

      • Can you think of any services other than GP where Australian cards are rejected?

I have $150 sitting in Wise that need a purpose.

        • +1

Steam Games, Playstation Plus, Xbox Games, there's heaps more but I'm mentally drained atm. I'll post more as I uncover more

        • Netflix was happily billing my AU card but I had to cancel it and the new one isn't being accepted without local phone number.

  • Gonna do this today, should I go with Revolut? Seems like going with Wise might be cutting it close, but don't know if anyone has tried 2b since

    • +1

      I did Revolut. See here

Wait for my update around 4-6pm

      • Is that update the one you just did? I should do revolut now?

        • Yeah. Now just waiting for it to hit OlduBil

  • +1

This is amazing and props to you for such a detailed write-up and testing. Quick question, has anyone tried this with a GamePass Friends and Family sub? Couldn't see on the Turkish website whether Microsoft offers Family Sharing tier with GamePass Ultimate but if somebody could let me know that would be great!

  • I did a Revolut transaction during Turkish business hours yesterday and it's still sitting as not yet sent.

I think we may have OzBargained both Wise and Revolut.

Inb4 the lira collapses some more.

Edit: 10 mins later, it says it has been sent by Revolut. Now waiting for it to be received.

  • +1

Sweet. Up to the part where I wait for Wise. Did not read updates before doing it otherwise might have done Revolut. Ah well, 3rd July is still before the increase so no big deal really unless something prevents steps 3 onwards from happening between now and then

    • Let me edit the post and make a caution for others hopping on.

  • +1

In the same boat here for July 3rd. Fantastic post and intricate details ISP. I'm trying to think what I can use my TRY VCC for now heh

  • +2

Hey OP! Great writeup! Really made the whole transferring in/out fiascos easy to follow. Question: I have got confirmation from Revolut that money is received from recipient's bank. How long does it usually take to land on OlduBil acct? (will report back once I got it :))

    • +1

      Thank you :))

Question: I have got confirmation from Revolut that money is received from recipient's bank. How long does it usually take to land on OlduBil acct?

It took me 2 hours, some reported more, some reported 10 minutes.

ATM it is 7am in Turkey, so expect a few more hours

      • Just got the money to Oldu. a bit over 3 hrs. :)

  • +1

    Legend!
MATE that is one detailed instructions.
I am now waiting for Wise to do its sorcery. Normally , I use wise to pay for my cars in Japan which takes about 1-2 hours but its saying 3rd July. Looks like someone is walking with all the cash to the bank :D

    • +1

      Thanks for your support :)

Due to the sudden and large number of transfers from you guys, Wise is now giving a transfer date of 3rd July. I can confirm Revolut transfers are much faster within minutes (or hours at the latest).

You have a choice of either cancelling the transfer and go to Revolut or let it send anyway in case you want to buy something else Turkey related.

      • Cool thanks mate. I'll wait. I registered for Revolut but I'll give it a few hours atleast before cancelling wise transfer?
