Before I download app- does anyone know what happens if you go over 1.5gb???

    Is it shaped

    • +2

I believe your speed will be shaped to 0bit/s.

    • +2

      it's pear shaped

  • Thanks OP

  • What is the easiest way to enter DOB, I cant swipe right 2000 times lol

    • Tap the year…. LOL

  • Thanks a lot OP, used this on my trip last week to Jakarta, very good !!!

  • …Is there anything stopping someone from making a new account and getting another 1.5GB?

    • Yes

      • +2

You need to use a unique phone to make the account/eSIM. It knows if your phone has been used before

But once you get the QR code I was able to activate 2 on the same iPhone and use them both with no issues

        • did you delete the app and reinstall to redeem the 2nd esim ? cheers

        • That's true! I wonder how does the app know? I tried clearing storage, uninstall and reinstall, no luck.

          • @cucumber: Wouldn't it be your IMEI number?

            • @Brick50: Oh man… Did I agree for them to collect my IMEI number? Dang

              • @cucumber: How would they issue an eSIM without your imei number?

Whenever I have purchased an eSIM for travel I have always had to provide the imei up front

                • @Brick50: That's a good point. I was just never explicitly prompted for IMEI so I didn't know that's how it works. Learn something new everyday.

  • Can someone pls explain how to bypass the OTP verification at the start, where it asks for whatsapp number? I read a few comments saying they provided fake details, but how do you get around the verification step, without having to provide your actual details?

    • +2

Providing "fake details" refers to your name/DOB. You can't get around the OTP verification.

  • Great thank you so much!

  • is it just me or everyone else shows no service signal today?

  • Can anyone else confirm that the new code works? And that it is 1.5gb instead of 1gb?

    • I signed up using the referral link and got only 500mb. So, don't use that.

      • Can you still add the ESKIMO4U code after sign up?

        • just tried and it didnt work AFTER sign up. Cant stake refferal + bonus. Had to talk to chat to get it applied. Only got 1GB not 1.5

  • Thanks

  • Thanks, I will use it when travel next month.

  • Doh, used a referral code first, and got my 500mb, but then wont allow me to use ESKIMO4U

    • Contact support chat they are quick to reply.

  • I just tried to use the ESKIMO4U and it says you can only use the code during sign up.
Not sure if I did things in the wrong order or they have changed it.

    New promo code - DBTF-1

    • That gives the same error, can only be redeemed during sign up.

  • Last month I was traveling in China for 5 weeks and in 6 cities. I couldn't get connected at all

    • Did you turn data roaming on? I am going to new zealand soon so will be able to test if it works there.

      • yes, I have roaming switched on. my 3HK esim works just fine.

        • +1

In new Zealand right now, the esim works fine here. Tested on 3 eskimo esims

  • +1

So I used this in Malaysia, and it works fine. However, it doesn't work in Singapore which is odd, since the SIM seems to be issued by Singtel.

    • Just returned from a week in Bali where it worked perfectly. Great for getting around using Grab.

  • Can anyone confirm they've got the eSim to work on Google Pixel phone bought in Oz? Thanks

    • Had it working on my pixel 6 which was bought in OZ. Did you turn data roaming on? what's the error?

      • When trying to install eSim (on pixel 4a), when clicked on "direct" installation the error message is "installation cancelled" (immediately). When tried via QR code, scanning network takes forever. eSim still not installed and not sure how to proceed. Currently still in Oz.

        • Can you try the manual esim installation? copy the code given in the app.

Would it be working on Optus prepaid starter pack? Cheers

    • What this offer from Eskimo got to do with any other telco offer?

      • -1

Huh?? You must don't understand what I was trying to ask.
It needs Optus network to use it. I was asking can I use Optus prepaid starter pack in order to make it work?

        • It works on the Optus network In Australia? if that was your question.

          • -2

@Quarter Pounder: I got that. I didn't say it has anything to do with the other telco's offer…

  • Just want to share what I experienced.
Eskimo maintain a list of devices (through DeviceIDs or IMEI) that had installed Eskimo before.
This is for good, they said it is "for security and protection against potential identity theft."
This is OK if you have the device through its lifetime.
If you give the phone to somebody else or sell it, the new owner will not be able to use/register Eskimo with this device.
Sounds like a sticky poo poo to me…
I do not know if you can ask them to de-register

    • I just managed to make a second eskimo account on the same device, still gave me the free data again.

      • Can you share how to do it?
I reached to their support and they said cannot be done

      • Did you use different email, phone number?
I tried on a new device and had to change those. Interestingly this time it prefilled the eskimo4u code for me.
Needed second account because when I signed up for the first one the instructions were to use the code after signing up, but it actually needed to be done during sign up. Could probably have got it added via support to the original acct, but seems easier to get a new one.

  • Sorry tech noob here. Geberal eSim question,

could these esim companies pose security problem? Can they see our data?

    Is this particular company trustworthy?

    • +1

Happy to be corrected here, This particular esim company uses Sims though Singtel (optus parent company). The esim is not being routed through an eskimo ip.

  • Works absolutely fine with the DBTF-1 code.

Make sure you use it during setup. Doesn't work as a voucher/gift code after.

Edit, there's a current "roamless" deal on here for a different provider with free 1gb. There's no expiry on that service, nice bonus for infrequent use.

    • It doesn't work anymore

  • +1

Can’t upvote so have to comment to save it for future use

  • worked like a treat, thanks OP :)

  • Singapore isn't listed but in pretty sure it had worked when I was there.
Especially seeing that SingTel owns Optus.

  • @mods
If this is a repost and it is on the OzB front page, why can't we upvote the post?

Didn't check its during SIGN UP only. Didn't see anywhere to get a code entered!?

Missed it what a waste. personal details given. BAD

  • Would something like this work for an Apple Watch where iPhones are on non e-sim supported providers?

    Might be useful

Aren't these data only sims? What use Apple watch would have?
