Full credit to @crocaus for informing Ozbargain of this deal on the forums. Crazy prices for these flagship devices with matching flagship level specifications. It appears that writing any device into the trade in form with your details instantly generates the automatically applied coupon codes which are visible in the cart/checkout. @crocaus tried an iPhone 4 and I tried an old device from years ago and it works. Make sure to send your old device within 7 days of receiving your new Oppo. Has to be fully functional with no network locks, lease, etc. Caution: Oppo may charge you for the full amount of the voucher if the device doesn't meet requirements.

Trade-in device must be

  • fully functional with no network locks,

  • Should I trade-in my Samsung Note10+ (Dual sim, 12G ram, 512GB) with this X5 Pro? I don't know if it is an upgrade.

      I've got the same phone for $325 trade in I certainly would not be trading up for that change over. Note 10+ for life. Look to run Dr Ketan if you want to root it. I've got wallet and all working. Way less bloat.

    This deal looks attractive at first and I even tried to see if a 15 year old model will validate the trade in value. But I checked the price of this model in China and realised it is sold at around 580 AUD now (2800 CNY). As this is already last year model. But of course you would not get warranty if you purchase from China and plus there is just no one selling it at this price here. Anyway I will probably wait for some other deal to replace my iPhone 11.

      It performs similar to the Google Pixel 7 Pro apparently, which was also released last year but still retailing for $1000+ AUD.

      Not sure if comparing Australian phone stock to sales in China is comparing apples with apples.

        Well I simply provided information I gathered and it is up to you to justify your opinion. I would also like to mention that in general brand has a very strong impact on value of old version

        • Yeah agreed, this thing is probably not going to sell/trade-in for much 2nd hand at all. Have to factor that into the sale price realistically.

    • The thing is X6 Pro won't be released in global market (only sell in China), so the X5 Pro is still the latest flagship you can get from Oppo.

    • ¥2800 is for second hand or MTK 9000, not brand new with SD.

    Can someone confirm if they got a phone trade-in coupon, that was separate to the $700 promotional discount applied at checkout? This trade-in deal is a bit of a headache.

    • I put in Nokia3110 and not power on. Then it goes to the product page and coupon applied automatically.

    • You don't need to select from the list you type it in .it then gives you the promo price in the app

    X5 from Oppo is $779 after trade in or $799 outright from JB
    X5 Pro from Oppo is $979 after trade in or $899 outright from JB (sale on X5 Pro atm)

    I don't think it's worth trading in for Oppo credit since you're forced to pay the inflated Oppo store prices compared to JB prices

    • Where did you get these numbers? This deal has Oppo X5 Pro for $649, with any trade (I entered Galaxy S10 and that is the purchase price I got).

          Apologies, I see that the $700 trade in credit applies to any device that you trade in. Before I was seeing the X2 Neo trade in for $420 so was confused

    I have used revolut payment method for one of the orders and then cancel that card. I am willing to send them the old device - ZTE Ultra telstra device but they ask for anything more then it is not my problem and they have to honor it given they never mentioned if that device is not acceptable. It is such a strange trade-in and I feel that they are actually selling these devices for this price without caring for trade-in. Lets see what happens though. I wont open my device until few weeks to check how their CC responds to it.
    One of my payment was through Paypal, so curious how someone is going to handle auto payments? Is there a way I can blacklist this provider from my Paypal so Paypal doesn't honor any future charge?

    Also I surely believe this wont hold any credit collection in future as T&C are so vague. Any thoughts from others?

    My phone arrived today, it is OPTUS version, there is just yes optus app preinstalled but can be uninstalled, after that its unbranded experience
    updates coming in one by one, got 12 something first and now 13.0 and now next one is installing.
    after parcels arrived (one for me and one for my wife) i contacted oppo live chat so i can save the conversation and they confirmed that as long as the device is turning on, not stolen you get full $750
    I drilled the issue over few minutes to make sure there is no stones unturned, all saved as pdfs, including whole store page and terms and conditions
    then to double check I called their 1800 number later on this arvo, recorded guys name, date/time and he also confirmed that even old phone gets full voucher.
    If there is any additional charges to my CC i'm going straight to the bank for chargeback and provide them all the docs saved.

    • The value did not matter for this deal. As long as it was a working device with some conditions like being unlocked and not broken, you would instantly receive the discounted price ($700/$750 off)

    • This deal is separate to the usual trade-in program. You do not need to do any valuation for the device you are looking to trade in.

      Just nominate an eligible device (which seems to be anything as long as it turns on, is unlocked and reset) in the form and off you go. The discount code is automatically applied at the checkout.

      A prepaid shipping label will be provided when they send you the phone.

        Unfortunately we are unable to check the status of this as we are the warranty repairs department.
