  • Are they now cashing in on "reprinting" vintage sets?

It's new and improved. A 90th birthday celebration of Lego. Space being a well loved theme obviously. Just enjoy one of the other 800 sets released this year.

        It's not "improved"!
Common complaints are it's a flimsy build despite the seemingly over-engineered base (wing), and iffy undercarriage. It's also too large to fit in most display cabinets. The combination of sie and frailty render it quite unplayable - which was the beauty of the original sets, they were small, fairly robust, ultimately fun to play with.
I have this set - I had been coveting my old, orginal Classic Space sets ever since my kids got me back into Lego. Frustratingly 50,000 pieces later I still can't build even the small sets.
They could have done a better job with the minifigs too - two red and two white, why not the old Classic yellow, or the black. Or even added a more collectible one, for example, the Brown that came out in the recent CMF packs, or the purple one for which you need to buy one of the lunar new year sets to obtain the helmet.

This set should have been easy to make a hit, somehow Lego has managed to miss most of the aspects fans wanted from Classic Space.

Really like that older generation of LEGO (and the ones around the same time) rather than all the modern builds that have every part perfectly sculpted from the factory. There's less imagination required in modern builds IMO.
    Sorry, feeling my age today.

    • +1

It might make you feel even older but the models with the super-custom pieces stopped when Lego restructured 20 years ago.

      • +2

        Staahp!

      • +1

        Stopped? Bullsh-t.

There's still so many custom parts and they are a plague on imaginative creation.

      • What are you on about?

Lego has way more custom piece moulds in their inventory today than they did 20 years ago.

  • Got and built the original LL928 in ’80/81 (when I was well under the recommended age of 18 for this new set).

Repurposed a couple years later into a frigate, when my interest switched from spaceships to warships :)

I remember I had always wanted this one with the moon base setup. Hahah damn might have to get this one!

I recently found my childhood sets and rebuilt them.

    All-terrain Vehicle 6927
    FX Star Patroller 6931
    Gamma V Laser Craft 6891
    Xenon X-Craft 6872
    Space Patrol 6803

    • Awesome selection. I'm trying to get more classic space sets but the aftermarket on these is eye watering.

      • Yikes I just had a look and the new unopened sets are a bit silly.

  • It was $104.89 on Thursday. 😁😁

    • Looks like it's been as low as $95 on according to camel and sub $120 from May at least so this is an increase if anything.

      • +1

How reliable is that though? Eg camels is saying that this is currently available at $99.97, but, when following the link on Amazon, the cheapest available option is $147.21 https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B08Z9VYN33

      Why no share?? :(

      • This time I bought it for $50 above it's historic low :( made a mistake 😢

      • Some people here are resellers ;)

        • All your bargains are belong to us?

  • +1

I just want a red and a white minifig that don't lose the gold colour. They really should have had four different coloured minifigs.

Does it come with the same English box and instructions?
