let me ask a question my dear man,

    ds112+ bare $278.00

    ds212+ bare $388.00

a bare single bay nas for $278?

    a bare dual for $388?

are they made of gold and encrusted with fine jewels?

they seem very expensive for their drive holding capability

    • I just looked it up, the WD reds are quite expensive (double the price of a normal WD)

      • +1

probably better off getting the red drives and installing yourself, much cheaper that way, if you can be bothered/want to save money.

        ds112+ bare $278.00

Synology definitely worth that price especially the + , I suggest you should go wiki and read more first. Have been using as server, NAS, hosting website, surveillance camera for years now.

Tony, so now you dont know how to use Google? "i'm sorry that a simple google search is beyond your capability" that line sound familiar?

  • I keep reading that as "FlingSnot".

    • +1

I keep typing "slingshot" into my browser lol

  • That's a awesome price for the 412+ Bare given your guys' shipping rates (no comment on the other units)! That's more than $50 off of what I paid for mine not 2 months ago. After all said and done, I had mine populated with 4x2TB for $1148 and I paid more for the unit… bare in mind I used WD Greens and I haven't done research on the Reds yet

Synology, in my eyes, is the best prosumer brand out there at the moment!

Actually just today, yet again I find a piece of software I want to run actually has a Synology app already! Brilliant!

  • +1

I'm after the DS212 (non +), you got them coming in? From what I read the + versions aren't really worth the price for the average home user.

    • ds212 or ds212j ?

  • I thought you were offering the ds412+ bare for $638.00 yesterday? :(

    • Sorry as I said we went back to the distributor for an updated price list and a lot of the prices had moved up or down by 20-50…

      • It would be nice to honour $638 since it's already mentioned :)

        • I wish we could but the pricing was updated yesterday. We didn't even have time to put it up on our site otherwise we would have honoured it.

        • We talked them into honouring the price, but only on the next 3 units.

        • Thanks bought 1!!!

  • +1

Shame you didn't have something a little more home network/budget friendly like the Synology DS212J, I would have probably bought one. Was pricing a Synology NAS with 6TB WD Reds only last night.

    • We can get any Synology NAS, the reason why I made this price list is because pretty much every person in the other thread was asking about the plus series. Now everyone is asking about the non plus, lol.

Leave it with me, but the promo ends today, so realistically it will be difficult to get all of the non plus pricing up.

      • Damned if you do damned if you don't. :)

        Thanks!

        • The promo has been extended so we will be adding the rest of the series tomorrow.

        • Excellent.

        • Posted.

  • to sell NAS which priced around $500-1000 you need to run the sale more than a day so people can do some research and make decision.

    • Definitely, but the promo pricing ends today, so rather than having everyone miss out we figured put it up here for people who already have done the research.

  • Do you know if the 1512+ part of new batch (the one without BBoD problem)? In a case of warranty claim do we go back to you or where do we go? I am not sure there's Synology here in Australia

    • Not sure, but it looks like from what I have read that Synology is simply swapping out any units with that issue, we can confirm that for you though.

      • Please do. Does it affect only certain serial numbers? In any case if it happens can you replace the unit directly?

        • Will get back to you on the replacement process.

        • Any idea yet how this gonna work? Will you send prepaid envelope so we can return and swap it directly to you?

        • I hope you're getting back to me today

        • I think i Just scraped in. Sorry for the slow reply it has been another crazy day at Flingshot hq!

I have confirmed that yes we will be able to offer our replacement service for 2/3 years depending on the product.

We either charge for the replacement and send a new one out with prepaid return or by courier depending on size. Then credit you when the faulty one is returned to us. Or you send it back to us to be replaced and we send a new unit and credit you the shipping cost.

        • Hi, is that above replacement process for any Synology NAS ordered from flingshot ?

Secondly, since the DS412+ price has been corrected, I am about toorder one.

Which suburb/city are you based in ? Can I pick up the NAS ?

        • Yes that applies to all synology products.

We are based in Sydney. Email us to organize pickup.

        • email sent to [email protected]

  • I thought the DS1812+ was going to receive a better price?

    • It was not part of this promo so I didn't post it. Once we get this sorted we will get all of the new pricing on the site.

      • Will get it up as well tomorrow.

  • im still yet to be convinced that the WD RED are any better than a seagate barracuda green….

  • are you going to get prices for ds212 and ds212j and for people who want 4 drives ds412 and ds412j?

    • Yes now that the promo has been extended we will get it up tomorrow.

  • +1

If only you also run promotion on WD Reds that would be awesome :)

    • I +1 that.
I will be buying a NAS and want the RED's. If you can do the 2TB for ~$150, I'll grab two !

Makes sense anyway, if you are having a special on NAS's, why not have a special on HDD's ?

Otherwise the buyer will just go to someone else.

      • The drives are included with the NAS it is a promo run by Synology and WD, we don't actually have access to the drives separately. However we are looking into it.

But realistically if we were selling the drives separately for $150 then the pricing on the 4x2tb NAS would make no sense, you are always going to save a little by buying the drives separately and installing them yourself. The absolute cheapest way is to just crack open am external but then you have no warranty..

The cheapest I can find the drives on Static Ice is $152 with $15 shipping though…

        • The absolute cheapest way is to just crack open am external but then you have no warranty..

          Haha, you know the runaround.

Anyway, just ordered the DS412+ (delivered). Paid via paypal. (didn't give me any other choice.)

When should I have it delivered by ?

  • .

  • Are you going to update the post with non+ and J version NAS?

    • Yeah working on it now. Will have them up asap.

      • what are their prices without the HDD? i.e Bare prices?

        • We just have the promo prices up at the moment. There is no stock of the bare NAS for these models right now with our supplier.

  • Thanks for updating this with the items requested, unfortunately the price quoted is $60 - $100 more than I could build the unit for myself, with shipping.

    • Which unit?

  • Your deal for the DS1812+ 12TB (4 x 3Tb WD REDs) is $420.31 (excluding shipping) more expensive than buying the NAS through Megabuy and the HDD's through It Estate…

    Why is this?

    • Megabuy sells that NAS under cost, which would account for some of that, but only about $80. I can't find the 3tb RED WD drives on the it estate site though… I am assuming your math would be:

      $972 for the NAS
$796 for the drives? so $199 ea?

@ $1768 we would lose over $250 after shipping costs and paypal fees.

Again that is just my best guess because I don't have the exact pricing.

The reality is that if you buy components from the cheapest place you can find for everything you will often save 10% or so, our pricing is based off the promo pricing we are getting from our distributor, after paypal fees and shipping there is not much left in any of these deals. Especially if we factor in the cost of shipping for any faulty units we will have to replace.

  • So just to confirm, you will pay shipping both ways in case there is a faulty unit or warranty clam ? for a NAS

    • Yest that is correct, we would send a courier to pickup the unit and drop off a replacement.

      • wow, that is almost unheard of these days.
Hope I never need to test it.

You might be onto something with these prices an this type of service.

        Keep it up

        • You don't HAVE to sacrifice service for price, it is just the norm at the moment. We honestly feel that there is a massive gap in he market for a retailer who can manage to keep prices competitive while also offering great service.

        • We honestly feel that there is a massive gap in he market for a retailer who can manage to keep prices competitive while also offering great service.

          Tell me about it.
But the trick is to maintain it over the months and years.
Keep offering regular specials, and what matters AFTER that is how you deal with any DoA/warranty etc issues.

I am happy to buy online, and don't want anyone salesman's recommendations (ala HN types). I know what I want. But if the after-sales service is good, while keeping prices low, you are a winner.
