Not the best price historically but if you use Omo detergent, this is the lowest per litre price in the current times. Combining with this deal (and S&S) will make it sweeter: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/778482

Omo Sensitive variant is available for the same price too.

Pro OzB tip: If you are availing the above CR deal, tick 10% off box after adding your required quantity to the cart instead of setting up S&S from the product page; that way you can have multiple S&S items in the same cart/ order.

Subtle rant: Just two years back from now, the deal price used to be $18 (and S&S $16.20). That's 16.67% jump in the price. #Inflation

    thanks OP, great find

  • so you can select S&S, get the first delivery, then cancel S&S ?

    • +5

Yes it is the only sensible thing to do, because the sub price can go to anything on your next auto order, its not locked in. You can cancel even earlier just make sure it has shipped.

This. I felt guilty cancelling my first S&S like I did a dirty on them to save 10% which would have been 20c or so. I later realised they could increase the price of a product to literally anything they wanted, charge you, then reduce the price back down. My guilt instantly disappeared.

        • To be fair, Amazon doesn't intentionally do it but prices are always cyclical in nature, based on weekly promos, shopping events, etc. Plus, Amazon usually just matches the prices of ColesWorth, BigW, Chemist Warehouse, etc so obviously their prices won't remain constant forever. I wonder why Amazon still has not removed S&S option - it just doesn't make sense for any savvy buyers - they just use it once to gain a discount and then cancel - and I am sure Amazon knows it. Maybe there are some people who set S&S and don't care about the prices in future deliveries, which could be a loyalty factor and steady business for Amazon.

          • @virhlpool: I think ozbargainer savvy buyers are the minority so amazon and dominos are happy to lose a little to the bargain hunters.

          • +2

@virhlpool: I don't cancel my subscriptions unless I see a radical hike in the price. I can't be bothered to reorder every little thing to save 20 cents. Subscriptions are still useful, even if you may not get the best price every time.

            • @bio: I tend to agree, especially for the items where prices don't vary by much. I keep some of those subscriptions ON.

              • @virhlpool: Yeah. Also Amazon really makes it easy to alter or cancel your subscriptions when you want to. They also notify you in advance about upcoming deliveries, so they don't employ any dark patterns for S&S system.

I cancel before it's shipped and have never had an issue.

      Yes, this is the way

    What's the consensus? What's better?
OMO or Cold Power liquid wash?

    • +1

As a consumer, I believe Omo puts itself as a market leader, Omo Ultimate being the most premium product within their brand. I believe Omo's quality is superior to the others but it could be me. I welcome opinions of the others.

Think Choice reviews this regularly and also agrees.

      • What about Biozet Attack, any good?

        • Its the best!!

    • Powder also works the same way in terms of effectiveness (compared to liquid form)?

    • Feels pretty good, no Omo.

I use biozet actually, only because I heard it has enzymes or whatever that neutralise cat pee.

  • Excellent tip @virhlpool. Thanks.

Thanks OP. Awesome post and tip.

Ah man, I was one of the lucky ones to get these bottles for $7/each about 5-6 years ago. It was a pricing error but I grabbed 5 bottles and then went on to OzB to post it but it was too late and they fixed the price before I could post the deal.

I am onto my last bottle now :)

  • 5 bottles over 6 years, WOW, you must not wash your clothes much

    • +1

Do you know that you need very little soap per load? I use 50 of the recommended and never had issues. Have a read of this. This is just one reference but there are many online..

      • Thanks for this! 😊

    • How many litres of washing liquid is a single (?) person supposed to use annually?

20 litres over 6 years is easily a big washing a week.

    • +1

Maybe the washing machine determines the dose?
I can’t believe how much less detergent I use since I got the iDose Bosch. Got the extra money back in less than a year ( large family).

      • Ours is Samsung front loader and we probably use 3-4 times per week on average. Initially misses would use the recommended dose until we tried smaller portions based on many online articles and saw absolutely no difference. We do use Omo as a strain remover as well (dilute with water in a spray bottle) for soiled clothes but really these concentrated detergents are great even with 1-2 tablespoon per load.

  • Is omo the same is persil? Can someone confirm?

    • Looks like it from a quick Google. Ariel is another great brand (P&G), supposedly superior than Omo, but we don't get it here.

  • Thanks, OP! Ordered one.

Price wise how does this compete with the aldi liquid one (I have no idea how much it costs)

  • I think it's OOS again :( although I did just stock up on dilute at home for $5 a litre via Woolies (that's the price after its made up)
