I like this one last time I travelled:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/760831
Free Fx fees and travel insurance to go along with the bonus points. Downside is high-ish spend but you're on holidays
my combo is the trusty old latitude 28 degrees for card purchases and Citibank plus transaction debit for any cash withdrawals
Second this combo. I do the same.
You can link citi debit to beem it and instantly transfer money over when you need to withdraw too.
Just take travellers cheques…
No grandpa … it doesnt work this way anymore.
Why not?
I still have some American Express ones from my last trip….
Did you say hello to Mr Wong for me?
@rickb: They had an office in Hong Kong.
CBA ultimate
+1
I used UBank Visa Debit when I was in Indonesia in March. No overseas fees and used whatever rate Google says that day. I used ubank phone app to transfer in case not enough fund, not sure what kind of security hiccup if you use laptop browser.
the CBA ultimate IMO is one of the better travel cards if you can get it. Not the best points generator but no Forex rate is superb and most likey it'll be fee free if you spend enough (easily met with you're a couple).
Agree, the ozbargain wiki is a good resource to find the best one. I found this a decent summary of the options. It's sometimes nice to lock in the exchange rates with wise or revolut if you want the stability. Though the rates are very slightly worse.

Had trouble with 28 degrees. On one overseas trip I called and told them the dates, but when I arrived instead of noting the dates and countries I was away the overseas call centre has cancelled my card as of the date I was travelling. Difficult to rectify when overseas.
Now they have been hacked and I just received my 1st phishing call from a scammer who had my name, number and details.
They also charge a fee when you pay them each month!

That's on you for using BPay to pay. Use direct debit and no fee.

Exchange rates are set by either MasterCard or Visa and these may vary from day to day.
$0 fee cards, such as those from BankWest, also offer complimentary travel insurance.
