Samsung The Premiere Laser 4K Smart Projector LSP7T $2,450 Shipped @ Digital Dave's Audio

170

Hi all,

First post in a while but one that I feel is actually worthy of a call out.

On Sunday, I was hunting for a new projector as I have been focussed on this sort of tech over the years (including in my own stores etc.) and I went to my sister's place and she had a 4K short throw projector with a screen and it looked amazing. The screen is a big part of this and sh mentioned it was a light-rejecting screen that was special for these types of projectors - seems to be ALR or CLR after reading up a bit - I will try it on the wall first and see if I need a screen as most of my viewing will be later at night anyway.

She had purchased this with a screen from Digital Dave a while back on special for around $3k and I see that they now have it listed at $2495 with free delivery.

With a lot of stores at $3199 or above (https://www.google.com/search?q=LSP7T&rlz=1C1ONGR_enAU1020AU…) this was a good deal and I now have one on the way.

Cant wait to set it up and try it out :)

I thought this was a pillow

    • +2

Your dreams tend to be a lot more detailed when using a 4K pillow.

    • +1

I did also and for a moment believed I needed a $2450 pillow as it must be a bargain

  • +3

I have this pillow for 3 years and it still severs me very very well! I keep turning it on during the night and even weekends, sometimes for background only. Cannot be happier with this purchase.

May I ask what screen you use and how much it cost?

      • +2

There are 3 types of screen for ust projector you would consider.

        1. Fresnel screen rejects light comes from 3 directions, which gives you the best brightness
        2. CLR ceiling light rejection screen, which reduce the most of the light from the ceiling. Can watch movie in daylight with all opened windows.
        3. Normal Flat white screen. Very Cheap and the best in the dark.

I am using type 2 because it has wider angle then type 1. To be honest, if you only watch movie in the evening, Type 3 is not only a cheap choose but also the best bright.

        • +3

My type 2 screen cost around 800 delivered , from China of course.

        • I think I have your exact same screen!
Mine is in possibly the worst spot in the house (lots of windows with plenty of direct daylight light getting in the room) and a fresnel would have helped, however, I decided to go with CLR due to image quality samples I've seen from fresnels and because you can pretty much see if from any angle without problems.

There is also the screen n.4. The wall. It only works with perfect light control and with a straight wall painted properly (a rarity in Australian houses).
If dialled up ok though is not at all bad with this projector and you get the advantage of deciding exactly how much gain through different paint colours instead of having to rely on the gain specified by screen manufacturers.

          • @stampella: Wall is a great option which provides us with the most convenient approach to use the UST projector.
Admitted or not, I take a lot of time in adjusting the alignment. Even though a careless touch would break the perfection easily.

        • Thanks for the input. Will keep this in mind when I eventually buy a short throw projector.

There is also a new 4th type of screen called a "T Prism Ambient Light Rejecting Projection Screens". Seem that it comes in bigger sizes [133" & 150"]. https://www.aliexpress.com/i/1005002703173871.html

I wouldn't be too happy if it was severing me.

        Cutting edge technology.

    • Same here , Paid $4,495.00, on 2021-06-27 , with Bonus $1,500 PAY LESS Card on Selected Samsung Premiere Projectors
so effectively $2995,, (most of the stores were selling $5999 at that time)….Since then watching many hours everyday.. Really happy with it..

    • Similar to other posters, have had this for 2.5 years (using the EFTPOS cashback deal) and it's been good. Replaced an older Fengmi (Xiaomi brand), being more vibrant and brighter.

Using a XY Screen PET crystal 120' screen, costing around $1.7k at the time.

    • after 3 months , I have finally got it working with Google assistant voice command to power on/off again after Samsung drop the support

  • Pretty good find OP, I could be wrong, but I have not seen this low before…

Price match with JB. Safe bet

    • Most JB stores won't price match online store only.

I had this projector for two years, and it is an ok projector if you have a dark room with ALR screen. The brightness and contrast isn't great in a brightish room.
Plus one major issue with this projector is bright or stuck pixel where one or many bright pixels show up and the only fix is to replace the optical engine and mine got replaced but 8 months later the same issue appeared again.

  • What sort of audio you can use with this ? Any bluetooth thingy ?

    • You can use anything because it has hdmi arc, and also Bluetooth due to android system.

Bought this projector for about 2 years and very happy with it. I didn't buy the ALR screen but I painted the wall with a neutral grey color. Cost around $50 from Bunnings and 2 coatings. Honestly the difference from $50 paint compare to the $2.5k ALR is totally acceptable for me - you only loose $50 if you are not happy anyway.
I did quite bit of research and comparisons for the color of the paint though. If anyone interested please reply, I can dig out the paint container to find the brand and code.

    • Isn't it better to pain the wall white to get the best picture? Why neutral grey?

      • If you dont use a proper UST screen a lot of light from the projector gets reflected to the ceiling which in turn reflects into the room lighting it up and thereby washing out the image. A grey wall will at least provide a better black level than a white one.

  • Anyone know how this would compare to the Hisense L5F? The L5f comes with 100" screen and also 2700 Lumen. WOnder if anyoen has been able to compare them to each other. Or even compare them to the newer Hisense PL1H which is simlar to this at about 2100 lumens.

  • Is this seller legit though?
The website only gives a mobile number and no address whatsoever. Anyone else (except OP) purchased from them verify?

    • +4

      Hey there,
Our business address is readily available however we prefer not to post it on our website simply due to the fact that our showroom is by appointment only and we try and prevent general public arriving at our showroom with no booking and no one onsite to greet them.

We are located in Campbellfield 3061

      Thanks,
      Digital Daves Audio Visual Installations…

  • My biggest gripe with this projector is janky controls for adjusting focus and keystone, even the slightest movement on the base unit requires adjustment to these and I hate doing it using the Samsung menu.

  • Whats the warranty on this product ?

    • +2

The Manufacturers warranty is 1 year, However Australian Consumer Law has you covered for 3 years which Samsung will honour.

  • Nah, my friend had this one, pretty bad projector, failed within half year.

  • Haven't seen this one but I highly recommend the Hisense PL1H if you're after a 4K laser UST. That one has Dolby Vision as well and 3 year warranty plus the motion handling is exceptional for mine. It's over $2.5k atm but it does go on sale from time to time for around the $2k mark. Also recommend XY UST screens but that's going to be at least another $1.6k on top.

  • I have had this projector for around two years and it is brilliant. I am surprised by the issues/criticism above…never had a problem and the sound coming out of this is really surprising but I have the Samsung HW-Q950A which is also phenomenal. Anyway, for this price….I can't see anything competing but like I said I might just be on the lucky side.

    • You definitely are, there are lots of reports of hot pixels.
I have upgraded to formovie and it was better.

  • If anyone is after decent quality ALR screens at competitive prices highly recommend Nothing Projector.

After doing a bit of research placed an order for the 120" XY Screen PET Crystal for $1549 delivered. Quite a hefty price for a screen I must say but for mine worth it if you don't have a dedicated theatre room.

Nothing Projector also have their own screens. There are 120" screens starting from around $1k.

Their customer service is also top notch and very prompt. Not exactly sure why their deals get negged here but definitely recommend them if you're after a UST screen/projector.

  • How far should one sit from the screen to have the most comfortable viewing experience with this projector?

    • +1

It would depend on the size of screen projected. This one I think can go up to 120" so roughly around 3.5m (100") to 4m (120") should be a good viewing distance.

  • After doing a ton of projector research recently this is the best bang for buck projector deal available at the moment.

    • Check out the Hisense PL1H that can be had for around $2.2k from Videopro and goes on sale from time to time under the $2k mark.

Also the Hisense 120L5FSET which is an older model but is on clearance again at Videopro for around $3k and that comes with a 120" ALR screen as well.
