Great price, If you don’t prefer red just throw a black watch case with a new band and all good to go :)

    • +2

why would someone put a case on the watch?
just makes it even thicker and maybe less comfortable.

haven't seen many apple watch users with a case on it.

      • +1

I have a cheap Amazon green case on the 44mm rose se that was going for around $300 and it makes very little difference to the size. It’s also saved my watch a few times. Highly recommend getting a case. Looks much better too.

    Nice find OP

    PS: Amazon is price-matching Catch.

    Also available from Catch:

    • I think the catch one is 41mm which is smaller than the amazon 45mm for more expensive.

    • This is up to $599 now, unfortunately. Much better colour than red

  • +1

Bit old but I can recommend. Red absolute power move.

    • +1

red is too red as as some one said above

      power move for what purpose?

to broadcast to everyone look at my wrist
"everyone look here, apple watch, me rich, you peasant !! "

      • Power move as in don’t care what anyone else thinks , wear red as it’s a nice vibrant colour and very different to the usual black/blue on ss or MAYBE leather if you’re feeling a bit adventurous

        • did you bought the red one?

          • +1

@pinkybrain: I did, day 1 from apple, wear it normally weekdays. Weekends will just wear sd1970 or Pagani mission to Alaska

    • red HIV Apple brand power

  • +2

The Man got a red one. The body is a great colour because it is a deep red. You could get a black strap to go with the red body.

  • scratch very easily

    • +1

Can confirm, I babied the ***** out of mine first month and it still somehow ended up scratched as haha, doesn’t bother me when wearing it, but when it’s off/charging with screen off I think damnnn

      • anything Titanium won't or at least not so princess

steel and aluminum - 100% scratch even wrapped in cotton wool everyday

  • Does anyone know a prepaid provider that Cann add an esim to a prepaid plan for the watch? Don't like being in contracts

    • Nah, pretty sure it's Optus or Telstra with a contract only

      • +1

yeah i think most cellular on the watch are wasted cos you need to be on contract, which cost more money..
and some people just don't want to have two plans..or will ditch the extra cellular watch plan after a while..

Most of the stuff people need to do, they do it via their phone anyway..

is cellular on the watch just mainly good for answer calls on it or is there actual some useful stuff you can do with it that require cellular?
And can watch just use your phone personal hotspot to do same thing as having the cellular plan?

        • I just bought this but haven't owned one before. From the videos and articles I've read on the cellular vs non-cellular debate, the only benefit of cellular is to be able to leave your phone elsewhere and to still be able to answer calls, stream music via the watch.

Otherwise if you're someone who has your phone on you all the time, you won't miss the difference.

And no, I don't believe you can use hotspot to share your mobile connection to the watch, cellular or not.

most likely case is when you are in the toilet..
though some people also take the phones to the toilet while doing their thing..

I saw a video where someone try to live with just the cellular watch without a phone..
            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4Q1HuXDa6o

and the experience did not look great and the person essentially sum it up like below

Answering calls on the watch means it is on speakerphone and people around can hear your conversation,
not to mention it would just make you look like really weird/awkward/nerd talking to your watch wrist…
Answer messages is not that great on a watch and you would just use some short predicted generated sentences..

The only main benefit the person got from the experience was less distraction from the phone
and living in the moment more, cos you can't do much on anything on the watch.

Also Stream music to your watch does not sound that great either..

Otherwise if you're someone who has your phone on you all the time, you won't miss the difference.

The phone is still the must have item you carry with you everywhere,
            the watch is not.

You can leave your house without your watch,
but if you forget your phone, you are probably going to go back and get it.

And no, I don't believe you can use hotspot to share your mobile connection to the watch, cellular or not.

            are you sure?
since you haven't own it, can you test later on..

It is still interesting if this can be done to answer call with your watch while leaving your phone in your bag or pocket.
It would still be interesting to to know if it can be done or not.

            • @pinkybrain: According to chatGPT (cause I'm too lazy to wade through a whole bunch of google and youtube videos):

Yes, you can use an Apple Watch to answer a phone call even if you don't have a SIM card. The Apple Watch connects to your iPhone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and as long as your iPhone is nearby and connected to a cellular network or Wi-Fi, you can make and receive calls on your Apple Watch.

When you receive a call on your iPhone, your Apple Watch will also ring and display the caller ID. You can then answer the call directly from your Apple Watch, using the built-in speaker and microphone or by pairing it with a Bluetooth headset or AirPods.

However, it's worth noting that some features such as cellular data, GPS, and some third-party apps may not work on an Apple Watch without a cellular plan.

              • @Vavoom: Yeah, you can answer your phone from your watch, you don’t need a SIM.

You can even use the watch to take a picture from you phone. You get a little image of what the phone sees. It would be good for selfies or taking a picture over the top of the crowd if you had a selfie stick.

You can use Maps on the watch.

The watch goes on the wrist first thing in the morning and comes off in the evening. The phone stays in the bag and most things are run from the watch. Between my watch and my iPad the phone barely leaves the bag. Then I don’t make a lot of phone calls. I prefer to use the phone for calls. It would, probably, be different if I wore paired earphones most of the day.

You can load music straight onto the watch as well.

                • @try2bhelpful:

You can use Maps on the watch.

                  Would you actually use that?
seems useless with such a small screen.

The watch goes on the wrist first thing in the morning and comes off in the evening

So unable to use it for sleep tracking.. that is shame..
then you leave it charging overnight?
how it takes to charge from 0 to 100?

The phone stays in the bag and most things are run from the watch.

What do you actually run from the watch?

Between my watch and my iPad the phone barely leaves the bag

yeah if you got ipad, then why would need to use the phone..

And any other stuff can be done on the watch, whatever that is that you run.

Even if you no longer need to use the phone, you still need it
else the watch is less useful without it.

                  • @pinkybrain: Map has the step by step description thingy. That is OK on the watch.

I could use it to sleep track overnight if I gave it a bit of a charge whilst I had a shower and got ready in the morning. I just prefer to sleep without a watch. It doesn’t really take that long to charge.

I run almost everything from the watch. It does my fitness tracking, I can send/receive messages, I can control the music on my phone, weather checks, heartbeat, calendar, timers, reminders, etc.

The iPad does my day to day and travels with me.

You can’t run the watch off the iPad so I have to have the phone but it is, mostly, a hot spot, camera and fitness tracker.

yeah i thought it might be able to ..

                makes sense..

if Apple only allows the cellular to do all these stuff
then the non cellular watch would not be as useful..
and essentially just function as a fitness watch

            • @pinkybrain: That's why airpods and airpod pro may work for phone calls. Just as weird as anyone walking down the street these days talking to themselves.
I'm a android user with an unused iPhone 7, been trying to justify Apple Watch over Garmin/Google Wear.
Could potentially stump up for the Ultra with GPS+Cellular and leave the iPhone at home.

              • @0806449: yeah if the own airpods then it more discrete to answer calls and no speakerphone can be heard..
if you forget your airpods or it ran of battery and you need answer with the watch, everyone around you can hear your speakerphone + your conversation plus you look like a tool talking to your wrist watch..

it is more to do with what people are used to seeing..
I have not yet seen anyone answering calls and having a phone conversation on their apple watch.
I think even if they could it, most people rarely do it unless no other choice.. due to privacy concerns and not wanting to look weird.

I'm a android user with an unused iPhone 7, been trying to justify Apple Watch over Garmin/Google Wear.

Does apple watch still work with the older iphone if it stop getting the latest ios version?

Could potentially stump up for the Ultra with GPS+Cellular and leave the iPhone at home.

                That is quite expensive purchase.
Why do you think you need the ultra model + cellular vs standard model?

So are you gonna have two sim plans / contracts and 2 phone numbers?
and are you gonna answer calls on your watch or your android phone?
