25% off PlayStation Plus 12 Month Subscriptions (Extra $101.21, Deluxe $116.21) @ PlayStation

720

Just noticed 25% off on playstation plus subscriptions on Playstation Plus Tab on PS5 would assume same on PS4

I checked a non subscription account on my playstation and didn't offer discount, Might be only for expiring accounts? (I have 20 days left)

Couldn't find on Playstation website discount

I'm on extra and can extend one year for $101.21

As I have about a month left said I have to upgrade the remaining time left if want to upgrade to deluxe. For $1.** So not sure what happens if go this route I'm gonna stick with Extra

Could be stacked with best gift cards for extra discount.

Might extend to Essential as well, although I cannot see on my options

My PS+ runs out in November. Would we be looking at better prices for "Black Friday"deals do you think?

    • +2

Last black Friday was 25% I'm pretty sure

Was 33% before the extra and deluxe came out if I remember correctly

    • +1

Best prices are usually around June, for PlayStation week or whatever it's called.

  • +3

My subs till 2025 and checked no discount. But the usual annual days of play is next month so expect a discount then

  • No discount coming out for me but I have a couple of years stacked already.

  • +2

This is targeted for expiring account.
Although I wasn’t that lucky when mine expired.

  • I've got an account that expired last month, no discount appearing for me, bugger.

  • -7

i still go on the basic untill they offer all ps1 ps2 ps3 games in the service its not worth upgrading.

    • +1

      Never going to happen

      • they said goldeneye would never come out on the switch but it did. So never say never.

  • +2

    perfect timing.
mine expires in 7 days and this worked

i tried to buy another 1 year to stack, no discount was showing

    thank you!

    • Yeh the discount was removed for me for extra years…

Might be a good discount on black Friday can stack?

  • +15

Purchased Extra for full price last week fml :(

I have deducted 2 demerit point from my OzB license, hope that's enough.

  • +1

Mine expired on Saturday but no offer

  • +1

The Deluxe and Extra are showing "Upgrade and save" with a discount but Essential is still full price. I am subbed on Essential for another ~1300 days though. Could just be an offer for those looking to upgrade into a higher tier.

  • My essential was expiring in 2 weeks and I had autorenew/cancelled my subscription. I received this offer

  • +1

My sub expired 2 weeks ago and I don’t have any offers. Sad.

  • Mine ends in 11 days. No emails regarding price reduction. But Extra has 25 Percent off checking now. Rest is normal price for me.

  • My essential expires in 7 days but no discount for me. I tried using the PS app though.

  • If you're wondering about the value of upgrading and extending, just think of it as paying a fair price for the extraordinary Ratchet and Clank, and getting a year or so more of a bunch of other stuff you may or may not play.

  • +1

Had 33% discount on renewal offer on Essential through PS Store on the web. Current sub was going to expire next month.

  • I have a US PSN account, sub expired in April, no offers on my account either.

    • No offers on my active US account either.

  • Mine expires in 12 days. No discount unfortunately. On auto renew for Extra

  • My extra subscription expires in 2 days but nothing showing up for me.

Is there a reason people are going with this and not creating a Turkey account? I spent about $200 on five years of PSN Premium when the new plans were announced.

    • Tell me more.

      • +1

I don't know what the prices/exchange rates are like at the moment so YMMV

You only need to use the Turkey account to install games, then you can play them on your main account regardless of subscription status. Online works too

        • +3

Its impossible to add a valid payment method. My Turkish subscription expires in one month and I have been trying to add a new credit card (my previous one expired). As part of adding a new card you need to enter a Turkish address, which is the main problem. My CBA credit card and Wise card, even when I change my address in Wise to match the Turkish address, don't work. I have just about given up as I don't have any other ideas.

          • @mitch21: This is the problem I have warned people about previously. If anything goes wrong with that foreign account, you’re out of luck. If you then decide to get PS plus on your own account instead, all those games you previously added to your library on the Turkish account are no longer accessible. Worth the savings? Maybe for some, but definitely not for me. Unless you get that Turkish account working again, you will have to kiss all your monthly ps plus games goodbye.
Not to mention, you can’t gameshare the ps plus with a friend’s console (which essentially cuts the price in half if you split the cost), unless you play using the foreign account and abandon your main.

          • @mitch21: You might want to look for gift cards to add money in the wallet then… which is tedious but still it could be cheaper option + use whatever in the sub library

          • @mitch21: i just used it today. i used wise NZ and a windows PC using windscribe and edge.

    • +1

I don't think everyone has the time and/or patience to do that

      • -1

It takes minutes to do and saves you 60%, if you don't have the time and patience for that you need to turn in your OzB badge

      A few reasons:

      • People have been through that trick before (different region PSN), Sony closed the loophole in most regions. Will Sony eventually close the Turkey loophole? If so, will you continue to use Turkey PS Plus afterwards?
      • Existing PS Plus monthly game collection. Though this is now less of an issue with PS Plus Extra (since Sony essentially put those games in Extra tier).
      • Save game issue, if you were to get disc version of the games here. Also, you will see 2 copies of the save games for the title(s), can be a bit confusing.
      • Main account doesn't get cloud save (probably a minor issue).
      • Some people still have active PS Plus subscription (not yet ready to switch). If PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium are not of interest (due to already collected enough free games from PS Plus previously), PS Plus standard at discounted price may suffice.

For new PS5 owners, the Turkey method is attractive. It may not be for everyone though. Most of my friends buy physical disc versions of latest games, quickly play, trade in and get the next new release title. They didn't even bother with PS Plus Extra for $3 last time. Standard is fine for them.

      • Interesting, I didn't know saves would be incompatible with local disk versions. Thanks for the perspective

        • +1

Save games are likely incompatible across regions. It's not just physical versions here. You can get the same issue with digital AU version of the same game. Some games have region save game converter, but most don't. The Last of Us part 1, for me, I am stuck on US digital version (it was $9) even though I also own the PS Plus collection AU digital version.

I don't like Sony's region + disc vs digital versions. Should really consider Microsoft's approach. The most annoying part of PS4 and PS5 is the disc version and the digital version of the same title are considered different versions so need to re-download. I have purchased a few digital version of the games I used to own the physical version. Every time, I had to download those games again. Can't Sony just do some sort of patch or a flag tweak to convert my download version from physical to digital? Final Fantasy 7 Remake PS Plus is another good example of this mess.

Initially, Sony said Final Fantasy 7 Remake PS Plus version won't get PS5 upgrade so I went and bought the physical version. Later on, Sony did a 180 and allowed PS Plus version to get the free PS5 upgrade. Naturally, for convenience (no need to insert the disc) and save money (sell the physical version), I would prefer the PS Plus digital version. I had to make multiple calls to Sony PlayStation Support team, I was lucky to get to speak to an Aussie support staff who knows exactly what I was after. He managed to raise a support request to level 2 support to remove my physical disc license completely so I can get the digital PS Plus PS5 upgrade.

        • +1

          Just my 2 cents:
I've had no issues with my save games.
Had the disc version of Wreckfest, Horizon Zero Dawn, Death Stranding directors cut etc.
I didn't even need to re-download the entire game. Went from disc version to the one from Turkish PS+ sub, just clicked "download" which immediately turned into play and just loaded my previous save games.
(That's my experience. I do have a Turkish sub but play on second login, which is Australia)

          • @johnmelb: Looks like Turkey uses PAL region, perhaps that's why. In the past, the cheaper PS Plus ones were from regions using NTSC (but this was PS4 Pro days).

Will try the disc vs digital again later. However, as I mentioned, FF7 remake PS Plus digital version appears to be different and PS5 refused to let me play the digital version without inserting the disc. I actually got FF7 remake PS Plus version (digital) first. Then I bought the disc version. At that time, I already had to download the disc version of the game, then did the upgrade to PS5 version, then delete just the PS4 disc version.

When Sony did the 180 and allowed PS Plus digital version to get PS5 upgrade, that option is simply not available because Sony felt I have the PS5 upgrade via disc version. I had to get Sony support to delete my physical disc version in order to reclaim. A re-download was also required. So basically, downloaded PS4 versions twice, and PS5 versions also twice.

I just tested The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered (PS4), same issue. I bought the digital USA version and I played that version on my main AU account. I just went to AU PSN store of that game, click on download, PS5 started to download the AU version of it.

Good to know Turkey PS Plus doesn't have save game issue (that's the main annoyance with playing US version).

  • I'm good until 2028. I think we can do better than 25%.

  • It didn't appear for me, it might be targeted.
Mine still want to charge the full price

  • So the gift cards… Where do we purchase those? Even better if it's in-store, I prefer not adding credit card details on the PS5.

    • JB, EB Games, Harvey Norman, OfficeWorks, AusPost (online) etc…

For more info, Google: playstation gift cards

      • Aren't they all digital now or can you buy in store still?

        • +1

When purchasing in store, you get a printout of the code on the receipt, but stores still give you that little cardboard so it kinda feel physical.

For online purchases (i.e. from EB games), you just get the digital code. Don't forget you can get discount gift cards for some of those stores and use those gift cards to buy these.

          • @netsurfer: Thanks, I don't want that cardboard thing, just the receipt is fine.

I've got discounted gift cards waiting already that won't work online as I have 10 or so, hence asking if I can buy in store.

            • @GTR12: You can order online with JB hi-fi and it's instantly emailed to you

              • @wako: I can't use my discounted gift cards online.

  • I'm wanting to newly join PS plus for the upcoming Diablo IV. Has anyone tried newly joining PS plus essential for one month and then seeing if this deal shows up? Any other deals or trials currently for new members?

    • I got the povo sub and I received 6 days of upgrade to ultimate or whatever it’s called for free. Now I am an ultimate snob. For 6 days.

      • Playing games non stop for 6 days now?

  • Mine expires in 4 days and this is not available for me.

  • This new deal will apply for everyone - on June 2nd: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/777911
