I grabbed the Asus dual oc 4070 for $896. With D4 the price somewhat palatable.
Why the 2X instead of 3X ?
dang, the 3x is cheaper too but sadly my case isn't big enough… its over 300mm long :(
yea, not actually sure any of them will fit after checking. My pc is a hp omen pre-built with a 2080ti and I just realised that even though its 2 slot gpu like the 4070, the 4070 cards seem a tiny bit thicker (about 9mm) and the stupid mobo has the motherboard battery just under the gpu and some cable plugged in just under it too… so now thickness is an issue >_<
Is there a significant performance drop between 2x and 3x?
Sorry just for context the 3x was $800 this morning but got jacked pretty quick, I think only a couple were sold before they did that. I'd assume the 3x would perform marginally better due to it having three fans and probably having a slightly bigger heat-sink mass. The options now for cheapest price is Windforce and 2X. I don't know which performs better.
I think linus did a vid and it was like 6fps more max on most games.
PSA: MSI Registration requires a CHK number which is at the back of your graphics card. No where else in the box there is a mention of this CHK thats required to register your card and redeem the game. Such a pain, I now have to disassemble my PC to access that number. So please take a photo of the serial number on the card before installation.
