NordVPN Special Terms

Cashback is eligible for new NordVPN customers only.

Cashback is eligible only on NordVPN plans, and not on any up-sold products such as NordPass & NordLocker.

Cashback may be ineligible if using codes not listed on Cashrewards, and ineligible on any payments made with Crypto currency.

Cashback is calculated and paid on the advertised cost of the plan only. It will not include any GST, taxes, credit card or PayPal surcharges.

The amount that tracks to your Cashrewards account may differ to the paid amount due to international exchange rates. Your initial payment is converted to USD, then converted back to AUD when reported to us. The advertised cashback rate is based on the reported amount, not the paid amount. Cashrewards has no control over this process.

  • Which plan is better value for money?

    • I did a quick compare with the Nord Std plan.vs S/S for 2 years;

They are both $88.83 before tax, but Nord gives a bonus 3 months.

Nord seems a no brainer. Recent comments also suggest it's the better of the two overall.

      • Surfshark is AUD 88.83 where as Nord is in USD. I purchased it this morning. It charged my PayPal 59.76 USD.

        • +2

          Oops! Oh well, already had a preference for Nord and;

With the high Cashback rate, I'm only $8AUD out of pocket for 2.25 years of vpn

  • Does iPlayer work okay with Nord VPN?

What is the cost after cash back? I have so many subscriptions!

    • +1

BBC iPlayer works for me with Nord, never worked with Surfshark.

    • +1

iPlayer also works for me (side loaded on Shield) with NordVPN.

  • How does Nord speed vs surfshark? Also netflick blocked?

    • I can’t compare the vpn’s but speeds for Surfshark are really good for me. I have used Surfshark for almost 2 years. It also works for Netflix if needed.

  • Does the cashback include the additional 12 months option for surfshark new members?

  • Is nord okay for Torrents or stick to Mullvad

    • I find it crashed A LOT (for torrenting), but that may have been due to hardware issues on the PC I was using. When it crashed, the 'kill switch' obviously crashed with it…

And even then, Nord dropped its connection quite regularly on my main PC which is quite high end. I've just started with Surfshark in the past month or so and haven't had a drop. It connects basically instantly.

Admittedly, I haven't tried Surfshark for torrenting yet.

    • Been with Nord for years and torrenting almost every day, only issues (apart from occasional software development) were on my (hardware) side.

Any way I can take advantage of this as an existing customer? New cash rewards account?

    • +1

The "new customer" thing generally means new nordvpn customer, not cashrewards.

  • +1

Is it easy to cancel the contract with NordVPN? Currently I'm on Surfshark and my contract expires next month and don't want to re-sign with them again since it's a pain to cancel afterwards.

    • +1

This is exactly why I stopped my surfshark account.

They make it hard for you to cancel your sub.

      • @JPerez
Ditto. Might give NordVPN a try this time around and also looking for a Usenet provider. Any one in the know for a good deal going 'round at the moment?

      • What do you mean by them making it hard for you to cancel? My surf shark is expiring in a few months.

    • Yes, ordered the wrong thing before and they cancelled quickly.

Just contacted them via live chat

    • +1

Yes, One can turn off "Auto Renew"

  • Does surfshark have India server?

  • Why did the chicken cross the road?

  • I am looking at nordpass on Cashrewards

    https://www.cashrewards.com.au/nordpass

and it says "Cashback is only paid on the first month of your subscription."
    ,
    "
    Cashback categories
    Personal Use - 1 Month Subscription 56%
Personal Use - 2 Years and 1 Year Plan 31%
    Business Subscriptions 17.5%

    "

So does that mean if I buy (2 years and 1 year plan) then I get only 31% of the first month ??

    • -2

      That's NordPass not NordVPN

      • -1

Yeah and I am asking about nord pass to pair it with Nord VPN subscription

        • I think what its meant is 31% of whatever of you paid will be given to you on the first month by cash rewards company

  • +2

Why can't utility providers give customers 96-97% cashback?

  • Is anyone having issues with NordVPN? In the checkout for the Standard plan it says $97.71, however when I click to pay with Paypal it says it's $141.98.

    • Price is US$ if I am not mistaken, so AU$141.98 sounds about right. You can avoid 10% tax by selecting USA as address.

      • that makes sense, just so happens to be exactly $97.71 AUD for surfshark. Throws me off.

      • Do you know if selecting USA as an address will invalidate the cashback? I.e. Cashrewards tracked the purchase but then rejecting after the 3 month pending approval period.

        • It's fine. CR are only interested in the sale and not what country you note.

    • I just had a go and NordVPN was listed as $88.83. It says $3.29 monthly cost on a 2 year plan (27 months incl 3 "free"), and that works out to $88.83 which I assume is US$. But when I got to the next screen it was $3.99 per month or $107.73 total (plus tax if you leave it as Australia).

Choosing US with California as the state there is no tax. It asks for a zip code so have one ready. But still $107. I did not click further to see if it came up with a $A amount.

      • Are you sure that you didn't include any extras?

        • Just tried again.

On the landing page from CR for me it now shows as $107.73, calculated on 27 months x $3.99. I will probably still go ahead but would like to see if others see the same.

          • @Dabbler68: Yes, there was a deal on last night with a timer. It had approx 9.5 hours left at 8.30 last night.

Was $3.29 on that deal. Now $3.99 (monthly rate on 2 years)

  • cashback wasnt traced automatically for me , anyone else?

    • It worked last night within an hour, for me.

Purchased via CR app at 8.40pm and tracking came through at 9.30pm.

Although, I should say, I had a ridiculous amount of trouble with the payment gateway. Took a lot of effort to make the purchase. Kept getting stuck / not redirecting to PayPal.

    • You should cancel and go through the CR app. Be sure to follow TA tips in the post.

  • So If I sign up for the 2 year standard at $107 I'll get 97% back?

    • +1

That’s what it says, so yes!

      • cool

  • +1

I paid US$107.73 for NordVPN a little before midnight. That was debited to my ING account as $A156.53. This morning about 6:00am I received the tracking notification. It shows US$105.54 which gives cash back of $A145.81. Explanation for the difference is in the deal description.

So the net cost worked out to just under $11. Estimated approval for cashback is 95 days.

A pretty good deal for 27 months.
