How does this compare to the double length stuff ALDI sells in a three pack for ~$5.40?

    • +3

I'm no expert on paper towels, but my wife hated the Aldi ones. Purely on that basis, I will only get viva from now on

  • +3

Thanks, it's always a good idea to stock up on these when you have little kids

    • And dogs…

      • And kids of other sizes…

  • +15

Holy shot! 30 smackeroos for freakin' paper towels? What really is this world coming to? Food shortages, inflations, tasers, and whatever. I'm gonna hide under my blanket and will somebody let me know when this is over? Sheesh.

    • +10

I have the same thought - $30 seems expensive for paper that's going right into the trash.

Cost of living increases are real !

    • -4

Still better than using a disgusting dish cloth or hand towel 🦠

      • Depending on the use, I highly recommend Mr Siga microfibre cloths off Amazon.

Super absorbent, black (so stains aren’t relevant), and machine washable!

        • -3

Unless you’re washing after every single use, yuck.

          • +12

@PainToad: If I’m wiping the kitchen bench after cooking, it’s perfectly fine. I rinse out afterwards with soap in the kitchen sink. And then machine wash at the end of the week so it’s always pretty fresh.

I think the only yuk thing for me would be wiping the floor. For that, I’d always use paper towels, or use a cloth only once and then put it to wash.

          • +4

@PainToad: it’s a kitchen bench you’re not wiping your ass with it

      • +2

        cue the scrubby mommy/daddy links.

      • +1

If you use a clean towel with clean hands to dry clean dishes, shouldn't the towel still be clean? Then use it to clean one spill and put it in the hamper. Washing a hamper full of tea towels probably uses less water than the manufacture of a few rolls of paper towel, and is cheaper.

    • +1

Don't worry mate - will wake you up like - "Never" !

    • +4

Typical big business trying to fleece consumers and in my opinion are the ones causing inflation. Instead once again pushing the blame on the common person like they do with other things.

      • +2

I did hear a report that gross margins have improved a lot for a lot of large listed companies in their financial reports hmmmmmm

    • +1

Just raid the cleaner cupboard at work

    • If you stuff enough of this under your clothing, you'll be taser-proof!

    • +1

I bought Quilton paper towel, 12 packs (not double roll as they don’t fit our holder) at Amazon for $21.60 for 2 packs late last year , so bit cheaper than what paper is now.
$30 doesn’t sound cheap at all , even Quilton that’s gone up a heap is $15.30/12 normal price.

  • +15

I paid $19.80 for this on 8 March 2022. Damn, that is a lot of increase on the price

    • +15

It’s not like this grows on trees. Oh.

    • +4

A 50% increase in just one year is taking the p*ss…

      • +6

        taking the p*ss…

You’re probably after toilet paper in that case.

        • Or blotting paper

  • +1

still using my quilton 24 pack of absorba from end July purchase last year…they are great paper towels…got them for $22.50 on SS (cancelled after I received the order) Prob have about 9 left

    • +1

      Can resell for profit!

      • +2

not on your life sonny lol. I even sometimes peel one part of a sheet to use in the microwave if I don't need the full 4 ply….makes them go even further.

  • +1

How do these compare to the Quilton Absorba 4ply Paper Towel Rolls?

    • +1

these are only 2 ply and the quilton are 4….so. Still good value, but I have the quilton atm and they are pretty darned good. I even split the sheets (ply) if I don't need anything too much to microwave something (i.e. not much steam/water coming off it, if a single slice of frozen bread for example)

      • +2

4ply is far too soft. If you seriously try to clean yourself very good, there might be leftover paper stick up your bum. I know too much info, but it happened to me. The paper is too weak!

        • hahaha

          • @souths123: I might have to find reasons to buy a bidet. Unfortunately my wife doesn’t like them. Australians are scared by bidets…

            • @Thrifty Dan: mate, read my comment below

            • +1

@Thrifty Dan: Is the bidet water heated? Getting a blast of icy cold water up the toot in winter isn't the best when you're half asleep in the middle of the night

        • Probably not a good idea to use 4 ply paper towel to wipe your bum

      • Looking for new paper towels, the Quilton went from $25.20 S&S to over $50 so I cancelled my subscription.

        Crazy increase

    • I find these way stronger than the Absorba (note: Not used for bum stuff as per post above)

      • I’ll give them a go

    • +1

Quilton Absorba 4ply are the best.

These Visa towels are good, they have a good texture and absorb well. I wouldn't use cheaper than these, you probably lose economy because they aren't absorbent enough so you use way more despite being cheaper. I was a happy user of these for a long time.

However, the Quilton 4 ply are the only paper towel I've found that I don't have to fold (i.e. two sheets when I only want to use one) because they are thick enough not to completely absorb whatever it is I'm wiping without it coming through the paper and getting on my hand straight away. It's a better user experience and you use less of them. Sometimes they can even be a bit stiff and you use the tactile feedback because they are so thick. I buy them from Amazon in the pack of 24 when on special for $25 or so.

      • Thanks paper towel expert.

Crazy what the current prices are

  • -1

3rd most expensive price in history and they don’t fit in my toilet roll holders.

    • +3

hahaha…I'd be surprised if these fit on ANYONE'S toilet roll holders lol they are paper towels, not toilet paper rofpml

    • I hope this is a joke.

    • Yes, they don’t fit our either.

  • -4

    Is this cheaper ? 120 roll x $2 per roll x 2ply
    Woolies https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/0000000000…

  • +2

    OOS?

  • +1

More than $2 for a single roll and this is a deal? Really? We have to call out these corporates who are taking us for a ride exploiting us all the way through and raking in millions and billions in profit year in year out. God this is becoming crazy.

  • cannot afford it, better wash my bottom with water now…

  • +1

It hurts to see and buy on these prices, but what to do, should wait for price to come down, which might never happen !

  • $26 paper towels? Thanks Albo.

  • +2

Decent deal, considering it's double in quantity without doubling on price, comparing to the original rolls: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B076CJSR3D

But probably won't fit into my under cabinet paper towel holder. Will be a pain to go through 12 rolls of this. :D

  • Still available!

  • how much does it work out per 100 sheets?

  • +1

    Back in stock!
