For $1k, you could buy a used SFF PC, GPU, and have change for a decent used non-gaming laptop.

Well if you want to do gaming then more VRAM the better and RTX 3060 is 2GB VRAM more than that one you linked

I want to buy MSI Katana GF66 12UC-692AU 15.6" Core i5 Notebook Win 11, rtx 3050 from Computer Alliance . The price is around $920. What do you guys think, is it a good deal or there are better laptops in this budget?
Seems reasonable given 3050 is not that strong. Depends on what do you use the laptop for?

At that price point you're probably better off going used… there are 2070MQ laptops from better brands (eg Razer) in that range.
