  • Does it count as new if you move your gas over but already have electricity with them?

    • From the t's & c's.
Provided that you haven’t received any other one-off Everyday Rewards points in connection with this Energy Plan in the preceding 10-month period for the fuel supplied under this Energy Plan, you will be eligible to receive one-off Everyday Rewards points, as set out in the Details section, if you:

maintain the Energy Plan for a minimum of 30 days; and
provide your Everyday Rewards membership number to Origin when you sign-up to the Energy Plan.

  • +1

Does it come with any rate discount?

    • +4

Prices arent the sharpest I've come across but with the $150 credit if you only stay for a short time you'd come out ahead I'd say.

  • Thanks signed up!

  • +1

Certainly not the cheapest but my energy bill is quite low.

The points + 150$ bonus will make it 3.5 months free electricity for me. Good deal.

  • The prices are terribly average. Might sign up in late June just to get the points and $150 credit then bail

  • Convert to Qantas afterwards or not?

    • Depends on how actually useful the Qantas points are for you.

They can be valued up to ~1.7-1.8c/point, if you do make use of them for business class/no competition route redemptions.

Then you just have to compare whether such valuation is worth the higher price you pay Origin than its competitors.

  • Probably a silly question but if we switch to a different provider, then does your current provider get automatically notified about the switch or do we have to inform them?

    • +1

they will be notified and will try to retain you

      • Does that mean that we don't have to call and cancel with our old electricity provider?

What about when we change our internet provider? Are they notified or do we have to call and cancel?

        • +2

No need to contact existing electricity provider.

As for your internet provider, it depends on the incoming and outgoing provider. Read their T+Cs. I'm on FTTP technology and have changed from Belong>superloop>origin. Belong switched over to superloop using the same uni-d port and didn't require cancellation. When I subscribed to Origin they allocated a different uni-d port. Since multiple uni-d ports can be active the same time, you will be double charged if you don't cancel the outgoing provider. Also please make sure to manage your billing period as some providers won't offer a prorated refund if you prepay your internet. Both belong and superloop are prepaid.

    • +1

When you swap electricity, the new provider takes you over within a few days. If you call, you can set a future date. I just switched but want to stay with Energy Aust until 8/6 as on a fixed contract with much better rates. If I started with Ovo today then their rates would apply on my bill for the WHOLE 3 months billing period. Why - because it is assumed you are changing to get a better rate. Obviously not always the case.

  • So you have to sign up to Origin Everyday Rewards Variable or Origin Go Variable energy plan
And add Origin Go Zero Electricity ($1.50/week) or Origin Go Zero Natural Gas ($1.00/week) when you sign up to this Energy Plan to be eligible to receive one-off bonus Everyday Rewards points? And have to be on plan for atlteast 30 days.

    One-off Everyday Rewards points

Provided that you haven’t received any other one-off Everyday Rewards points in connection with this Energy Plan in the preceding 10-month period for the fuel supplied under this Energy Plan, you will be eligible to receive one-off Everyday Rewards points, as set out in the Details section, if you:

maintain the Energy Plan for a minimum of 30 days; and
provide your Everyday Rewards membership number to Origin when you sign-up to the Energy Plan.
The one-off Everyday Rewards points for electricity and/or natural gas will be deposited into your Everyday Rewards account within approximately 45 days after your Acceptance Date.

If you opt in for and purchase Origin Go Zero Electricity or Origin Go Zero Gas when you sign up to this Energy Plan you will be eligible to receive one-off bonus Everyday Rewards points. These points will be deposited into your Everyday Rewards account within approximately 45 days from the date you signed up to this Energy Plan.

    • I signed up without the go zero options and it shows the amount of points you will get during the checkout process, which was 25k. I assume that wording is just confirm you are still eligible if you go with one of those options.

      • Did you sign up to the origin Go variable plan which has 6% discount?

        • No, signed up to the Origin Everyday Rewards Variable as thats the one that the promos apply to.

  • WA, they are only giving 5000 rewards points, nah stay with AGL.

    • Did you go through the link above? When you go directly to the website it's 5000 which is their standard promo.

      • Yes, tried again the same result.

        • Strange, doesn’t say anything in the ts & cs about WA being excluded from points promo.

  • Electricity and gas really shouldn't be privatised

    • Essential services should not be privatised.

  • I signed up for this in NSW but it wasn't giving me the points - I just got 5000. I contacted them and they said this offer is targeted and only for people who got the email. I cancelled.

      • The nbn deal definitely isn’t targeted its accessible through their website to anyone.

        • How did you receive this offer?

Searching found Origin Everyday Rewards plan shows only 2500pt for electricity + 2500pt for gas.
The 5000 pts offered to others here.

@INFIDEL: Came across the link on a Qantas Frequent Flyer FB page. It looks like they've changed the terms since i posted yesterday to limit it to only people that recieved the offer directly (more in my below comment).

          • @INFIDEL: Check your everyday rewards account. I can see it in my everyday rewards account as a boosted offer.

            • @ClaudeVL: Not targeted.
Had earlier checked boosters on app - not there on multiple family Rewards accounts.

Receive $100 @Woolies - $150 Visa card every 2-3 months for changing to cheaper electricity retailers.
              Just not this offer.

Deal was updated after my comment to TARGETED.

Lucky you were targeted & boosted.
As you & OP confirmed below:
              Offer T&C have changed.

              • @INFIDEL: Is there any disadvantage to change the retailer frequently. i was not explored earlier and trying to explore all these saving option now. thanks to OzBargin.

                • @Ozfanmel: It all depends on your circumstances.

I have all electric house, no solar. About the simplest rate to compare.
Check the rates, not just the rebates etc.

There are generally no fees to change retailer - Canberra encourages it.
                  No credit check implications.
                  Pretty easy & painless.

                  • @INFIDEL: Sure. Thanks. my house also just electric, no solar.

            • @ClaudeVL: Offer is still being rolled out!

Offer & email arrived on 1 Rewards account today🎯

    • Maybe doing the dodgy, fairly sure they've added new wording next to the ts & cs link about the targetted email since i last looked. I'll enjoy that argument. Did it show that you were going to get 25k during the checkout process?

      • For me, it didn't show the 25k during checkout, even though I went through the promo link, which is why I queried it right away. They might have changed the ts & cs as I read them before starting the process and I'm sure there wasn't anything about it being targeted.

        • Interesting, the 25k showed for me during checkout yesterday and I'm confident that extra wording about it being targeted wasnt there. Looks like they've tried to put a lid on it.

          • @Cheepcheep88: You're right the extra wording added, i took a screenshot the other day and compared to it now.

*T&Cs apply. Offer only available to eligible Everyday Rewards members who received the offer directly from Everyday Rewards

            • @ClaudeVL: Thought so. Although i did check my everyday rewards app after seeing your comment above and the offer has appeared in there already boosted. Fairly sure thats the first time I've seen it and didnt manually boost it.

  • Can you stack with refferal credit too?

    • Would like to know too

  • This targeted offer is still being rolled out!

Get up to 40,000 points with Origin💡🌏
…Connect to Origin Electricity and get 25,000 points, plus a $150 credit on your Origin account.

    Finally targeted🎯
Offer & email arrived on 1 Rewards account today👍

Time to change electricity retailer for a month…
Changed to current retailer 2 months ago for $100 Woolies gift cards due next month.

  • I found I can boost via Everday Rewards app. I got email from Everyday Rewards. But, I wonn't go head as Solar plan is not eligible (12c feed-in). Their Everyday Rewards plan is not good in SA. For gas rate, their rate is much higher than Globird in SA.

  • Note, just confirmed with everyday rewards rep, and i T&Cs under One-off Everyday Rewards points:
The one-off Everyday Rewards points for electricity and/or natural gas will be deposited into your Everyday Rewards account within approximately 45 days after your Acceptance Date.

If you opt in for and purchase Origin Go Zero Electricity or Origin Go Zero Gas when you sign up to this Energy Plan you will be eligible to receive one-off bonus Everyday Rewards points. These points will be deposited into your Everyday Rewards account within approximately 45 days from the date you signed up to this Energy Plan.

    • Are you saying you have to opt in for go zero plans?

      • Yes, i chat with Everyday Rewards representative

        • That definitely isnt how the tc & cs read. It also told me how many bonus points I was going to receive during the checkout process and I didn't select that option.

  • I signed up for the deal last week, got today 2500 points and an email confirming the 2500 points.

I see the deal as boosted in the Everyday Rewards app and if I read through all the pdfs, it everywhere says that any one-off bonus points will be paid out if one stays connected for at least 45 days. So the 2500 of today would be a bit early paid out, given that I did not even pay one bill yet. The 25k points are not mentioned in the "Details" section of the first email I got. Guess I have to see if I will get them in a couple of weeks time.

    • +1

As I discussed earlier, there are 2 DIFFERENT Rewards offers.

Non targeted one is 2500 for electricity + 2500 for gas.

Other is targeted 25,000 for electricity + 15,000 for Gas!! A huge difference!
Luckily I waited & was targeted

      • Meh.

I had it showing up in my Rewards app as boosted with the 25k+15k. But maybe I signed up before it showed up also in my app somehow!?

I will give it a shot and complain but not much hope.

        • Noticed your very early comment.
          Need to boost first.

But I've had luck contacting Rewards. Boosted, shopped on Monday & then Sunday in same week, rather than next day. Got the 3k.

But this is much larger points, & partner (Origin) offer.

Always worth a try. Good luck!

  • I applied today, should get 25000 points for Electricity and 30000 points for internet, and extra $10 off per month for bundle. I guess I'll stay for a couple of months and see what's available then.

    • interesting bundle too, but origin NBN plan with $10 off is still high. looks we can move out after 2 months once receive 30000 points?

You will receive your Everyday Rewards points approximately 45 days after you signed up to your Origin Internet plan

      • interesting, mine said $15 off NBN.

  • Signed up today. Easy!

Receive $150 from Origin & first quarterly $137.50 Qld "cost of living" payment into electricity account after 1/7💰
Then 25k Rewards points within 45 days.

Will switch retailer after minimum time & cash out my credits.

Profitable, considering my electricity bills are now $35/m. But will be a bit higher after 1/7!

  • Thanks signed up like others have mentioned its a good deal until the market settles with their pricing for after 1 July. In the meantime this should cover most of my next months bill , cheers

  • perfect timing, I was about to get hard done by Red with very high changes. Cheers!

  • +1

As a note i got my 25k points earlier in the week.

    • Great!
"will be credited within 45 days"

Took over 90d to receive $100 Woolies egift card (last week), after signed up with Econnex Deal to switch electricity retailers. Must use card within 3 months.

Switched electricity retailer again in this Deal for faster & more flexible $125 Rewards credit etc.
      A better Deal👍

  • Signed up in last week of June and now have received the $150 credit. Still waiting for the EDR points bonus.

    • +1

      Recieved $150 account credit today
Points will come after 30 days from signup

      • It's been over 30 days for me now and still haven't got the bonus EDR points yet. I had another look at the T&C and found this:

The one-off Everyday Rewards points for electricity and/or natural gas will be deposited into your Everyday Rewards account within approximately 45 days after your Acceptance Date.

  • Signed up 28 June and got the $150 credit yesterday as well as the 30,000 points (was surprised how quickly this came). Still waiting on Gas to be connected as that takes longer than electricity
Signed up to monthly bills so that the credit can get applied sooner and then can assess options on price competitiveness

    • +1

I did at last day June 30, received $150 credit no points yet.
also didn't realize gas took so long as now I moved out, had to call supplier (red) to disconnect and told $15 disconnection fee will be charged.

      • Points might be a couple days away. I'll certainly be waiting longer for the gas points as I've just been told 18 July is when it will get connected , that's 3 weeks after signing up

      • same…no points yet.

    • Are you sure the points where from this offer.
      You should get 40k points

      • I stand corrected. I signed up to Origin Internet on 7 July to take advantage of the 30,000 pts + 12 months Paramount+ subs offer. Looks like it's attributed to that, which is even more surprising given I got the points credited in just over a week post sign up.
My Everyday Rewards app says "Origin Energy Plan 30,000 points" this is what makes it confusing.

        • I also signed up for the NBN plan in at the start of May and received the points around 25 days later.

I then moved home at the end of June so cancelled my NBN (went with Aussie instead at the new place). I saw this origin electricity offer so signed up for it around June 24. I just ticked over the 45 days and no points yet. My first bill ends 31 August.

How is the best way to get the points applied? Call origin I suppose?

  • Received 25,000 Rewards pts for electricity
$150 credit shown in first bill🎉

Happy that Origin electricity charges were same as with PowerShop for July.

  • Got my 40000k points today and gas not even connected yet.

Time to cashout the $150 and move out to energy locals to use my amex x 10 $30 offers

Signed up last day of offer

  • Signed up for the Vic deal with 25,000 points. Only got given 5000, I have sent multiple emails over last few weeks but not a single reply from Origin.

    • Did you finally manage to get this sorted? I'm having the same issue.

      • I am having this issue too! I signed up on 2nd June and the 5000 points were added on 31th July. I noticed just now. Called Origin and I was told to contact wws. Then I called wws and was told they will investigate. But not sure how long it will take!

        • Lol I just contacted EDR and they told me to contact Origin. I'm literally in the queue with Origin now.

          • @foxes28: Origin told me the number of points credited is decided by wws, not by them …

            • @fornever: Ok just got off the call with Origin now. They said they will fix it for me by tomorrow.

              • @foxes28: Thank you very much for your update! Could you please post here if your issue is resolved tomorrow. Then I will call Origin again!

                • @fornever: Nws! Will do. I'm a bit sceptical tbh, because the guy said they will remove the 5k from your EDR account (that was for a different promo) and reapply the correct points. Problem is I have used that 5k points as my EDR account is set up to convert to Qantas points automatically.

                  • @foxes28: Thank you! Hope they can do simple maths and add the remaining points asap.
For my case, wws staff told me they will send request to Origin regarding my missing 25000 + 2000 - 5000 = 22000 EDR points. I have extra 2000 points for green electricity when sign-up.

                    • @fornever: Origin called me. As I expected, they are unable to withdraw the points etc. so they gave me $100 credit in lieu of 20,000 EDR points.

                      • @foxes28: That's good. I will call Origin in the afternoon! Thank you for updating!

                        • @fornever: I actually left origin before I sorted it out, I contacted them online multiple times with no reply. They said they wouldn’t do anything and were trying to breach their terms and conditions.

I had to contact EWOV (vic ombudsman) and they resolved it straight away, apologising that I couldn’t resolve it otherwise

Origin initially told me that I had to be a customer after 45 days and that’s why I wasn’t eligible, but I pointed out that I only had to be a customer for 30 days, and that they should have deposited them within 45 days. They disagreed

                          • @Brick50: I am actually still waiting for the points. Origin always said calling me back or waiting, but never. I called them again this morning and asked for credit directly. I don't want to wait for EDR points for another several weeks.

  • Anybody else is still waiting for the bonus EDR points?

    • I am still waiting. Have you been able to chase them up successfully? My supply start date activated on 27/06

      • +1

Update: I called and the service rep mentioned that someone forgot to add me to a spreadsheet. Looks there are manual processes to get points added. I recommend calling up if no points have come through after 45 days. Will let you know if the points come in the next week

        • Thanks! I was waiting for the 45 days to lapse (which is today). I'll give them a call now

          • @foxes28: Have you talked to Origin? I tried to call 132461 this morning and it always failed to connect.
            Thanks!

            • @fornever: Yes I did, they said it's been processed but they will follow up with EDR and get back to me later this week

          • @foxes28: Update 2: I got my points today :)
