Good Laptop/Specs for Photoshop/Lightroom Work? 2.5 -3K

I see all kinds of posts for gaming, but none for Photoshop/Lightroom/Illustrator.

I'm scouting for someone else and I don't use these programs, so hoping someone here can point me to the sort of laptop I'd need to be looking at. I wasn't sure if a gaming GPU is okay or if should it be something CAD-ish for graphics.

Thanks for your input.

    budget?

You want a dedicated graphics card but more importantly you want a colour accurate display.

  • Any chance you'd want to get into the other Adobe apps like AfterEffects, video editing, etc.?

Is the friend you’re asking for a student/hobbyist or a pro? I’m guessing the former because if they were using these applications to make money they’d know what hardware to buy.

  • Photoshop work is not going to benefit from an expensive GPU. What you need is a lot of memory (RAM).

Been researching the same thing. Check out this article.

    • You've linked a purveyor of custom PC workstations but I think OP is scouting for a notebook. Adobe says M1-native Photoshop runs 50% faster than on Intel-powered equivalent laptops.

Noted. I suppose I thought by reading that article you get an idea of what hardware bits and pieces are important. But yes the article is intel/amd and not M1/M2.
I am a complete novice, I was comparing what the article says to different laptops I'm looking at.

        • If we're talking M1/M2 versus Windows in notebooks, the automotive analogy would be: I wanna buy whatever's less powerful, needs refuelling more often and has less resale value.

  • So sorry! The price range is 2.5-3K. And as she has always used MS, yes, stay w/MS.

    Thanks all!

  • In the MS range, I see Acer & Dell. Gigabyte and Asus both have a lot of issues. Is it really this poor in 2023?
