  • Are these good for cameras?

    • +2

Full-size SD cards are preferred over microSD cards for cameras due to their higher read and write speeds, which are crucial for capturing high-resolution images and shooting videos. These faster speeds enable quicker data transfer, shorter save times, and support continuous shooting at high frame rates.

      • Thanks. So mainly for smartphones and dashcams?

        • yeah, you can still use these in cameras but read & write speeds will be much lower.

          • @impoze: Great. I'll buy a few then

      • +5

I don't agree with this unless you are a really serious or prolific DSLR user. The speed of these particular cards is very high.

        • @impoze is right if you prefer to shoot in RAW. Think the contact resistance of the jacket can slow a microSD.

          • +1

@megadeth: I would be very surprised. I almost always shoot RAW when using a DSLR.

          • @megadeth: What matters is the specs/speed rating of the card not microSD vs SD. A V30 SD won't outperform a V90 microSD nor will it magically run faster than a V30 microSD.

        • you'll want to get the larger capacities then with the higher ratings

    • +7

They are perfectly fine. Been using them for years as a cheap option in a Sony RX100 IV/VA/VII, Sony A7C, Sony A7 III/IV, A1 with no issues. These cards are V30 rated and are no slower than any full size SD cards in their price range. Got CF-A cards when I actually need them before anyone jumps me lol.

If you need V90 speeds for specific video codecs are faster bursts you would be prepared to pay 10x the cost of these cards anyway.

      • Thanks

You're using micro SD in an A1?

        Are you having a laugh?

        • +5

Gladly and absolutely no issues with using them in more casual situations where I never breach the 120+ continuous shooting buffer (e.g. family events, travel, landscapes). That's more than 6 seconds of holding down the shutter at 20 FPS lol. I have 4x1TB CFExpress Type A cards when the situation actually requires it.

        • +1

I use MicroSD cards in an A7R IV, which has even larger file sizes than the A1.

      • I have an older DSLR 600D Canon - I've used adapters in the past for MicroSD cards, but have also read they're 'less reliable' as you're adding another point of failure (more likely in the adapter than the card) - have you had any issues with using adapters vs full-size SD?

        • +4

          Nope

          • @eecan: What adapter are you using for MicroSD cards?

            • +1

@Peteroz: Just the generic Samsung/Sandisk ones that are included with the microSD cards.

        • +1

I have had sd's have the locking mechanism fail, and I never trust it again. If it happens on a Micro SD I just swap in a new adapter and all good.

Almost all of my cards are Micro SD in adapters for the versatility.

  • Are these good for dashcams?

    .

    • +4

      been answered many times.
dashcams = high endurance cards designed constant overwriting

      • +1

And high temperature ratings. Basically, you want industrial rated

    Thanks OP. got one

Thanks, had a $10 voucher I managed to get somehow. Hopefully don't cancel like ebgames did. I don't know if you get your voucher back unless this is the very voucher I tried to use in that transaction.

    • +1

That $10 voucher would be from the spend $90 get $10 promo the other week

      • Could have been. I thought all of those offers were a bit confusing to be honest and couldn't work out exactly how they worked. I didn't set out to get any of them.

    • +2

Maybe a $10 voucher from the recent Spend $90 get a $10 voucher?

  • +3

Got one, didn't need it. True ozbargainer signing in

    Thanks OP!

  • What’s the standard discounted price of these ? Thinking if I should hold off buying in bulk if a Westpac special comes up with cash back

    • $10 for 64GB, $22 for 128GB, $36 for 256GB (though Amazon were selling them for about $31).

  • Are these good for dash cam or survillient cam?

  • It's funny and annoying that the price drop of the 64GB has made it ineligible for eBay Plus free shipping.

  • Really good price. I bought the 256GB for $26 and thought it was a good deal back then

  • Wondering how to get $5 discount, still shows $26 for 256gb

    • Once your total reaches above $50, your unique $5 voucher is applied. So that’s the condition.
Not sure how $5 off from the 128gb is achieved.
I would want that option too.
Instead I need to buy 2 x 256gb cards in order to use my $5 voucher from eBay.
I tried that PLUS5 code and it doesn’t work.

      • There are 2 $5 monthly codes, the $50 minimum spend one you mentioned and another $15 minimum spend one that works on most items. Unfortunately eBay is dodgy with both (especially the $15 one) and not all users get them consistently, the codes are unique and appear in your My eBay Summary and any messages you get about them.

  • Ebay actually giving you the $5 voucher each month….hahahahahaha…i havent got mine in 3 months. Called up, they agreed, will reinstate..never did.

    Called back..same same…same result

    Honestly..shonky beyond belief!

    Great deal though..stuff Ebay.

Buy it elsewhere, do a chargeback and get your full ebay plus refunded.

  • Cheap as! I got the 2 512gbs for $55ea deal last year and thought it was cheap.

  • Are these great for drones? using mini 3 pro

  • I went to the deal & the 512GB microSD was not on offer, the other 3 were; maybe they ran out of them

  • +2

    512gb back in stock

  • 512GB not there anymore :(
