  • Anyone know if its hard to replace the battery on these?

  • +5

Wow this seems like a great deal!
    especially with the 12% cashback
Wish I needed a new laptop.

    • +4

Don't wish, just buy. It's the Ozbargain way.

  • Got it for this price when it first came out in AU

    • With RTX 3060 and 512 GB SSD?

      • Nah 3070 with (1tb or 512gb, can't remember as I replaced it with 4tb)

3060 isn't even worth 2k, personally wouldn't pay more than 1500 for a 3060 laptop then and now, doesn't matter what the tdp is.

  • +1

Was this much about 9 months ago. Gaming laptops with nvidia 4000 series are out now.

  • +2

Last gen CPU, last gen GPU, Windows Home… And they're still asking $2200?
Don't get me wrong, the rest of the specs are excellent, but anyone with this kind of budget probably wants the latest and greatest.

    • +5

I think the latest and greatest would be in $3000+ territory for laptops.

  • +2

This was like $1800 last year for some periods. Now, with the new gen stuff out, even with cashrewards, it is a really bad deal!

    • Yep was hoping to get this sub $2K. Maybe they'll drop the price a bit closer to EOFY.

      • It's sub $2K with Cash Rewards

        • Hmm that is true. I'll have a ponder on this…
I signed up and linked my card on cashrewards. How do I apply the 12% cashrewards? Is that when I go to pay?

          • +1

@icarus255: I use the Cash Rewards app on my phone. You need to log in and go through the cash rewards website or app to make the purchase. Otherwise your purchase won't get tracked by Cash Rewards.

    • Inflation bloody hitting us very hard!

  • What’s the watts like for this laptop model’s gpu card?

    • +2

      NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3070 8GB GDDR6, Boost Clock 1620MHz, TGP 150W

      • Thanks!

Does anyone know how this laptop compares to in performance (speed etc.) to MSI Gaming Laptop Thin GF63 12VE-002AU 15.6" i5 16GBRAM
512GBSSD RTX4050 Win 11 (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/185804366136?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…) where the gpu has 45w and will cost about $1440 after some discounts?

        • +1

The 3070 is similar performance to 4060 so this will be faster than a 4050 ;)

          • @icarus255: Will this Lenovo be a lot faster or just slightly? The price difference between these two is about $500 (after taking all discounts and cashbacks).

            • +1

@ilovefullprice: The Lenovo is better value with faster CPU (Ryzen 7 6800H) and faster GPU (RTX 3070).
The MSI with 12th gen i5-12450H & 4050 would be better value at ~$1200.

              • @1bug: Thanks!

Would you be able to place a fair value for this: MSI Katana 15 B12VFK 15.6" FHD Laptop - i5-12450H, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, RTX 4060, Windows 11 Pro

                https://www.jw.com.au/product/product-msi-katana-15-b12vfk-1…

                • +1

                  @ilovefullprice: I'd say $1600-$1700 for the RTX 4060, + bigger SSD (1TB), + windows Pro.

                  • +1

                    @1bug: Ok thanks!

                  • @1bug: Sorry mate, have a quick question hope you can help. With the “MSI Katana 15 B12VFK 15.6" FHD Laptop - i5-12450H, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, RTX 4060, Windows 11 Pro” I mentioned in my comment above, how come the JW Computer site (https://www.jw.com.au/product/product-msi-katana-15-b12vfk-1…) mentions two types of CPUs:
                    - Up to Intel Core i7
                    - Alder Lake i5 (Intel Core i5)

Do you know which CPU does this laptop has?

                    • +1

@ilovefullprice: The laptop has an i5-12450H CPU which is listed in the Ad title. Alder Lake is the Intel code name for that series.

"Up to Intel Core i7 12650H" is listed in the FEATURES section, which describes the features of a laptop model range. Some models will have an i5, and some will have an i7. Same with "Up to GeForce RTX 4060", some will have a 4050. The Ad is for the i5-12450H model with 4060, as per the title.

I know this can be confusing, but the retailers usually just copy-paste the generic features from the manufacturer's website.

  • With RTX 3060 or 3070?

  • +1

Bought the 3060 variant of this laptop. Was going to throw it in the trash because chrome was literally freezing for minutes at a time, and no avail with forums. Just found out it was the secret McAfee chrome extension they had plugged into my laptop. If anyone has a Legion and its freezing like crazy, completely get rid of this stupid software!

Typically I do fresh windows installs on these kinds of machines.
They are usually filled with malware.

  • Is the cashback still 12%? I'm only seeing 3.5% for lenovo.

    • I think it might have just been for one day. I missed it too.

I own a Legion 5 pro which I bought about 18 months ago. It came with one SSD and was described as "upgradeable to add an extra SSD". I contacted Lenovo and they advised that the unit was not sealed (with the usual warranty seal) and that I could open it and add the extra SSD without affecting my warranty. So, I added an SSD and used it to store all my data which consisted of approx 64,000 photos and my docs etc.

    HOWEVER:
The SSD that came with the laptop started to fail after 10 months (as did the touchpad) so I made a warranty claim for both the touchpad and the SSD.
A technician was sent around to replace them. When it came to installing windows onto the new SSD, he asked about the second SSD (my "data" drive"). I explained its purpose etc and he said, "It's OK, it won't be affected by the new installation of windows".
You guessed it - windows formatted BOTH drives and my data drive was wiped clean.
I have quite a significant number of emails between myself and Lenovo where Lenovo continues to deny any responsibility and refuses to do anything about recovering my data etc.

On top of that my other Lenovo netbook kept failing until I ultimately got a refund (and bought a Dell).

I will NEVER buy another Lenovo product again.
