Update: 2 pairs, lol
At 60% plastic, do they really justify the price?
You wouldn't want to pay full price.
I haven't tried them before, so I grabbed two pairs of these 82% merino socks for $50. Not a bargain, but with frosty mornings, they'll do the job until something else comes on sale. https://www.macpac.com.au/macpac-merino-hiking-sock/114832.h…How thick are these 82% merino socks? Thinking of picking up a pair but don't want super thick socks for work
Quite thick. I wear them with a suit and business shoes and they're great on a -5 morning in Canberra, but i hate cold toes.
@CacheHunter: Lol I am also in Canberra and was tossing up between these and Icebreaker socks (as they seem a bit thinner).
Icebreaker are $4 more per pair and also lower merino percentage.
I wanted something I could also wear in summer and not be too hot. Would you be able to wear the MacPac ones in summer? or would they be too thick?@Anon257: 90% of my work socks are icebreaker, mostly hike+ heavy crew. High wool content means that they breath and are fine in summer. However, they are thick.
I also have some 'hike medium crew', which are a bit thinner, but not quite warm enough for some of Canberra's recent cold mornings.
Hike+ Heavy crew seems to go for about $45/pair. It's early days, but after trying the macpac ones, I'm going to be keeping my eyes open for the next icebreaker sale.
2 socks or 2 pairs?
