On Amazon you pay nothing upfront (till it dispatches) but lock-in lowest price guarantee. So if it fluctuates and goes lower for a day randomly, you always get the lowest price on release.
On most other stores, nothing. They just take your money months and months in advance. Only exception is for very limited products such as Collector's Editions which may sell out quite quickly. But for standard version items, no real benefit.
This isn't Amazon though.
Hence my question to why this is a deal.
I dont see any benefit putting full payment down for a standard game 9 months in advance when i can just keep that money in my bank account or invest it into something with returns.
In addition Square Enix is going to milk this game with many copies being available.

I find this price for pre order is quiet cheap considering it will release in 2 discs.

Dont get me wrong, FF7 is my all time fav of the series.This game is not the full story game. Don't be duped because its on "2 discs"".

The $85 mark is pretty regular for pre-order pricing and Amazon will match it in due course without taking your money upfront for 10 entire MONTHS.
They might even take it down to $79 delivered like FF16. There's no reason to lock yourself in here.
