  • Now I just need one of their amps to go on sale so I can look at swapping my active PC setup for a passive one.

  • Very tempted, but man do my focal clears run well off everything.

    • What are you currently running them off?

    • Just got a set and am curious what you use them on too.

  • +1

As someone who's area of expertise is not this, would this be what I require to output digital audio from my computer's USB port to my Edifier S350DB?

    • Check out the buyer reviews in the link posted.

    • You can but something elso for <$30 will do, if you don't have digital output straight from pc. Get usb to optical out or usb to coax out adapter. Cheapest one will do as there's no loss of audio quality going digital to digital.

    • No. Most DACs like this don't have digital outputs. The Topping D10 models happen to (D10S = $159 at A2A), but it doesn't have a volume knob or headphone amp, in case you were also looking for those features. But if you just want a USB to spdif(optical)/coax, there are tons of $20-$40 options on Amazon and the like, just search "usb to spdif" or "usb to optical". Depending upon your setup you could also consider a HDMI audio extractor.

If you do want a headphone amp though, you could use the RCA outputs on this DX3 to connect to your speakers. Having an extra step of analogue in the chain isn't ideal, but at least the DX3 is known to be good quality. So then the worst thing in the chain is speakers analogue to digital circuit (ADC), which the speakers have internally to then DSP the signal. Hopefully/presumably Edifier have included one that is of satisfactory quality, so this should be a valid method too.

    • Thanks all for the reply, they have been helpful. Will something like this do then?

    Review link is broken.

    • Fixed, oopsies!

  • Now I just need a good branded do-it-all heavily discounted rice cooker and everything will be peachy.

    • +4

I dont think this will power a rice cooker.

      • Of course not but cooking while listening to cool (gear) music is a great recipe.

Pretty good headphone dac/amp to use with a PC, or even something like a Chomecast Audio. Plenty of power and supports pretty much every BT codec.

I don't need this, but kinda want one

  • I have this, and its a fantastic dac/amp. But if you don't need heaps of power the DX1 is even better value.

  • Already bought this but wondering if it'll drive up to 600ohm headphones? Can anyone advise?
