Aiwa - blast from the past!

    • Well the blast is over already! Did you get it?

My old Bose QC35 headphones don’t connect anymore and reset doesn’t work. Well for $11.40 for listening to some audio books, it‘ll do. They sold them in 2021 even more expensive for $20. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/646471

Anyone know who owns the Aiwa that makes these?

    • Honestly, why do you care about it?

      • Simply wanted to know bro, that's why.

Because you made me curious … Wikipedia says … (profanity) knows, really. It was a big Japanese audio firm from '50s-'90s, bought by Sony to be a youth brand, folded and sold to Japan's Towada Audio. Mob of same name in Chicago. Curiosity sated.

      • Yes I read that too, that's why I asked. I had a Japanese AWIA stereo as a kid and assumed it was another hijacked Chinese owned brand like all the rest.

        • I think I remember the tapes. Their website is quite Japanese. Looks like a small firm from a small town at the top of the main island. I find it romantically odd that in megacorp Japan firms like this still seem to thrive/survive.

  • Now $49…

  • These are absolutely terrible. They feel like a toy and are child size. I immediately gave them to charity.

There was a period in the 80's where their 'Walkman' equivalents were top notch, just a rung below Sony's best. I had an HS-J303, superb device. Certainly not the brand many of us remember.

  • Received it today - looks like I was sent used item and it has very cheap quality. Well you can't expect anyways at this price but didn't expect used item.

Good on people who didn't buy it!
