    $198 at Harvey Norman!

Shame on Amazon can't even beat Hardly Normal!!

Using a pair right now. At this price I'm tempted to buy another for wife.

      • Looks like Gerry got his way with all that lobbying for GST on foreign imports years ago.

    • +1

Hmm, I did have a quick look before posting. Hadn't had my coffee yet though.

    • I guess you could price beat at Officeworks? I don't think they will with the HN one as that is a clearance price. How much would it be at Officeworks?

    • Thanks, I bought it from my good old true blue Aussie instead of Jeff.

    • For 3 days only.

  • Are these better than AirPods Pro 2? I’m secretly lining up for 10am…

    • -5

No, in my opinion the AirPods Pro 2 are better for transparency mode, noise cancelling, comfort, ergonomics, longevity, compatibility with Apple, sound quality. These may be superior for bass. But these are pretty close for $180 less.

    • Nah, I don't think they are better, fair too because they are in different price categories. Probably the better choice if you are an android user, but its hard to beat the airpod pros in that price range, especially if you use transparency mode lots.

    • They're on par, if you're an apple user only. Read the reviews on whathifi for the detailed comparison.

      https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/apple-airpods-pro-2

At this price, the wf-1000xm4s are a complete no brainer.

      • What HiFi shouldn’t be used in any purchasing decision

    • +1

      They look Cooler than Airpods.

  • +3

I have these. They are good nothing wrong with them. They just stickout too far from the ear and are ony good for stationary use.

    • +3

They stick out? You must have very small ears…

As long as there's no stems I'm ok…

I wear them to and from work and not once I'm worried about them falling out from my ears. Find the right tip size for your ear?

The ANC is great and effective, LDAC + FLAC sounds awesome. I have zero complaints.

      • I also have significant issues with the left earbud falling out - I've experimented with all ear tips, but nothing fixes it. YMMV.

    • -3

Exactly. No point buying expensive headphones if they are ergonomically poorly designed and aren't stable. Makes sense to spend the extra $100 or so and get something for all environments like AirPods Pro 2 that can be used outside, with minimal occlusion

    • I just upgraded from M3, fits much better and less bulky.

    • Haha tiny ears. Use these to go jogging and when I'm doing bag work with no problems - great for all use cases.

    • I have these for almost a year now and use them for everything like commute, phone calls, running after work. Excellent noise cancelling and never had them drop out of the ear. Good battery life, too.

  • Too bassy out of the box. But once you tweak the EQ (plenty on Reddit/google to try), wow; the mids, lows, highs are pretty balanced.

If I'm being super picky, I feel the Sennheiser feels more open and wider.

    Also has multipoint bt now.

  • +2

Have owned these for a long time now. Keep in mind they have multi point Bluetooth now. Can connect to two different devices, great for mobile + PC usage. Also a tip - if you find the foam tips uncomfortable, replace them with silicone tips. I was about to return them but once I got the silicone tips it was a game changer.

    • Which silicone tips do you use and can recommend?

      • I use the tips from my WF-C500 earphones. But you can look on amazon or ebay for a bunch of compatible silicone tips. Get anything that has decent reviews.

  • +2

Buying from Amazon will save you time and effort and kill less brain cells than trying in ebay

    • Buy from Amazon the AU tax evaders or from Harvey Norman who pushed the government to impose a 10% import tax on us. Tough decision.

  • +1

    I own both these and the Airpods Pro 2. I will get straight to the point;

Sound Quality is better on the XM4 for sure, but quite uncomfortable after long hours due to size and weight. I actually end up grabbing my Airpods Pro 2 most of the time SOLELY because of this reason.

    • Can I ask which do you think has better anc?

Specifically for baby crying? Have some long flights I have to go on in near future

      • +1

If you're looking for exceptional ANC, go with over-ear headphones - they're just in a totally different league. Between those two options, though, the XM4s should be better.

  • what are some good quality/value earphones for gym use or small ears? I always have them fall out

    • JBL Live Pro 2 or AirPods Pro 1 refurb from Kogan/similar. Adjust the ear tips to fit accordingly

    • Get Sony WF-C500. Small, very light weight, physical buttons. Great sound. I own these and use them more than XM4s.

  • Seems like everyone is going for these type of headphones rather than over ear cans. Is there a reason for that? I’m looking to buy some Bluetooth cans for air travel.

    • Mainly, they don't heat up your ears and are really compact - can fit in your pocket and not take any carry-on space. I could see you wanting over ears to plug in the aux to an IFE screen though.

    • Because in my personal opinion it looks stupid to use big headphones in public, more importantly I don't want it to mess up my hair lol

ANC on these earbuds is more than sufficient to block off most noise on plane. not saying it's better than a good pair of ANC Headphones, but good enough IMO.

    • For air travel, would definitely recommend something over ear - the noise cancelling is just so much better. I've never tried these on a plane, but I genuinely don't think they'd block out much of the noise if you're looking to sleep or something (I wear on trains - still can easily hear things, just muffles the noise which is actually perfect for my use case).

      • Thanks, I think I will go with over-ear. Sometimes I just want to use them to mask background noise, rathre than listen to something and I think over-ear would be simplest to achieve that.

@mg_k - hehe, yeah understand messing up your hair is a good reason to get in-ear types.

@Techie4066 - yeah the downside is heating up your ears, I've had that with my partner's Sennheisers.

  • How do these compare to the Galaxy buds 2 pro?

  • Can anyone comment on the call quality? Background noise cancellation to be specific.
Sold on the Audio reviews, but need a pair with good call quality.

  • +1

Looks like the black version has been price matched to HN's price of $198

    • Yes you are right.

  • Any luck price matching with office works?

    • I reckon you probably can with Amazon, probably not with HN as they are clearing it. Having said that, I've never really tried price matching.

      • The clearance, might just be a special deal they have done with Sony over the next few days. I don't know for sure, but I've worked for a Company that had 3 birthday sales a year

    • +1

I just price matched at Officeworks using Amazon. I initially tried Harvey Norman but they said no matching with clearance price so I whipped out the No u card with Amazon and it worked out to be $188.10

      • Sweet, I'll give it a go
