  • TV prices fall like crazy. I bought the 75" version for slightly more than this price in Dec'22.
    85" was almost $1000 extra.

    • Meanwhile, prices for good monitors keep going up :(

  • Do not forget to take an additional 10% off using ultimate home gift card from woolies (at least for VIC)

    • Do you know if there is any limit of number of GC’s can be used online for a single transaction?

  • Just purchased 14% cash back so they can deliver from Sony. I have to go to bed and ran out of puff looking at it.

  • Guys I’m after a tv and this deal seems very appealing. I have been after 4K QLED or mini LED TV mostly to watch movies and play PS5. I was going to get the Samsung NEO QLED 65' but now with this 85’ it’s making me very confused.

How does this compared with Samsung 65inch Neo QLED or the LG 65’ OLED?

    • +1

Samsung 65inch Neo QLED or the LG 65’ OLED?

Which Neo QLED? OLED should be the best in term of picture but very expensive for that size.

Sony is full array, also good for gaming. OLED > Neo QLED (mini LED) > Full array.

And Samsung TVs doesn't have Dolby Vision.

      • I was looking at Samsung this one https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-65-qn85c-neo-qled…

Then came the deal LG OLED with all the comments from OZbargainners I’m confused

        https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lg-65-cs-self-lit-oled-ai…

And finally this 85inch big beast
        https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/sony-85-x90k-bravia-xr-fu…

Which one should I go for? The TV will be placed near the window south facing side.
JBhifi doesn’t have all the above in one store in Sydney for me to go and check it out. It’s very confusing now.

        • +1

OLED is the best in term of contrast but not as bright as LED TV and this CS model is the cheaper line of LG OLED, so facing windows may be also a problem daytime.

QN85C Neo is mini LED, contrast not as good as OLED but mini LED still very good I reckon, the old QN85B is IPS panel which is not too good as the QN90 or QN95 but I am not sure about the new QN85C.

Sony is full array not mini LED or OLED, so contrast ratio not as good as them but X90K still not bad and support HDMI 2.1 for gaming and Sony support Dolby Vision.

So very depends on whether you want large screen or smaller good OLED screen.

I myself I prefer large screen over the same price as OLED or mini LED.

If you don't mind to pay $5000, this is a good deal.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/783435

          • @superforever: Thank you so much. I actually prefer a large screen tv over something OLED or mini LED something I can’t tell the difference.

What do you think getting the Samsung mini LED or cheaper OLED LG or bigger Sony screen? With the Sony TV can I download apps like Plex etc?

            • @justanick:

I actually prefer a large screen tv over something OLED or mini LED

If you prefer a large screen get the Sony, I have Samsung The Frame 2022 75", size so much better than my old 60"

With the Sony TV can I download apps like Plex etc?

Sony use Google TV, the same as the Google Chromecast TV dongle.

  • hmmm this or the CS OLED 65". Big size difference but going to be in main living are with floor to ceiling windows and outside sliding door.

Is it common for people to pay for the extra 3 year warranty @ $299.50?

    • Same situation. Which one are you going for? 85inch with Dolby looks very nice

      • i think i might go with the 85"
i have an oled for the theatre already. now i have like 5 tvs in the house lol

    • No

    • You might need to set it to high brightness which causes burn in for OLED.

    • 85 inch for sure…

    • The 85” is far more impressive than even the best 65”.

  • Anyone having problems with the site lagging and returning to prior page? Finally got all the details in and card no. Etc etc clicked pay now and now it's been loading for the past 10 minutes. Man my luck with these types of things is shocking

  • I paid $3k HN 2 days ago and it’s already delivered out of box.
Will HN give price difference credit or anything I can do. $500 is huge difference

    • Did you pay with a credit card with price protection? People often forget this perk exists.

    • Harvey Norman is a bit useless in my experience in terms of price matching, I've done a couple of times where they always couldn't do it because the price is already below the purchase cost.

  • +1

None availible in Adelaide or for delivery 🤔

    • Try Sony

  • Good deal..

  • What's the better option this or the 86 both are the same price

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lg-86-ur8050-4k-uhd-led-s…

    • +1

Sony, full array with Dolby Vision, Google TV

      • Cheers.

  • +2

For those interested i bought the 85 last week for 2960, jbhifi just refunded me the difference!

    • Quality of tv?

      • Really good. Room wouldn't have been good with an oled goven the amount of light. No noticable bloom, better reflective coating would have been good though. But otherwise great colours and really a really bright panel. Also loving google OS vs samsung. Super happy.

    • Ouch, I bought on June 1st.

  • I went in to buy Samsung crystal hd model. While they were picking it up from the stock the salesman told me have a look at this one. This is one of the best TVs in the market. Bought it 1 month back and fully happy with the purchase. Won't regret it. Mine is 65 inch though wish I would have bought the 75 inch model.

  • Will harvey norman price match with perks price?

    • No harm in asking

    • Update: harvey norman price matched but delivery fee was $90. Some stock available in SEQ.

  • Guys urgent help. I’m in the store now. Should I get this Sony 85inch or the Samsung 65" QN85C Neo QLED Mini LED 4K Smart TV [2023]

They are almost the same price. The store doesn’t have the Sony 85’ so can’t see how it looks like.

    • Are you able to use the perks code in store?

    • Is that a serious question? Bigger is better

    • Go big or go home

      With a big TV.

    • Of course big unless you don't mind pay more for the QN85C big.

  • Yes I thought you can use the perks in store?

  • +1

Guys I bought 75" X90K in Feb for $1750 and since then was having issue with the contrast. It shows cloudy effect in dark areas or if subtitles are turned ON, you'll see clodu effect behind the fonts. Soke to Sony AU, send them few clips and pics and below is their response..

"Upon further checking on the photo that you have provided, it shows that the TV is working within normal specifications.

The LCD screen is made with high-precision technology to achieve a high level of performance and picture quality.

To achieve this level of performance, the backlight setting of the TV is set to maximize the screen brightness. However, uneven brightness may be observed when the TV is viewed in a dark environment without a video input source, or with a blank screen. This condition is normal and not a malfunction of the TV.

For more information about this, you may visit this link: The screen appears to have a cloudy, white shadow or bright spots when there is no input or when viewing very dark scenes. | Sony AU"

So if anyone wants to watch movie etc in dark room then probably dont buy this as you've to set all settings to standard.

    Thought of sharing with y'al..

    • Youre referring to blooming and these tvs are known for it. The severity of which varies from tv to tv. I've run some tests and mine is fine

    • I heard people said the same and bought the X85K instead.

Can confirm Sony will price match this price
+ 12% Cashback via cash rewards

    • Have you received tracking confirmation from Cashrewards?

      • Yes It tracked alright :)

        • How long did you have to wait before conformation? It been over 14h & still nothing for me. Thx

          • @RED27APPLE: It was tracked after 5 minutes more or less; contact cashrewards and see if they can manually add your transaction

    • +1

Thanks for the heads up, missed the 12% but got the 10 and they pricematched

  • So I went to the store and bought this one instead of the Bravia. After looking at Samsung 75 Q70C vs the Bravia X90K the clear winner was definitely Samsung. Pricing was $2545.

    Samsung 85" Q70C QLED 4K Smart TV [2023]

    • Just confirming did you do a side by side comparison with the 85” Samsung and the Sony?

      • Good guys had that almost side by side. Samsung Q70C is so much better. Jbhifi site says coming soon.
Just to confirm saw the TVs side by side in GG then drove to the nearest JBHifi and ordered the Samsung.

        • But you checked them side by side with Full HD Channel 7 on a 4k TV, you should compare them with 4k demo video.

    • +1

Did it play the same video? Sometimes what you see is better depends on the video they are playing. For example, the OLED TVs is usually playing a dark scene to showcase the true black of OLED, while the low entry TVs is usually playing a bright and contrasty scene.

      • No they played different videos until I asked them to play a tv station like channel 7.

But isn’t Samsung Q70C QLED much better than the Bravia fully array?

        • +1

Don't count on me on this, but AFAIK

Samsung class start from Crystal UHD < QLED < NeoQLED < OLED

Q70 is under QLED and its the second entry level for QLED(Lowest is Q60)

Where as Sony class start from LED < Full Array LED < Mini LED < OLED

X90K is under Full array LED and its the top end of the class

So in terms of tech within the class Sony X90K is better, but you are paying the same price because Q70C is 2023 model whereas X90K is 2022 model
