13/6 Update: Shipping in 7 to 13 days and price dropped from $9.66 to $9.49.

Great bargain on Japanese made tweezers for general use. Free shipping if you have Prime. I wonder what happenned with those Amazon JP deals? They must have just recently let us AU users use their international shipping?

I was looking out for Knipex tweezers which hold around $35-40 mark each and occasionally drop below $30. No great deals during around 6-12 months monitoring.

I also checked other popular and high-tech brands and Chinese brands offerrings on Aliexpress. Aliexpress may have some nice cosmetic tweezers and maybe even some medical ones but no great industrial ones, the ones that I found appeared to be poorly made. Brands like Lindstrom or Ideal-tek seems way too pricey. Although this Lindstrom seems like a fair value:

Anyway, long story short I found these tweezers by a Japanese Engineer brand. They seem fantastic value especially when reduced. Reviews seem good too. Some alternaitives currently also on special below (although not such a good discount):

https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B002F9MQLK/?coliid=I3GAGV9LVGS8…
$14.79 36% off. 125mm, Pointed Ends.

$13.61 39% off. Curved Ends, BS Type, 165mm Long.

$27.94, only 19% off but these are Titanium! Rather sexy looking to us nerds, good value for Ti.

  • Are these for eye brows

    • +4

You may use it for eyebrows. Although pointy bits are not ideal for that, make sure you don't stab yourself in the eye. But to answer your question - no, these are industrial tweezers and have been designed for eletronics and general DIY use.

No, it’s for butthole and electronics.

      • Its only for those 2 acts if you are @jv

Great for smd work. I might have to get one or two.

Thanks, my Prime membership lapsed last year but now with Amazon JP and DE in for free shipping, I might have to resubscribe.

      Suck your what???

      • +1

        🤣

I’ve actually never thought of that. You’ve changed my life!

      • Hey, not all of us can have dicks larger than an 0604 capacitor

  • Shows up as 27 now

    • Oh wow, that was fast! Others seem to be still available.

      • I think it's still there. Just Amazon JP doing it's usual thing..

Edit: Does seem to be gone now though. I managed to bring up the price just before I posted but can't now. Someone must have bought it right around the time I got it to show up.

    • Go to other sellers and pick Amazon Japan

      • Bugger I shouldn’t have said anything, now gone!
        Oh well

    • Don't feel bad because Engineer are a little worse than the better Taiwanese manufacturers, especially their precision tools.

      • Which Taiwanese? Could you name brands?

        • AuzGrip, Force, GearWrench (have to check as some of their stuff is made in China), Selta, jimy, most KingRoy stuff, SP Tools, SidChrome, etc.

          • @umexcuseme: AuzGrip - could not find any tweezers made by them.
            Force - " "
            GearWrench - " "

            Paused there for now…

Could you name any Taiwanese brands that actually make tweezers better than Engineer to save a bit of my time?

            • @Musiclover: Sorry I haven't looked at tweezers specifically but first place I normally look is the Mighty8 store on ebay (https://www.ebay.com.au/str/mighty8tools). Their stuff is ridiculously good value. Another good way is to search the item on ebay but add "taiwan" and check the "search description" option. Be careful though, there are Chinese made items on there falsely advertising being made in Taiwan. You can usually tell though, not only do they look cheap but Taiwan made stuff usually proudly state a bunch of specs and certifications.

              • @umexcuseme: Thanks, just thought because you said that Engineer is worse than Taiwanese brands you had some specific alternatives in mind.

Thanks again for that store link. They may have some good quality stuff but just a quick search shows this item for example https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/191888353223?hash=item2cad6fe7c7… it is a very overpriced generic Alibaba bit. Way way cheaper at Aliexpress.

                • @Musiclover: Yeah for unbranded Chinese stuff you're just paying more for the quick shipping + service if you buy from there. It's the other stuff I mentioned where the value for money is.

I feel personally attacked by this deal.

Is everyone here rich or something? It's $10 for tweezers

    • It's a nerd thing you will not understand.

    • I thought it’s got those Tamiya Bandai mr hobby whatever made for model nerds tax on it. But it’s just a tweezers…

  • OK I expired the deal, but note others seem to be still available. I bought myself straight and curved ones… Like a miniset for $20 bucks

  • Order cancelled

    • Weird, hope it's a one off thing. My orders have not been cancelled yet.

    • Yes, I have a link above.

      • sorry, didn't catch it 🥱

  • Do we have one for doctors?

    • Check aliexpress, they seem to have good deals.

  • I guess I should have studied engineering.

  • How is $10 for a tweezer a deal? Am I missing something ?

    • Yes you are missing a $10 set of tweezers.

    • There are tweezers that cost $100+

  • Missed out on the $9 deal, but got the $14 ones. Thanks!

    • I bought both. Yes, $10 are better reduced but they are different shape, $14 is significantly more than $10, but these $14 are still a great bargain, and hey, only $4 extra…
