About this item

  • Durable monitor arm takes flexibility and comfort to the max; easy screen adjustment offers 64 cm (25 inches) of extension and 33 cm (13 inches) of lift
  • 360-degree screen pan and rotation lets you find your best view for each project; frees up desk space for your phone and notes with neat cable management
  • Fits single screens up to 34 inches diagonal and 11.3 kg (25 lbs); folds to fit under storage shelves or a cabinet when you’re ready for a screen break
  • Includes LX arm, 20cm (8-inch) pole, extension, desk clamp base
  • Sturdy, professional-grade design includes a 10-year warranty

The LX Extension is also on sale for $43.21 from Amazon Japan to further extend the arm reach by 23cm. However it will reduce the load capacity from 11.3 kg to 8.2 kg. You'll probably have to click on the other sellers to find Amazon Japan if it doesn't show.

Very similar to the Amazon Basics Monitor Arm however comes in white, also I believe the Amazon one isn't as matte as the black version of the Ergotron. The Ergotron also comes with a 10 year warranty. The white model doesn't come with a grommet mount according to the comments, so you could either buy a grommet mount separately or get the black version for $200.27 or the Amazon Basics model.

I’ve had a cheap eBay arm, a North Bayou arm and an Ergotron LX (both short & tall pole) and the Ergotron is the best - strongest (and most adjustable) hold & smoothest movement and felt the most solidly made. I’m in Melbourne and the Ergotron didn’t move through last year’s earthquake but the North Bayou slipped 1/2 way down towards the desk.

I'll buy the cheaper one and move it back in the event of an earthquake

For sure, it's easy to adjust the North Bayou arm. I think you see though that that was just an example of how LX holds more strongly and has better build quality than the North Bayou. That was alsowith a 24" monitor, I could see a bigger monitor on my North Bayou being moved by lesser forces to the point of needing adjusting more frequently and I wonder about the ultimate longevity. And yes, so what if you have to adjust it, but equally why not just put the monitor on a desk stand or on some books? It's a convenience thing, I just put it out there for consideration.

I am using an Ergotron HX. It’s not worth the money! For whoever considering the LX version, just buy the Amazon Basic version. They are exactly same .

      • +2

What are you mounting on it? The HX is basically for 48”+ TVs or super curved monitors like the Samsung Odyssey G9 where the LX can’t handle the tilt.

        • +1

Yep. If you're using an HX version, you need the HX version.
LX is more than enough for many monitors. I use it on my Alienware ultrawide. Best investment.

        • I certainly mount a tv as my monitor on my HX. Apparently some assholes don’t agree with me and begged my comment. Fine. Lol

          • @aec: Yeah bit unfortunate, maybe you came out a bit strong on dismissing the HX but I wouldn’t neg for that. What TV are you using? I bought the LX and extension to mount a LG C2 42” to it.

            • @CloudZero: I have been using a HX for my 48 LG OLED and its been amazing. Well worth the spend.

            • @CloudZero: So I take it you just bought this deal and haven't tried it yet? The extension drops the holding weight to 8.2kg, the LG C2 42" is 9kg without the stand + include the weight of the vesa adaptor, be interested to know how it goes for you. If this soloution works it'd be perfect for me as with extension the arm will pull out horizontally to a distance of 87cm.

              • @Baron-K: It should arrive by June 8th. I'll be using the TV with feet haha, I have a hollow ikea table so it'll destroy the table and yeah it's over the load capacity with the extension. I mainly bought it so that rather than lifting 10kg to move the TV between my desk and the table in front of my bed and risk damaging it, I'll just have to lift 1-2kg and swivel it around. When I get around to swapping out the table for solid wood, I'll try removing the feet.

Ergotron is by far the best monitor arm out there and well worth it if you have an expensive monitor.

    • The stand worths for its feature, probably not what it carries.

    • Or Humanscale.

After our office got them for everyone I was sold on them and bought some for the home office.

  • Do I need this for a Dell S3422DWG or can I get away with one of the NB monitor arms? I’m happy to pay for quality but I’d rather not spend almost half of the monitor on the arm itself.

    • You could probably do well with the NB H100 arm, my only concern would be the small base if you have a hollow desk like from ikea. I'd say the Ergotron makes sense if you want to buy an arm that lasts for a decade or so (unless monitor form factor changes), or if you move your monitor a lot.

      • I have one of the solid IKEA countertops (Karlby) so that won’t be an issue. I guess I could always wait for the Amazon basics monitor arm to go on sale seeing as that’s a rebadged ergotron.

        • Yeah looking at camelcamelcamel the Amazon Basics went as low as ~$120 in May 2022 which would be the best option.
