  • ok i just had the drift on one of my con (it was very old switch so expected).
now, i have 8bitdo wireless so i dont need original joycon but its good to have i guess….,
is there any cheap but good 3rd party one that can do wake up and hopefully work for ringfit ?

    • use the cardboard trick to fix your joycon.

      • i see on reddit people sending them back to nintendo and get a brand new ones, would that better?
funny is the drift was very bad when i was inside tinfoil, but just went to that calibrate screen it seems to be fine

From what I read - this doesn't work in AU.
Some people commented here before - Nintendo AU wants either $50 per joy con for repair or some money like $15 for return postage if they find controller not faulty.

After reading that I think I will be buying new instead. :|

        • I personally rather repair it myself if its out of warranty.

Nintendo off memory charges a fair bit to have it repaired.

          It's very easy to do.

          I do it quite often.

Might even just be dirt underneath.

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: Can you please provide more details about repair?
I have few drifting really bad.
Do you replace the whole stick assembly or just disassemble and clean?

For replacement assembly the genuine is not available but through 3rd party I didn't find any with a good feedback about the reliability.

@SickDmith: What you can try in order first is:

              1. Clean the joystick by airdusting underneath or using a bit of WD 40. IF you're skilled enough you can take it apart but if you're going that method might as well do 2

              2. place a cardboard square piece underneath the joystick metal part which requires it to be pulled apart.
Use this video which explains into detail the reason behind it.
                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vid8lIXmZwE

              3. If the above fail you can do a joystick replacement which only costs a few bucks each from Ali express.

I rarely get to option 3 but if you do its really not rocket science to replace.

However it also depends if the joystick is just drifting only or more issues like press clicking doesn't work, sticks feel very stiff. If that is the case just do 3 unless you're brave enough to completely dismantle the joy stick apart which is not an easy nor worth the effort.

And if you are doubting my Joycon experience, here is my collection to date (not including the Splatoon 3 edition which i do have).

@SickDmith: this is the best of 3rd party probably better than ori

but there are others that much cheaper like under $10 i believe should be good as ori

    • The thumbsticks can be replaced without too much difficulty. iFixit has a decent guide, and you can get kits that come with a pair of sticks and the necessary tools pretty cheap.

if you're comfortable enough to carefully disassemble your joycons, you can get some hall effect sticks and replace them yourself

      • i saw video about that, gulikit brand i think? can we still buy them ?

        damn $40ish

      • Not worth the price.

You dont need it. Cardboard trick does wonders.

My friend had a joycon set that was drifting. I did the trick for him and its been going strong for the past year.

        • how thick is the cardboard should be? just the business name card enough?
also the joycon lock mechanism a bit loose i saw on ali a metal bit to replace that - sometimes i can accidentally push the joycon out while still locked

          • @CyberMurning: business card is sufficient, you cant go thicker or it will be too tight.

I never had issues with the locking mechanisms for the rails as I press it as I slide them in to prevent damage.

But I heard metal ones scratch the rails

          • @CyberMurning: Out left one is the same, don't need to press the release button. Given it spends 99% of the time docked, it has had very little wear & tear.

    What!?

  • Anyone know how long joy con’s last on standby mode?

I read that they last 20hrs being used but can I sit them next to the console for a week or two without going flat?

    • I brought my Switch for a vacation and didn't use it. A month later still 3 bars on each Joy Con.

      • Thanks!

I had one go flat on me within a few days, must have been something weird.

Price has gone up to $107

If only there was some sort of coupon code you can use to further reduce price down to what is in the title…

Oh I know right, if only I could read too.. 🤦🏼‍♂️

  • What's the difference between this and the original joysticks on the switch?

    • No difference. Just extra controllers for extra players

      • Thanks Op,. I thought it would be different like in terms of quality, thought aftermarket joysticks are better quality build. I might look into Pro switch
