Same price on Acer website
Lddr5 8gb, 13500H, storage 512gb, Oled display, upto 9hours battery on acer website (possibly 6 hours)
Note: Not sure if the ram is upgradable, I guess it's not.
Ram not upgradable is the only thing stopping me to pull the trigger and if you wait for couple of months end of financial year would get you macbook air 1 for 1k

Sometimes the vendor (e.g JB HiFi, Gerry Harvey etc.) specifically wants these laptops for as cheap as possible to maximise profit margins so they often place orders for laptops with lower amounts of RAM. It might result in only $30~50 reduction in COGS but multiply that by one thousand and that's equivalent to $30K~$50K extra profit.
Also their target market is often folk who are not that savvy with tech and aren't looking for the best spec or future proofing, they just have a budget to stick to.
I think manufacturers also control the specs on the product they ship to shops too. I read recently that apple did something like that with the m1/M2 airs.
From a shop point of view also, they wouldn't want to bombard their customers with too many customise options. There's enough decision-making for the customer anyway with the broad range of laptops that shops sell.Yeah Apple's 16GB RAM Macbooks are Build-to-order / CTO only — can only be bought directly from them. There is a significant upcharge for the extra RAM, so apple sort of wants to keep that profit margin to themselves and avoid the price erosion that comes with retailers like JB Hifi offering a 10% discount on Macbooks.
They know that the "professional" folk who needs 16GB will pay money for the higher end product, so there's not really an incentive to offer them discounts.
Seems like acer swift battery has gotten worse from the previous gen. Their previous inflated numbers used to be around 12hrs
HP Envy, ASUS VivoBook, Acer Swift EVO
All great laptops when bought in the US with stock 16GB RAM
The AU spec laptops with 8GB non-upgradeable RAM are the 4060 Ti's of laptops, absolute e-waste
Not wrong, being stuck with 8GB forever will suck if you're not a basic user…
Why is 8bg RAM being dismissed all the time? If I am just a social user who needs a relatively light laptop for general browsing/usage - then no big deal for me - again, I might be the demographic these product targets.
8GB is fine - for a $500 laptop
An H class 13th Gen CPU and OLED screen in a laptop with 8GB is the Acer Australia product manager treating Australians like r*tards
The comments in this deal are a big FU back to Acer
Its for puppy linux power users.
which laptop do you recommend that is $1,000 that I can buy right now? looking for weight > 1.25kg and 14inch monitor
Price says $998 when I click on the link, did you round the price up? lol
Was easy, didnt bother to look at the exact price
Interesting. In other countries, the minimum RAM for Swift GO 14 is 16GB, and it is available at an even cheaper price.
Why is 8GB so prolific? 16GB should be a minimum. Planned obsolescence?
