I bought two and don't have use for it atm, cheaper than the indoor ones too, if you are running it behind something doesn't matter just will be waterproof too.

From what I saw I don't think you can. Only connecting them to the same higher powered power adapter.

Yes, although the outdoor lightstrip doesn't come with any of the T-pieces. You'll need to buy something like the extension kit, or one of the different outdoor lights that are expected to be daisy chained, to get the T-joiners.

It's actually not a bad price for that, it's normally around $100 or more (Bunnings $140). They've most likely also matched Officeworks for this.
Is this Bluetooth only or does it have the standard hue connectivity as well (ZigBee right?).
Can’t cut or expand the strip. Can control using Bluetooth and compatible with the hue bridge. Pretty good price doubt it will get cheaper on prime day.

I guess the Hue ecosystem is what appeals to most.
I've been using a combination of downlights, e27, gu10 and light strips around the house for the past 3 years and I really like the Hue app.
I agree, they're pricey for what they are but for me it's a "buy once, cry once" scenario. Out of all the Hue products I own, the downlights are my favourite.
@Jklaro: White ambience are the go. They're cheaper than RGB too which is good. My e27 globes and light strips are RGB, and 99% of the time I have them on some shade of white. The RGB novelty wears off pretty quickly imo.
Cooler white during the day and warm white at night (dimmed nice and low).
@Jklaro: For a 3m x 4m bedroom you'll ideally need 2.
All the dimming is controlled through the app so there's no need to run cable for dimmer switches.
There are neat routines too, which include "mimic presence" which is great for when you go way on holiday.

These are part of the low voltage, outdoor, waterproof range. They do not include a power supply or any real length of cable. They do not daisy chain, but you can split the power supply with a T pictured here.

I've read elsewhere it's 40w. Probably irrelevant unless you plan to plug other outdoor devices in.

I have quite a few of them (single colour only, 5v RGB, 12-24v RGBW) and they are great.
Pair them with some 12V power supply (I had 2 around the house so I bought 2 others) and a waterproof led strip and you have a much cheaper and much longer too solution. Some of the strips come already wires so it is just a matter of connecting the 2 together.
The 1 thing that I have an issue with is that the RGBW strip and controllers have B and G reversed, easily fixed with an intermediate cable but I thought I would mention it.

why do you need to avoid wifi tuya? I have a wifi dimmer and pet feeder and it hasn't missed a beat. You can also do local tuya through HA
@xtommyk: I use newer TuyaLocal (diff. from LocalTuya) seems easier to use. Need to kink out some bugs.
I do not have anything Tuya (hub or anything like that) or the Tuya integration in HA. They just work.
So this makes it Zigbee but you also need it plus a 12v power supply?
You need a controller, a led strip and a 12v power supply. See if you have an old laptop with a power supply like that.

For DC5V USB LED Controller I got this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005298384609.html - they work but no individual addressing of leds on them. Do not take a strip that is too long as you will have issues finding a power supply that can handle it (plus you would have to supply it every X meters). This has an issue because 2 of the channels are switched between the strip and the controller, meaning blue is green and the other way around. I put some cables between them to get the correct channels.

One big advantage of the Hue strip is that it bends horizontally - that is, you can snake it along the ground around objects. The AliExpress strips can only bend vertically - that is, in a loop - so will have to be mounted in a straight line.
The Hue strips also have a diffuser already built in.
