Use backschool voucher code to bring down the price from $209 to $189.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is already out for this tab.

This brings down the price to $189.98 ($187 AUD) shipped. The cheapest U30GT I have seen.

I paid $199AUD 10 days ago and still waited for it (should arrive soon hopefully). Given the decent battery life and speed, this is a real bargain for 10.1 tablet.

According to the guy in the post, pretty good value compare to Nexus 7. lasts 11 hours for battery and fast cpu and gpu to play 3D games.

    • How much did you pay? Where you get it from? I don't see any retailers selling the iconia for this price.

    • Did you pay less than $189 for your Acer? Where/when did you buy it?

    • This does look better on spec, comparing to the old Iconia A500

      • RK3066 dual core @ 1.6GHz with quad core Mali400
      • IPS screen (which Iconia does not have)
      • 1080P (whereas Tegra2 does only 1080i)

Still trying to find reviews though on how well it is constructed and how good the software is. Acer hasn't done too badly with the old Iconia and there is a big community around it.

Yeah would love to know where you can get Iconia for less than $189.

I hate comments like this as it proves you have no idea what you're talking about. If you did some research you'll find that this tablet has proven to be quite decent. The RK3066 is a very good CPU and rivals the Tegra 3 quite nicely.

I bought one of these 2 months ago and works a treat!!!
Refer to http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1921801 for more info.

  • Does the voucher work for other tablets on the site?

That is a good price and specs for a 10". You always expect to pay a fair bit more for the larger screen size in a tablet.

  • I believe there is an official Jelly Bean update out for it too.

    • However, I'm not sure whether it's better to buy 16GB + 16GB SD cards vs 32GB.

I heard that 16+16 would be better since all the hardware specs are the same and with 16GB you won't loose all your data in the SD card when you update the firmware of the tablet.

      Any comments?

        Keep in mind that:

        1. App 2 SD no longer is supported or works in Android 4.0 and newer. The size of your SD card has no impact on whether you can store more apps. Note; the exception to this is games applications. See point 4.

        2. The tablet has a pre-determined amount of space for applications (for example, 1 or 2GB). You cannot use the whole 16GB or 32GB for applications.

        3. Its likely no matter which model you choose, you will still be restricted by the partition size limitation, which is the same across the 2 models.

        4. The benefit of extra storage is that you can store more games or large applications. Games usually have several parts — the main APK file (which cannot be moved to USB or SD storage) and the game files/data (which can be moved).

So if you plan to have lots of games installed on the tablet, maybe get the larger capacity tablet. But you can always use an SD card to fulfill your non-app related storage needs.

App 2 SD no longer is supported or works in Android 4.0 and newer.

Not true. I'm currently using an a2sd script (I think technically it's called m2sd) on my HTC Desire running ICS 4.0.4 (Cyanogenmod fork Spazedog based on CM9 RC2) and it works fine. The Jelly bean build also has it but is currently not stable enough to be a daily driver for my device (no wifi support for example).

This script was in the ROM when installed and all I had to do was configure it. Partitioned my 16gb card to have a 1.5Gb sd-ext partition (formatted as ext4 but can be ext3) and the remaining 14.5Gb is Fat32 and functions like normal external storage for settings/media/downloads/Android secure a2sd. Currently have over 1gb free for apps on sd-ext after loading about 40 apps. Under settings -> performance -> disk manager you can move all sorts of stuff either on or off the memory card/sd-ext, including apps, apps dalvik, system dalvik, app data and cache. You can also reverse mount the partitions so that the normally internal data partition uses the sd card (sd-ext) and the normally external sd-ext partition uses the internal memory, and then you can switch individual elements back to the faster internal memory (they recommend doing this with data for speed) by sending it to the "external storage" that is really internal due to the reverse mount.

So basically with this script you have very fine control over everything and can send anything anywhere. You can also use the Android native a2sd to send things to the fat32 partition in the android secure folder.

  • Typical. Bought one yesterday from Elijah at aliexpress for $210 then day later, $20 cheaper. Ah well, comes with express shipping (DHL) and a reputable seller.

  • "Use backschool voucher code …"
    What is the voucher code?

    • BACKSCHOOL ;)

        Don't include the smiley!

  • Ordered one yesterday and got a message saying they are short on stock and:

"We will ship your order within next 2-3 days if the new cargo arrives, otherwise we will refund you."

Anyone else getting this? I wonder if they are short or if the code drops it below profitable…

    • According to a youtube video, the wholesale price for 1000 units is $128 USD each in China 1-2 month ago. At the moment, the sales of this tablet is ON FIRE hence it can be sold out quickly if the price is so good like this one. On Ebay, you can easily find one min $229 AUD shipped.

    • Had the same message - just checked and it now says dispatched

  • +1

I just got the tablet. It took exactly 15 working days after dispatched. Initial impression, solid built and good screen. First Antutu score is 8145 which is close to Tegra 3.

    • Awesome. Just ordered my tab.

Also, does it have bluetooth? A lot of sites say Bluetooth: Yes, some say it's "Supported" and others say "No".

  • According to my android assistant, i can confirm bluetooth is supported. And I am glad I have bought this.

  • Just recieved mine, good tablet, solidly made but with a few issues on startup. Browser crashed and Google play store would give me 921 and DF-BPA-13 errors.

If anyone has the same here's how i fixed mine.

Browser crash - factory reset, will restart in Chinese, need to change in settings back to english.

    Google Play errors.

Go to Settings Select Apps->All Select Google Play Store Select Force Stop and Clear Data
Go back to ALL and select Market Updater (If you do not see Market Updater on list, skip to Google Services Framework step)
Select Force Stop and Clear Data.
Go back to ALL list and select Google Services Framework Select Clear Data Turn your device off and back on.
Go back to Google Play and try to download your apps.

    • Good tips! For google play error, remove the google account from settings and add it again when you open the play store. It should solve the issue. For browser, it works fine out of the box. Just make sure you change the language to english.
