La Espanola Mild & Light Olive Oil 4L $11 @ Coles

170

Just went to Coles and they had La Espanola Olive Oil Mild for AUD 11 for 4 litres. Seems to be some sort of clearance special. Got 4.
While the yellow ticket suggests Mild & Light as the flavour, the actual container says "Extra mild in flavour".

Might be location specific but special was available at Hornsby and Asquith (NSW).

I suspect Spanish olive oils are the most fake ones out there. Not saying they are all bad, but somehow I believe they tamper the most in Europe, diluting it with canola oil. Prove me wrong.

  • Ha ha. Like your pic of what looks like an empty shelf with the price.
    Good price.

    • Well yes shelf empty after I raided it.

These oils are utter garbage, if you have one, smell the oil. Does it barely smell? That’s indicative of crap OO. Read the label it says refined blend.

Do yourself, and your health a favour and buy pure Extra Virgin Olive Oil from companies like Cobram.

Bruh this is $11/4L ($2.75/L). It's cheaper than canola oil. That Cobram one is $52/3L ($14/L).

That's a hell of a difference in price. You might as well say Suzuki's are shit and to drive a McLaren.

      • +1

Suzuki and McLaren are both automobiles.

One of these is not olive oil.

        • Suzuki also sell motorbikes, so we can make that comparison if that suits you better.

          • @pennypincher98: Do they advertise their motorbikes as automobiles, though?

People who say bruh are usually missing a chromosome.

      • Yes, but this isn't 100% Oilve Oil.

It's something (Canola? though they don't specify) they have blended Olive oil with to make it cheaper, and perhaps better suited for use in high heat cooking.

What I'm saying is it could be 1% olive oil and 99% canola and it would still be cheaper than buying canola.

Thanks, purchased some as cooking oil!

  • Can someone confirm if this goes beyond Hornsby?

  • Yeah diluted olive oil

  • +1

This one is a bland of Refined Olive Oil and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
    It's fine for cooking.
