Anko Mechanical Backlit Gaming Keyboard (Blue Switch) $23 (was $39) + Shipping ($0 with OnePass) / In-Store @ Kmart

530

Saw this on clearance at my local Kmart for $23 down from $39. Have used one before, and it was genuinely not bad at all, provided you're ok with the clickity-clack from the blue switches. Had a quick look at stock levels online and there appears to be plenty around (at least in WA) at time of posting. Don't expect it to be up to scratch with your Logitech, Corsair or DAS keyboard and you'll be right!

Quick edit, because it doesn't seem to be written anywhere: You can not change the colors of the keys. You can only either turn the lights off, make them flash in different patterns or keep them static.

copy pasted description from Kmart website:

Engineered with full anti-ghosting keys, this mechanical backlit gaming keyboard will provide you with high accuracy and speed while playing games.

Need a good reason to be asked to move back to WFH….

  • I have this keyboard, it's loud as f, especiallyat night. But it's also comfortable and good built.

    • +5

How loud is it during daytime?

      • +8

32db during daytime use and 39db in night mode

        • +1

makes sense, colder air is denser and so sound must transfer more sound energy to propagate

          • +3

@FrugalFindsDownUnder: I think the user is more drunk at night, he slams the keys in more assertive manner.

  • seems to be stuck on rainbow colour, I was hoping for solid colours. everything else seems fine

    Blue switch is very loud.

Can be made quieter and thockier with a little tape and foam mod. Did that to mine and can't believe I'm back to using blue switches.

      • How would you do that on these non hotswap type boards?

        • put the foam between the pcb and case

        • +2

Only thing you can't do (without soldering) with non-hotswappable keebs is pulling out the switches. Pull the caps, open the case, tape the back of the PCB board with masking/wire tapes, the more layers the quieter and thockier. Foams are optional, so are lubing the switches and stabilizers.
Most people would advise against lubing blue switches, especially non-hotswappable ones, but I say go for it since it's just a Kmart keeb. Don't worry about unsoldering the switches, just get some Superlube Precision Oil and drip in 2 drops from the top.

I love the sound of the blue switch cause it sounds like a type writer when I type. Each to their own

      • it's so crunchy..

  • Amazon has a heap of cheap mech keyboards for similar price and are much better

    • -2

Why don't you post some here then.

      • Just type "mechanical keyboard" on amazon and look at the reviews. Im not going to do what you should, im just advising to check else where. Also it all depends on what size and switch type you want…

        • I did and there was nothing in this price range.

  • Have used one, nothing wrong, except cord died.

    • that's something wrong 🤣

    • +2

      That's like a major problem…

  • loud keyboards really annoy me
Im happy to spend a bit more - are there any alternatives?

  • +1

    3… 2… 1…. and landfill

    • +1

It's $23AUD for whole cherry mx clone keyboard, buying the replacement keys can cost more. It can get someone out of pinch as backup or replace your parents old 2005 membrane keyboard as I did.

  • GOOD FOR RAGE QUITIN

  • What’s generally regarded as the best mechanical keyboard currently?

    • Depends on your budget/needs? Bit like asking, 'What's the best car'

  • Ok keyboard, however you may need to:
Become accustomed to some of the printing on the keys
Figure out what are the small blurry keys in the instruction manual. ie how to adjust backlight brightness.. etc
Figure out how to stop the backlight keyboard reflecting on your screen.
